Chapter 2603: The weird Bamboo forest
"ARGHHHHHH...."
"FUCK..."
"WHO THE FUCK...."
Everyone screamed like crazy. They started throwing attacks in random directions, because they were all being attacked from random directions.
They couldn’t predict where the attack are coming from. Sure, the energy signatures and such became obvious, but that was no where near enough to understand what’s happening and why it is happening.
They felt lost and powerless.
All of this happened, just a minute into their presence in the bamboo forest.
Parna looking at the whole situation, felt confused and shocked.
She spread her divine senses to envelope the whole area. She didn’t leave an inch out. That’s how it had been ever since she took Sam’s challenge.
She focused even more when the first set of attacks landed. However, it didn’t help as much.
Now when she heard the screams all over, she took flight, levitated over the bamboo forest and concentrated on it like her life depended on it.
The scenes she saw shocked her to say the least.
At one spot, a woman, a direct subordinate of Parna is trying to head forward. But she is being bombarded. Invisible force... as if a force that comes from a really strong punch, is attacking her repeatedly.
As if that’s not enough, an earthen trap that came out of nowhere, a fire attack that hit her squarely on the back...
That’s the just the start.
The attacks came from every and any direction that’s practically possible.
They were relentless and at full strength.
When Parna tried to gauge where the attacks are coming from, she noticed that the energy around her subordinate is reacting weirdly. Almost as if the attacks just conjured around her.
She had a hard time believing it, but from what she saw next... that was the most feasible explanation.
The subordinate tried her best to move forward, even if it meant destroying the immediate surroundings. She attacked with all her might and ran... but not only were the bamboo unusually sturdy, to the point they are practically negating almost hundred percent of the attacks... no matter where the subordinate went, the attacks keep on manifesting.
And its not just that one subordinate.
Everyone else as well.
Every single soldier faced a similar situation. The only difference is that the attacks themselves are different.
Some ice, some lighting, some seemed like sword strikes and others are arrows.
The level of attacks varied as well. But they are relentless.
And the more the people struggled the more powerful the attacks had become as well.
Parna didn’t know how to make heads and tails of the situation.
"How the fuck are you doing this?"
She gazed towards the bone dome, trying to peer through that structure and hoping to catch a glimpse of Sam’s face... She wants to see what the fuck is he cooking up over there.
But of course, there is no way for her to do that.
"Everyone, stop fucking around and stay put."
She screamed the command. Everyone stopped in their tracks. None of them attacked anymore. They all went on defensive.
The bamboo forest that was so chaotic just a couple of seconds ago died down completely. Parna focused on the forest again. She was shocked again.
There is no damage on the forest. Not one bamboo was completely broken. They all basically stayed intact.
"Where did the attacks go?
Where the fuck did they go?"
She yelled out loud. Even as her façade of nonchalance was crumbling, she didn’t notice it. But she didn’t go crazy enough to not analyze the situation.
"Attack one more time. Aim to destroy the bamboos in your immediate surroundings."
The common command. Everyone attacked at the same time.
The energy reading went off the charts. The whole forest lit up with all kinds of attacks. And all of them landed....
"ARGHH..."
"FUCK..."
"DAMN IT...."
Parna was shocked. She finally saw what’s happening.
"Stop. Everyone fucking stop right now."
Everyone stopped. The attacks on everyone stopped as well.
Parna looked around and pointed at a certain person.
"You... right there. You attack. One, straight to the bamboo in the front."
The woman was pointed at, was shocked. She just tanked a full powered Ice spear without any defensive reinforcement. She is still shaken from that.
So, it took a couple of seconds for her to compose herself. She aimed a flaming attack at the bamboo. It disappeared like the bamboo surface just swallowed it whole. As if that is not enough, the next second, something else happened.
Far away, on the other edge of the forest.
*BOOM*
With a loud explosion, a candidate got hit by the fire from behind. It should have been an easy thing to sense and dodge for a person of that cultivation and position. But he was cleanly hit.
It wasn’t lethal at least.
"How is this possible?"
Parna ignored him and his scream along with the confusion of the rest of the people in the forest.
She held her forehead.
"How the fuck is this possible?"
She repeatedly cursed.
And then suddenly she heard, like a whisper.
"It is so unlady like to curse like that."
A whisper so calm and serene, but in the voice so familiar that drove her nuts.
"HOW?"
She screamed. But she couldn’t find an answer through that.
"I want all of you, to charge forward. Don’t attack. Even if there are any attacks coming at you, do not make an offensive move. Just tank it and run. You only focus on movement."
She yelled out loud.
The troops followed exactly that.
But just when they moved two feet forward, they were all overwhelmed by a suffocating feeling. The surroundings seemed to have constricted.
That suffocating feeling is not unfamiliar, but not completely familiar either.
But despite that feeling, they kept on running, charging forward.
They realized their senses are diminishing a bit. They couldn’t feel the end of the forest, no matter how fast they tried to run.
They should have covered miles by now, but they didn’t even see the forest’s end.
