Re-Birth of a Genius. Creator/Destroyer

Chapter 2597: Proposal

Chapter 2597: Proposal

Watcher gathered everyone on the list. More than nine hundred of them. All of them at the initial stage of pretranscendent realm.

A lot of them can be considered geniuses of their respective generations. But more than half of them are actually old men who got stuck in this realm for a long time. Yet, because of the nature of the Daksh planet, they were constantly thrown into battles.

So, while they reached the upper limit of their potential, they are still seasoned veterans in terms of combat. They can more than make up for the lack of genius with their abundance of experience.

Every one of them stood in rank and file, like an organized troop, far away from the battlefield. They are so far away from chaos, they didn’t even feel like a war at the moment.

Watcher looked at them and cleared his throat. There is a faint sign of a blush on his face as he spoke.

"What I am about to say are neither my words, nor my instructions. Instead they are straight from the main base, from the powerhouse Shimmy.

You should follow these orders to the last letter. It is expected of you and your responsibility as a soldier in this war."

He paused for a moment.

All the soldiers looked at him with straight faces. But deep inside their heads, they were thinking why Watcher was so cautious with emphasising the details.

Then they realized why.

"We are going to target the friends of Sam with a specially crafted duel challenge..."

Then he proceeded to explain the whole plan. The more details he gave, the graver the faces of the soldiers became.

"Sir, this is..." One of the soldiers who belonged to the same faction as Watcher took the courage to speak up... But before he could finish his words, Watcher spoke.

"Shameless, unfair and completely and utterly without honor. I know. But we are doing it anyway. It complies with the rules and we are going to do it. Or more precisely, you guys are going to do it."

Everyone exchanged glances, their faces are already burning in shame.

Watcher clearly understood their feelings, but he ignored them anyway.

"So, who is going to issue the challenge."

No one stepped forward.

"While this might seem like a bad thing, or even a shameful thing, you will indeed get a chance to fight these great fighters. And this is a chance to make a great contribution to this war."

That moved some people.

Particularly, some old men who knew that they have no other ways to increase their glory anymore.

A little over twenty people stepped forward.

Watcher nodded at them and said.

"Don’t worry. I won’t let all of you bear the shame of this. I will be the first one to swallow this bitter pill.

Follow me."

He then took them towards the Hastin village. When he reached the vicinity of the front line battle zone, he took out a golden flag and hoisted it up on a pole, while continuing the walk.

Sam who watched the scene, commanded all the snakes to stop attacking.

The golden flag symbolizes something.

A parley.

They want to talk about something in a diplomatic way. And more often than not, its just some extra terms to decide on some battles.

Watcher stopped a few hundred meters away from the dome and yelled out loud.

"I am here to discuss some terms with Sam of Hastin village. Please heed my words and come here. We can reduce a lot of damage on both sides."

Sam smirked at the announcement.

With a wave of his hand, the bone dome sent him outside. He appeared right in front of Watcher.

"I am the Sam that you called for. Tell me, what do you guys want to talk about?

Judging by the way you guys pulled up this morning, I assumed you guys don’t believe in talking things out."

Watcher pursed his lips, took a deep breath and composed himself.

He didn’t know Sam would come with such a sharp tongue. Because no matter how one looks at it, Sam and Hastin village are the ones at disadvantage. The snakes caused trouble, but not to the point the war has tilted to their side.

So, he didn’t get why Sam is so confident.

In the same line of thought he didn’t get why there was such a special attention on the Sam. Sure they did use his tech a lot, but that’s about it. Why put so many guys through such a shameful ritual to deal with just one person?

He didn’t know. But he couldn’t afford to wonder about it and make decisions on it.

So, he did as he was told.

"I am here to offer you guys a chance at survival."

"I didn’t know it was threatened." Sam replied.

"Don’t be glib with me now, kid. You are smart enough to know that you guys don’t stand a chance. But if you didn’t put up a fight, then you wouldn’t be worthy of the ancient history of the Hastin village."

"I am still not worthy of that village’s ancient history. Because I am not part of the Hastin village." Sam interrupted him again.

Watcher took a deep breath and said.

"I saw that your friends are putting up a great fight out there. So, I am here to offer you guys a chance.

We have some contracts for duels. Let your friends and the fighters behind me duke it out on fair ground. Same clauses for both our sides. Same conditions.

For each duel we will put up a wager. It could be an order for surrender, retreat, or even annihilation of part of the troops. But of course it should be limited to the things within my power. You can’t go beyond that.

Are you up for it?"

Watcher tried to sound as confident as possible, without showing how panicked he really is.

Sam smiled.

"Sure, let’s do it."
