Chapter 2114: Serepolis City

Chapter 2114: Serepolis City

Grey’s entourage grew from the few survivors he rescued to just over twenty people. About fifty kilometers away from where the last oasis before the city was located, Grey halted their movements due to the information he received from the bunny leader’s scouts that were scouting the road ahead.

The Gnomes had taken over the oasis in large numbers. Grey could tell the Gnomes were taking their time before they attacked the city.

’Looks like we’ll have to take a detour.’

He looked at the group behind him and asked, "We’ll have to go around that oasis, I’m not familiar with this region so I’d like one of you to lead the way."

A young lady stepped forward from the group, she looked to be in her mid twenties and was at the Peak of the Venerable Plane, after a quick bow she said, "I’m very familiar with this area, if you don’t mind I can lead the way."

"Please." Grey motioned for her to lead the way.

The lady took the lead and flew in another direction.

The group traveled for hours seeing nothing but sand. Grey couldn’t help but wonder how it was possible for these people to tell their east from south in this kind of environment. Had he not been given the map that had the accurate direction leading to each oasis, it would’ve been impossible for him to even locate one, much less so many. This was the reason he asked someone else to lead the way, because they needed to take a detour and the only path he knew from the map was the straight line leading to the city through each oasis.

It was until midday the next that the visage of a large city started to come to view.

Grey and Reynolds were taken aback by the grandeur of the city when he got a closer look. It was unbelievable that a city of this level would be built under the harsh environment of this desert. One has to know that the density of elemental essence here is inferior compared to the main lands.

They arrived at the large city gates with the words Serepolis City boldly written on top of it, and saw two guards standing on either side of the gate.

Grey could sense the presence of more guards hiding on the city wall.

Seeing Grey’s large group, one of the guards stopped them and asked, "Where are you coming from?"

Grey wasn’t interested in having unnecessary conversations, bringing out his identity token, he showed it to the guard, drawing a hasty bow from the latter. He questioned where the General in charge of the city was located, before telling him to handle the rescued survivors.

...

Serepolis City was filled to the brim with activity. People were going from one place to another and there was a hint of anxiety in the air.

Grey knew this had to do with the attacks of the Gnomes on the different oasis. There were bound to be survivors and most of them would run here since this was the place that had the top experts. There was even a Half God Plane expert stationed here.

When Grey heard this from one of the rescued survivors, he didn’t find it unbelievable, after all, there was a teleportation array here that led to the Aurora Continent, it won’t be left unprotected in times like these.

Grey and Reynolds appeared at the city Mayor’s manor, leisurely walking into the main hall where they overheard different voices arguing.

"I’m telling you, we should destroy the array and leave with everyone."

"Why are you such a coward? We have to stay and fight!"

"You take too many risks, that’s the reason you lost your territory with so many losses."

When Grey and Reynolds stepped into the hall, the people were caught in a heated argument, barely noticing his presence. The hall door was open, and since they didn’t really reveal their auras, they didn’t sense them, except for an old man that was seated in the main seat.

The old man coughed to draw the attention of everyone, "Everyone stop embarrassing yourselves, we have guests."

The old man’s words made everyone turn to look at the entrance of the hall to see Grey standing there in an indifferent manner while Reynolds was uninterested. Grey’s mask gave people a sense of mystery when they stared at him.

"Young friend, I’m assuming you didn’t come here to watch us." The old man had an amused smile on his face.

The men arguing earlier all looked at Grey with interest. Some of them were still stunned by the fact that they didn’t notice his presence until after the old man spoke.

Grey showed them his token, "I’m Grey Dawson, and this is my friend Reynolds. My father sent us here to help out before we can use the teleportation array."

"Lucas’s boy?" The old man asked. Seeing Grey nod, he motioned with his finger, "Take off your mask."

Grey did as told by the old man, and when the old man saw his face, the old man nodded while stroking his long white goatee.

"It’s indeed you." The old man chuckled, "You don’t need to help out if you want to use the teleportation array."

"Father is aware, but it seems you’ll need more help given what’s coming." Grey spoke in a calm and collected manner, unfazed by the countless eyes on him.

His identity was unique to say the least, thanks to not just his father’s fame, but also his own freakish talent as well as the bounty of the Gnomes, he was a well-known individual in the world. However, not many people have gotten the chance to meet him, so when some of these people who had mostly stayed in the desert region saw him, they were a little curious about this famous genius.

"You saw them on your way here?" The old man knew what Grey was talking about.

"I was behind them, I had to take a detour to get here with some of the people we rescued on the way." Grey didn’t deny seeing the Gnomes.

One of the men who had spiky rough brown hair looked at Grey and asked, "How many are they?"
