Chapter 3670: Red Heaven
A decade or so passed, during which time Alex came close to forming the technique for Pearl. However, he struggled to make full use of the body cultivation aspect of the White Tiger’s technique, so he needed to continue making changes to it.
As for his Origins, they were close to being done. His Void Gate Origin was the one that had lagged behind, mostly because opening a Void Gate inside the Sky God’s palace turned out to be much more difficult than anywhere else.
The space within the palace was stronger, partially due to the formations that were active, and partially due to the Celestial Qi that was present everywhere. Space wasn’t as easily affected thanks to that.
Because of that, Void Gates could only remain open for so long inside of the palace.
There was still progress, and that was enough for him.
Alex wanted to continue cultivating, but he was called over by the Sky God on one particular day and was told to bring Ronron along with him. Curious, he called Ronron out and went to visit the Sky God.
Once they arrived, the Sky God called them in.
The Sky God’s eyebrows raised slightly upon noticing her disciple. "Immortal Origin 4th realm?" she asked with no small hint of surprise. She turned to Alex. "Your Soul Space is actually as mysteriously powerful as Bladedance said it was."
Alex smiled. "I can’t take all the credit. Ronron herself is responsible for her speed. It doesn’t hurt that cultivating underneath the World Tree is beneficial for her."
"Well, I can’t say I’m not surprised," the Sky God said.
Ronron gave a slightly embarrassed smile. "How can I be of aid, master?"
"It’s time," the Sky God said. "The Red Heaven Realm is opening in a month."
"Oh!" Ronron said, slightly taken aback. "I thought we were already past that. My understanding of time has been really fuzzy lately."
Alex looked at the two. "The Red Heaven Realm? What is that?"
"It’s a secret realm in the north. It opens every thousand years for the younger generations of the Sky God Realm," Ronron said. "One must be in the Immortal realm to enter it. I was too weak last time around, so I didn’t go. I was supposed to go this time around, but after I took the pill, I thought I wouldn’t be going this time either. But I’ve progressed fast enough that it might be fair for me to go."
"Oh? Is this the secret realm you told me about?" Alex asked the Sky God.
The Sky God nodded.
Alex remembered what the Sky God had told him back then and frowned slightly. "When I asked you what the secret realm was about, senior, you gave me a rather cryptic answer back then. You said... you hadn’t decided yet?"
Newheaven nodded. "We hadn’t decided what sort of secret realm this would be."
Alex shook his head in confusion. "What does that mean?" he asked. "Can you decide how the secret realm functions? Are you the one making the secret realm?"
"Practically, yes," the Sky God said. "Every thousand years, we prepare the Red Heaven Realm for our disciples and allow them to go train in it. Sometimes it’s based on exploration. Sometimes on battles. The one before last time, it was a battle tournament in its entirety."
"What about this time?" Alex asked.
The Sky God smiled a little. "I’m afraid you’ll have to find out along with everyone else."
Alex laughed a little. "That’s fair. So, I’m assuming every part of this Red Heaven Realm is completely prepared by other cultivators? As in, nothing we find there will be naturally formed."
"Pretty much," the Sky God said.
"It’s actually a desert in the north, so there won’t be anything useful to be found to begin with," Ronron added.
Alex nodded slowly, while seemingly being confused at the same time. "So... why do I have to go there? It doesn’t sound particularly fun for me. Going up against other Immortals isn’t the most challenging stuff either."
"You’re going there for exactly that reason. Nothing in there will be a challenge for you," she said. "So you will become the best person to look after your daughter."
Alex’s eyes slowly widened, and he couldn’t help but laugh out loud. "So, the only reason I’m going there is to look after Ronron?" he asked.
The Sky God nodded with no smile on her face. "Will that be an issue?"
"No," Alex quickly answered. "That’s perfectly fine."
He turned toward Ronron. "How is your body cultivation?"
Ronron quickly gave a thumbs up. "I haven’t had the chance to get to the elixir, so it’s fine. I should only be in the Immortal Transcendent realm right now."
"That works well for us. You’ll take part in the tournament," Alex said. "Is anyone else taking part?"
"Anyone who wants to take part can. It just comes with a small fee, but that’s irrelevant for us," she said. "Do you have someone in mind?"
"Well... I think it will be a fun time for my mother and aunt as well. And maybe my brother-in-law too," Alex mused out loud. "Sister Hao Ya can try too."
"What about Grandfather?" Ronron asked. "And Uncle Pearl, Uncle Whisker, and Aunt Scarlet?"
"No, it won’t do much for them. Your grandfather’s strength is too much for this secret realm, and the others have already had enough adventures. I think I’ll just take the others. Oh, and senior Battlesage. He’s too strong for it too, but he’ll most definitely appreciate getting to take part in a secret realm."
Ronron nodded. "We’ll have to tell them then."
"We will," Alex said.
"Well, there are about 2 more months before it starts, so you can be ready for it," the Sky God told them.
Alex nodded. "It’s quite the coincidence though."
"What is?" the Sky God asked.
"That this secret realm opens around the same time the Godkiller’s tomb is opening," Alex said, before realizing something. "It... is a coincidence, right?"
