Chapter 3615 Discount
Alex knew Whitesong was a great alchemist. He had heard his praises from Silvermist as well. So, he was looking forward to seeing just what the man could really do.
It wouldn't be soon, but far in the future would come a day when he would challenge that man to an alchemy competition, and the winner of that match would determine the next Alchemy God.
Redstreak moved the conversation forward, taking it in a different direction now. She asked Alex various questions, most of which revolved around what it was that he had done to gain the ire of the Storm God.
Not only that, she was also curious how it was that he had managed to hide from the god for over a millennium. Thousands upon thousands of Divinities had been placed on the lookout for him after all, so the fact that no one had found him was an absurd outcome for Redstreak.
Alex was only now beginning to understand that the regular Divinities that had no connections to the gods might actually have no clue as to why he was wanted by the Storm God at all.
All they understood was that the Storm God wanted him captured, and that doing so would gain them rewards that they could have never imagined.
Alex wasn't sure exactly what he wanted to answer here. He was surely not going to talk about the prophecies, but he did tell her how he managed to stay away from them by claiming that he had been in the Beast Realm this whole time.
"Oh? Which ones have you visited?" she asked.
"I've been to all three," Alex told her.
"All three?" Redstreak asked with a surprised look. Even Greensoul was somewhat taken aback. "Why did you go to so many places?"
"Well, I ended up on the Land of the Blessed Sun first, which is where I planned on spending the majority of my time. But something came up that required me to go to the Sun's Talon Realm. I did visit the Twin Scar Realm as well, but it was a brief visit since it just happened to be the path I was taking back."
"I see," the woman said.
They chatted for a while longer before Bearskin returned with a storage bag full of ingredients. "I have gathered everything you asked for. Please check it."
Alex took the storage bag and looked through it all before slowly nodding.
"What did he ask for?" Redstreak asked, and the caretaker handed her a talisman.
She looked through the talisman for some time, a small frown appearing on her face as she went through it all. "That's an odd selection of ingredients. I can't tell what purpose they will serve. What are you trying to do with these?"
"I need these for many different pills I'm making," Alex said.
"Really? None of them fall under any recipe I am aware of," she said. "You must already have the rest of the ingredients, which is why this is such a strange assortment of ingredients."
"I do," Alex said. "I'm making many different pills that I can't go into detail on. I'm doing some experiments with them, which is why I need them all."
"I see," Redstreak said. "Well, good luck with that."
Alex went through the rest of the ingredients before nodding. "That's all I need," he told the man and brought out a stack of spirit stones that he had prepared in advance for the payment.
The price of the total ingredients had come up to 24 million spirit stones.
Bearskin looked toward Redstreak with a strange expression on his face.
Redstreak grimaced slightly. "I would usually not ask for a guest to pay for what they buy, but this is such a large amount of ingredients that I'm afraid I can't do that. I can give you a discount, however. Bearskin, use the employee discount for Alchemist Dawnblade here."
"Of course," the man said quickly, calculating a new price. He gave the price, which had come down to 18 million, which was still a lot. But Alex didn't hesitate to pay it.
He was, however, curious how it came down to that price.
"The employee discount gives 20% off to all Supreme Alchemists and 33% off to all Prime Alchemists. You obviously received the latter."
"Okay…" Alex said, unsure if he should accept that at all. "I am not an employee, though. So I would appreciate it if I could pay the full price."
"That's fine. Just pay the discounted price."
"I'm also not a Prime Alchemist, however," Alex told the woman. "I'm only a Supreme Alchemist."
Redstreak's eyes narrowed in obvious doubt. "Why would you lie about that?"
Alex shook his head. "It's not a lie. I am a Prime Alchemist in name, but I have yet to become one officially."
The woman still didn't understand. "What do you mean?"
Alex told her the truth.
"Before I was found by my master, I was only a regular Superior Alchemist," he explained. "I had the talent, but I never had the chance to rank up. Then, when I was finally meant to leave with him for the tournament, I took the test to become a Supreme Alchemist."
"But once I left, I was busy training all the time and never got a chance to take any more tests to become anything else. From taking the test, I was directly placed into the tournament."
"I understand that I am a Prime Alchemist by talent and skill alone. But technically speaking, I have not taken the test to become one. I must still take that test someday," Alex said.
Redstreak stared with wide eyes, unable to believe that he wasn't even a Prime Alchemist before the tournament date.
"Our Alchemy Pavilion handles the trials, if you want to gain your rank officially," Redstreak said.
Alex shook his head. "That's fine. I think it's more fun if I just never take the test at this point."
