Chapter 3619 Peace Talk
"Her Holiness?" the Sky God's eyes narrowed. "Whoever is that supposed to refer to? Your Priestess? Or is it the Realm Mother?"
Ravenwing almost seemed offended at the suggestion that those two could ever be who she was referring to.
"Of course it's not either of them," she answered. "I'm referring to the one and only god our people have. The Moon Goddess."
The several gods didn't react much at all. The demons' obsession with the Moon Goddess was a well-known fact to everyone. That was the only person they would ever pray to.
"And your… Holiness… is real?" the Sky God asked.
"Of course she is," Ravenwing said, this time properly offended. "Why would she ever be a lie?"
"You have claimed her to be your god for so long that it's hard to tell whether she is real or not. How could we ever trust that your god is back?" the Sky God asked. "And you speak of bringing eternal peace. That sounds quite close to death. Is that what you intend for us all to talk about?"
Ravenwing held a mirthless expression, her eyes deep in thought.
"This is strange."
"What is?" the Sky God asked.
"You seem to be mocking me because I said our goddess has truly returned."
The Sky God quickly shook her head. "I'm not mocking you. It's just a little hard to believe. We have had no evidence of that after all. You are the first person we've heard this from."
"That's even stranger," Ravenwing said. "Her Holiness said that the humans would likely know about her return. Did the Sun God not tell you of her return?"
"The Sun God?"
The Sky God's head slowly turned as she looked toward Bladedance, who sat next to her.
Bladedance scratched her cheek, realizing she had been caught. "I was asked not to relay this information to you. He wasn't sure what you all would do if you were to find out."
The Sky God's eyes narrowed even further. "So it is true? There is a Moon Goddess now?"
Bladedance nodded. "I refused to believe it myself, but it seems he was right. She has returned. Or at least, someone claiming to be one has returned. And if the demons trust her to be one, then she may just be one."
The Sky God held a strange expression. She looked to the end of the seats where the Divination God sat with a calm expression on his face.
"How much of it is true?" she asked.
"I cannot say much, Your Brilliance. I merely suggest that you move forward with this conversation as though you have been convinced this is the truth."
"Should I be convinced or not?" she asked.
"That's entirely your choice."
The other gods held strange expressions as well. The arrival of the Moon Goddess was perhaps the biggest event they had heard regarding the demons since the end of the war.
It was probably the biggest event since the death of the World Tree. And if they were to consider the possibility of what would happen in the future, it was easily the biggest thing to happen to the demons in recorded history.
The Moon Goddess's arrival was significant because she was the only known True God in the world.
The Sky God didn't fully believe that she was a real True God and not some new Half-God that the demons had managed to create. However, even in that case, she had to go along with it with the same mindset as though she were a True God.
The sheer number of demons that prayed to her would most likely make her the strongest Half-God that ever existed, which might as well make her a True God.
"What is the name of your new Moon Goddess?" the Sky God asked.
"You need not know that," Ravenwing said. "You may refer to her as Her Holiness as well."
"That's fine. I'll just refer to her as the Moon Goddess," the Sky God said. "And you have come here on behalf of her to talk about creating peace among us?"
"Yes."
"Is that to mean that there is no peace between us?" the Sky God asked. "I thought that was what the treaty was for a hundred thousand years ago."
Ravenwing sighed. "Spare us this drivel, Sky God. You and I and everyone here know that the treaty was merely an end to the war. It had nothing to do with peace. If there were ever any peace between us, then I would not be treated like this in your palace. Your entire palace would not be emptied just because of my arrival. I respect you as a god and a woman. Don't lower yourself in my eyes."
The Sky God could only cross her arms and lean back upon hearing all of that.
"Fine. I won't. Your Holiness wants to speak of peace? Why?"
"You understand it, don't you? Our two factions are about to enter another war. The seers have seen it. The world knows it. At this point, all we're waiting for is an excuse. As soon as we find one, the war of old will return once again."
The Sky God remained silent. She could not refute that at all.
"Our Holiness wishes to prevent that before it can happen. That is why she sent me to you."
The Sky God nodded slowly. "She wishes to convince us through you?"
"No. I'm just a messenger. Our Holiness will do the convincing herself once you and the other gods meet her," Ravenwing said. "The meeting is going to take place in the Beast Realm once again. I've talked to the four families there and they have accepted it already. As soon as they are done with their own matters, they will arrange for our peace meeting immediately."
The Sky God remained silent. "Alright. If that is what your goddess wants, then maybe we can arrange for it."
"Please do. Our goddess will surely convince you all to never go to war again."
