Chapter 2534: Taming Undead

The creature kept on banging its head against the barrier.

But no matter what it did, the formation didn’t even budge. Sam was pretty satisfied with the function. The energy drawn from the inheritance is of higher quality and the formation pillars connected with it, have enough power on their own to create a formation.

One thing Sam realized after some experiments is that he couldn’t just create a formation solely based on the external atmospheric energy. It works in the academy realm, somewhat, like it did with hub. But the academy realm as a whole is a training area.

It is not so reliable when he is outside and he tried to create a formation of such higher level.

At least, not until he reaches their level.

So, he thought the Divine inheritance with its unexplored flexibility and versatility would be enough. And it worked.

"Now, to the next step."

Sam clicked the tablet again and all of a sudden, the barrier moved. The dome shaped barrier, started shrinking down.

And the creature no matter how much it struggled couldn’t break the formation.

The creature ran to the other direction and started hitting the barrier from various spots.

But the barrier didn’t back down. Of course, the creature isn’t completely stupid. It noticed the formation pillars by now. But it actually can’t hit the formation pillars, because they are outside the barrier.

And with the barrier shrinking, they are just too far out.

Soon, the barrier shrunk to the point, it was just big enough for the creature to move around slightly. But not enough room for it to use its speed to its advantage.

It’s now easier to predict its movements, and restrictive for the beast to attack.

At that moment, the gang finally showed up.

All thirteen of them were standing outside the barrier within the beast’s visible range. Of course, it sensed them, but their energy is negligible for it. They were all initiation cultivators after all.

But now, they gave it a sense of threat, mostly because they activated their suits and got ready.

At that moment, Sam started using the other feature of crystal tablet.

Jack’s suit lit up and he moved as if on cue. His body wasn’t restricted by the barrier at all. He dashed in and with the suit’s amplification slashed the beast on its back. His blade landed exactly below the knee joint of the beast’s hindleg

*ROAR*

He roared wildly in pain. It did react instantly, but it couldn’t sense any fluctuations in the formation itself. So, it didn’t notice Jack’s presence until he reached it with his blade.

And once the strike landed, it’s leg gave in for a moment. Before it could react, Jack kicked the ground and jumped out of the barrier.

He flew through it like it wasn’t even there. But when the creature tried to dash after him, its head smashed into the barrier.

Before it could recover, Sam activated Saber Monarch’s suit. And he made the exact same move. His saber landed exactly on the same knee. This time, the beast swung its tail to smash him.

But at that moment, Sia and Gyan had their suits light up. They moved like shadows and landed their strikes at tail joint. And they landed those blows exactly when its tail was thrown and overextended, making it very clean with little resistance.

And just like that, for the next twenty minutes, a game of poke the land croc was played.

The gang one after the other hand their suit light up, which allowed them to cross the barrier. They landed a couple of blows and escaped immediately.

The croc on the other hand... no matter how much it tried, it couldn’t just find the space to land a proper blow.

The battle was one-sided.

On top of that, with Tamas and Night Ghost there, the undead both physical, and soul time invaded the barrier and made for great distraction. They were all expendable, and enough to divert the land croc, when the others landed a glow.

Soon, the beast was taken down...

"Finish it."

Sam muttered under his breath. As if he heard it, Watt and Jack entered the barrier one after the other.

Watt slid in, dodged its already broken tail, used his cards and strings to lodge into one of its legs and cut it.

The land croc lost its balance and fell, exposing the already injured lower part of its neck. The swords of Jack went straight into the already injured part and cut through it. The head wasn’t parted, but its neck was too widely split, it lost consciousness and bled out immediately.

They slipped out of the barrier just in case, but the undead stayed in to suck the vitality and speed up the death.

Soon, the land croc died right there.

Sam immediately, made a move. The barrier’s color changed and it oozed death energy. All of it was diverted into the corpse of the land croc.

"Tamas, Night Ghost. Your play."

He muttered again and both of them moved. The formation triggered the shadow necromancy spell and extracted the shadow of the land croc. At that moment, the duo Tamas and Night Ghost entered the barrier, and they inserted a formation disc on top of the undead’s head.

At the same time, both of them wore a couple of bracelets that connected their consciousness to the disc on the undead’s head.

Sam checked the readings in his crystal tablet and said.

"It’s working. Good job. But be on guard. I am disconnecting the formation."

They all stepped back and the barrier disappeared. They were worried that the undead would go out of control. But it just stayed there.

Tamas and Night Ghost felt a bit strained. They could feel the weight of this undead on their minds. It was too much stronger than them and they shouldn’t be able to control it.

But the burden of it was divided among those two and they could see that it is stable.

"Sam, the burden is there, but it is light enough. Both of us can handle it. No need for plan b there."

"Good."

With that pressed another key and the shadow undead disappeared sealing it inside the formation disc.

Tamas carried it, and they went to rest before they could go to their next target.
