Chapter 3663: Visiting Renye

Chapter 3663: Visiting Renye

Someone came to bring Alex to the Sky God’s palace the next morning, wherein the Sky God sat him down and spoke of a few things regarding the visit that was going to happen.

"It will be a strict visit, so I won’t allow for any physical interaction between you and Renye, nor will I allow you to pass along anything to him," she explained. "He is serving out his punishment for the crimes he has committed, so you will not do anything to involve yourself in that facet of his life in there."

Alex nodded slowly. "Can I talk to him?" he asked.

"Of course. That is not under any restriction," the woman said.

"Including any topic?"

The Sky God shrugged. "No topic is off the table. You may discuss anything you want with him. However, the entire visit shall only last 2 hours in total. And I cannot allow anyone else to be present during this visit, so if I sense any spiritual sense other than just yours, or If you attempt to record something, I will cancel the visit immediately. Is that understood?"

Alex was quite impressed with how detailed the Sky God was being about this one test. She had even thought of people sneaking out their senses through his Soul Space to get a look at things.

"I won’t," Alex answered. "Although, that most likely means I cannot request Ronron or sister Hao Ya to accompany me on this visit, doesn’t it?"

"I’m afraid so. If they are able to do something of great merit to the palace or to me, I shall consider letting them meet him, but as of now, they will get no such chances."

That was quite strict, but Alex understood. Somewhat, at least.

Once all the details were settled, Alex and the Sky God made their way toward Renye’s courtyard. It was a similar courtyard to every single other one, except with a strict set of soldiers standing before the courtyard on guard.

Compared to every other such guard, these ones were clearly the strongest out there, with each one high in the Divine Manifestation realm. Anywhere else, they would be leaders of their own sects or families, but here, they were forced to guard what was essentially an empty house for all that mattered.

They bowed as the Sky God walked up to them, giving their greeting. The Sky God gave a nod and gestured for them to open the gates.

As Alex watched with a confused look, there appeared to be a set of steps that had to be taken before one could enter the courtyard, which included shutting down what he barely glimpsed to be some sort of formation.

"Follow me," the Sky God said and walked in through the gate. Alex followed behind, stepping in. As soon as he stepped into the courtyard, his entire body grew tense, his hair standing on end.

A deep sense of unease sprang from within him in that moment as he slowly looked around at what the courtyard actually looked like now.

Withered grass and trees covered the outer yard, as though they hadn’t been watered in centuries. A strange sort of humidity hung in the air, almost making it smell stale. The way the air didn’t even circulate made Alex feel even worse about the place.

The sky was fully dark, even though light was clearly reaching them all. It was as if one could not see anything outside of this place thanks to a barrier that had been put into place.

The same barrier also halted all sound from the outside, adding to the eerie sensation that the courtyard held.

Alex hated this place immediately.

"What is this?" he asked slowly. "It feels like a realm of the dead, but I can’t sense any Death aura here."

Just as Alex said as much, he realized something else as well. "Actually, I can’t sense anything in the slightest. What is this strange feeling?" he asked out loud.

His spiritual sense was working perfectly fine in that there was no suppression upon it, limiting how far he could see. However, there seemed to be some sort of formation running inside that affected the way his spiritual sense worked.

While he could sense the physical makeup of things, he could neither tell their colors, nor if they were making any sound. In fact, even the physical makeup of the objects he sensed was rather fuzzy.

Instantly, Alex used the Spirit Reversal Technique, and his body suddenly fought off any effect that was being placed upon him. While his Qi was drained at a rather quick rate, he got to enjoy his spiritual senses once again just as they had to be.

The unease he felt also vanished.

Everything else, however, remained the same.

He stopped using the technique.

"What was that?" the Sky God asked as she sensed something from him.

"Just a technique, senior," he answered. "I was trying to check if I could fight back the effects of the formations upon me."

The Sky God raised an eyebrow. "Did it work?"

Alex gave a half shrug. "It sort of did, and it sort of didn’t. Not everything seemed to be an effect on me, so I was only able to stop a few things."

"Hmm, that’s interesting still," the Sky God said with an amused look.

Alex ignored whatever she was thinking and looked around. "Where is he?" he asked. He couldn’t sense the man anywhere at all.

For the briefest of moments, Alex had a feeling that Yang Renye had long since been killed off, and him being alive was a lie to keep Ronron and everyone else’s hopes up.

News as devastating as that would have certainly caused issues with their cultivation bases.

Thankfully, it appeared Alex had only been overthinking it in the end.

"Renye!" the Sky God spoke out loud, her voice carried by the wind to reach the deep recesses of the house. "You have company."

A short while later, Yang Renye emerged from inside the house, stepping outside for the first time in probably forever.
