Chapter 2097: They Are Coming
Two days went by in a flash.
In these two days, general Robert had come to discuss the matters of the battle with Grey over and over again. Three Ninth stage Sovereigns returned to the city, but when general Robert did not think they would still be enough to rival the number of Ninth stage Sovereigns the Gnomes and Necromancers would have at hand. One has to know that some Eighth stage Sovereign Gnomes and Necromancers have puppets with the strength of Ninth stage Sovereigns unlike the humans who could not call on any assistance from inanimate beings.
General Robert’s entire plan relied on them being able to kill the two Peak Sovereign Gnomes as quickly as possible. Without the two Peak Sovereigns, he and Grey could demolish the Ninth and Eighth stage Sovereigns in the enemy camp.
On this day, the general was discussing with a few of his top soldiers in the main hall, among these soldiers were the three Ninth stage Sovereigns. He was speaking when he suddenly paused, he said a few seconds later, "They are coming."
The soldiers all knew about the Gnomes’ intentions of besieging them on this day, so hearing the general’s words, they did not need any explanation.
The general gave out multiple orders before standing up to leave the hall. The three Ninth stage Sovereigns followed him as they headed to the back of the manor.
The trio knew there was an important guest cultivating at the back of the manor that only the general could see. They heard it was a masked man who arrived two days ago and helped kill a Ninth stage Sovereign Necromancer along with his puppet. The information regarding their battle was limited as none of the soldiers saw it, all they knew was that the Gnomes retreated in a panicked fashion after the auras of their two Peak Sovereigns were sensed coming from the direction the masked man and Necromancer had their battle. This could only imply that the Gnomes were on the losing side.
The only reason the soldiers knew the masked man won was that only he returned from the fight. There were no signs of the Necromancer coming back to meet up with his troop.
The three Ninth stage Sovereigns were curious about the identity of this masked man. When they arrived at the lone room behind the manor, the door opened and a devilishly handsome young man walked out with his hands behind his back, dressed in black.
"General." Grey greeted the general and he walked out. He nodded at the three Ninth stage Sovereigns as a form of greeting after he exchanged greetings with the general.
The general went on to introduce the three Ninth stage Sovereigns. Of the three, two of the men looked to be in their late thirties with rough beards and burly physique, the duo also had an uncanny resemblance. The last one had a slender body like he was only in his teens, but his eyes were as deep as the ocean.
The two men with burly physique were named Garth and Tate, the slender man was called Cassian.
Finding out that the person standing before them was none other than Grey Dawson, the son of the equally famous Lucas Dawson blew them away. They had all heard of Grey, and one of the noteworthy things about him that anyone would notice first was none other than his face. He was a man famous for his talent, but his handsomeness was also unforgettable. One of the reasons it was quite easy to identify him was that there were very few men capable of leaving one speechless from the first look, and there were even rarer men with such looks that turned out to be elite geniuses.
"They will arrive shortly." General Robert informed Grey after he was done with the introduction.
Grey nodded and replied, "I was informed when they stepped out."
"You’re tracking them?" General Robert was taken aback.
"I have my means." Grey gave a casual reply, looking at the General he asked, "So the plan is the same, correct?"
General Robert pointed at Cassian, "He will be the only one assisting you. The other two are Light Elementalists and their aid is needed in the battlefield in case anyone is seriously wounded."
Grey raised a brow when he heard the two brute-looking men were actually Light Elementalists. Light Elementalists were not generally regarded as the most physical. If anything, the duo looked like a typical Earth Elementalist. Shaking his head, he knew not to stereotype people based on how they look.
"No worries, if things go well, I might not need any help." Grey was not worried about getting fewer help compared to what was planned.
Cassian had heard of the plan from general Robert and knew Grey wanted to hold off one Peak Sovereign with their help. They had all heard of how Grey could use a special ability of his to create an opening to fatally wound a Gnome, but that was not something they had ever witnessed.
Grey was probably the only Ninth stage Sovereign in the history of humanity to say he might not need help against a Peak Sovereign. There was no other Ninth stage Sovereign who would confidently say such.
"That will be for the best." General Robert did not doubt Grey’s abilities the least bit. Even though he did not personally witness it, he at least was present when Grey made a Ninth stage Sovereign Necromancer and puppet disappear in a matter of seconds. Even a Peak Sovereign would not be able to kill a Ninth stage Sovereign that fast unless they had the element of surprise.
They went through the plan once again, and general Robert left with Garth and Tate, leaving Grey and Cassian there.
Cassian struck a conversation with Grey, and to his surprise, the young man was very friendly and spoke with him without putting on any airs. This was something rarely found in young geniuses. Youngsters with amazing potentials occasionally tend to think the world revolved around them which in turn affects the way they interact with others.
