Chapter 1536: Golems and Puppets clash

Chapter 1536: Golems and Puppets clash

"When it comes to brains and deceptions, that guy is better than me as well,"

Sivan said in a lamenting tone.

Cray straightened up a bit and sat against the wall as he looked at Sivan.

"Why are you giving so much credit to your enemy? I mean, it is a good thing in a way. But I have seen too many people who are fighting against an enemy who is in a much more advantageous position than them, but are still in a rigid denial.

They always thought they stood a chance of winning and they are superior themselves.

You are exactly the opposite of them. You already won once at Sam, albeit in an ambush situation. But it is still a victory nonetheless. Why are you so generous with your compliments towards him?"

Sivan looked at Cray and hesitated a bit, but soon he just shook his head and said.

"They are not complements; they are facts. In this soul exchange process, I got all of his memories. If I had known all of these memories, not even completely, just some of them, a small glimpse, I highly doubt I would have made a move on Sam at all."

"Really? Is he that scary? He didn't even come across clans like yours until then. You wielded much more power than him."

"Yeah, I did. But that's about it. He has this scarily high endurance towards the mishaps and misfortunes that regularly plague him throughout his life."

"So, you are shaken just by that?"

"No, I am shaken because I am sure that he won't be bothered by the trouble I caused him too. He is way too focused on the end goal and doesn't care how much trouble he is going through at the present.

Because all he cares about is trying and find a way through the current struggle and in the process he wouldn't care about the damage he is creating.

He might not be heartless enough to collect 100,000 souls just to make a formation. But that only applies when he is considering 100,000 innocent people. For 100,000 enemies though, that is not something he would blink an eye while killing.

He is just a messed-up character with contradicting but clear principles. Some of his principles appear hypocritical to me, but he doesn't care. He just follows them blindly and stands by them too much.

The whole conflict between me and him is a mess. I won his body at the start, but that is about it. He destroyed many of my subordinate organizations. Created a mess in the Mari clan, now he is fighting a war against my clan.

With this body, I got everything I ever dreamed of, but I couldn't rest freely for a single day. I even feel like this is all a big mistake sometimes."

"So, that is why you want to kill him so desperately?"

"One of the reasons, yes."

"What are the other reasons then?"

"The benefits that come from killing him of course. If he dies I get a lot of things."

"What would that be?"

Even before Sivan could answer, the group of people that left came back.

Sivan stood up and walked past them, completely ignoring them.

Avlyn frowned as she looked at Cray and ran over to make sure that he is okay.

"How are you feeling?"

"Alive. I knew this is risky, but I must say I was saved by the mechanism of the formation."

"Yeah?"

"Of course, the only reason that I survived is because of the mechanism. Fifty thousand souls is too much for a head to bear in such a massive attack. I even had to use my soul pill because of this."

"And?"

"And I still lost it as soon as the core was destroyed. The formation mechanism is designed with the user's safety in mind. Sam would have never thought that his enemies would be using it. Otherwise, he would have definitely not made that set up and I am glad he did.

How are things on your side?"

"It seems like Gail clearly didn't like the way Hayan annoyed him. He just destroyed the guy in a single attack after some stalling and left using a transference token."

"Expected. What is the next plan?"

Avlyn turned to Sivan who is standing at the door talking to one of his subordinates.

He has a deep frown on his face.

"What happened?"

"Our next plan is decided. It is defense."

All of them walked out of the tent to take a look far away.

The whole area is surrounded by the Golems of the Lava worms. The remaining Lava worms are completely occupying the surroundings of the camp.

But that is not all. The undead creatures are among the golems as they marched forward along with them.

All of the undead creatures are equipped.

Along with these creatures. There are a bunch of puppets that are flying out of the city.

The small puppets that are used for shooting the bullets acted as beacons for attracting the energy beam attacks from the dome formations in the city.

But their function is a bit different this time.

They are just here to shoot stuff and nothing else.

Avlyn looked at the vast number of undead and golems coming at them and was surprised. Her surprise turned into shock when she saw some of the undead creatures which emitted an aura that is extremely dangerous and chaotic.

"Why are they so powerful?"

She muttered it out loud and one of her subordinates looked at the creatures and said.

"They are the bodies of the members of the different clans and organizations. This is surprising. It seems like the Gaja clan collected the dead bodies and used them too while they are taking revenge.

They are all pretty powerful people in their own right."

"Really? Gaja clan did this? I thought this is not their style."

"Well, it is Sam's style," Sivan answered before Avlyn's subordinate responded and took out a communication token.

"Everyone, get the energy beams and ranged attacks ready. Kill every creature that is coming. All of the puppet legions can be engaged.

Also, use the rest of the energy crackers in the city. Use all three launchers.

The liquid energy cell missiles go next…"

He kept on giving out orders and immediately the subordinates started moving. The first thing they did was energy beams were being shot out of the massive cannons they mounted.

Along with that, the puppets are let out. Both humanoid and beast puppets ran out as they attacked the golems and the undead creatures.

The puppets have energy blades and shot small energy bullets. The battle finally became chaotic. It became chaotic and extremely direct.

The golems were being destroyed at an extremely fast pace. But they were also being brought back instantly because of the Lava worms.

While all of this is going on the ground, in the air, the small flying puppets started shooting bullets at the shooters of the energy cannons.

But they didn't make it. They looked like normal bullets and they were shot down by the archer guards on the wall.

The fragments of the bullets are all over the ground among the undead creatures and the golems. Some of them even merged with the soil that is being formed from the golems.

As the battle progressed the small puppets are being shot down one by one and the bullets that are stored in the space jade and fell all over the place

Inside the Gaja city, people on the city wall watched the whole thing turn out.

The battle is going on closer to the camp. It is way too far away from the city, but they are currently enjoying this.

The golems and undead even though didn't have much of an upper hand, they can be sure that they will be able to take a breath for a while.

Inside the city, Sam is also looking at the battle through his telescope, and in the process, he noticed the movements of people who are setting up tripods in an elevated spot. He frowned and called out to Gail.

"Are you alright to battle?"

"Yes. Why?"

"Energy crackers are coming. I want you to intercept them before they reach the vicinity of the city."

"Ranged attacks?"

"Yeah, don't go near them."

"Alright."

Gail ran over to the front of the city and stood on the city wall to tackle the energy crackers.

Sam just watched the scene through his telescope and he waited.

"So, what is our next move going to be?"

Giyon asked as she stood beside him and watched the battle through another telescope.

"I don't know currently. It depends on Sivan's next move honestly."

"Really? You are leaving it to someone else's decisions?"

"Of course not. He is a variable. Let him figure out how he is going to bring up the extra trouble to himself. That is the least I can do to him, after all, he has done to me."
