Chapter 3708: Tower of Knowledge

Alex and the group entered the tower without much expectation as to what they were getting into. They were simply ready for whatever came their way.

As soon as they entered, they found the inside of the tower to be separated into several layers of chambers around the edges, rising all the way to the seventh floor above. Each room held a door with either a glowing red symbol above it or a dull green one.

As Alex considered what he was to do there, the tower’s spirit spoke directly to him.

"Floor 6, Room 32."

Alex blinked in surprise, looking toward the others, who seemed to have heard something as well.

"Did you guys get told of a room too?" Liz asked as she turned around, and everyone nodded.

"Let’s not waste time," Alex said. "We should enter the rooms before we get punished for being late."

Everyone nodded and flew toward their respective rooms. Alex flew up to Floor 6 and looked back to see where everyone else was going.

Ronron and Battlesage were on Floor 4, Helen was on Floor 3, and Liz was on Floor 7. The floors didn’t seem to be separated in any meaningful way, so he could only believe that there wasn’t any method to the rooms they were sent to.

If there was, Alex would find out soon.

Alex pushed on the door of the room above which a dull green light lay, likely implying its vacant state. The door opened easily, and once Alex walked inside, it shut behind him.

The inside of the room was quite surprising. Not because there was something inside, but rather because there was nothing.

It was a two-by-two-foot room at best, only large enough for a person to stand in, with empty walls all around. It felt as though he was inside a closet rather than a room. The door shut behind him, leaving Alex to wonder just what test one could take while standing in this tiny room where he couldn’t even move his arms around freely.

A voice came just then, much less intelligent than the one that had welcomed them, although it still sounded the same.

"Welcome to the Tower of Knowledge," the voice said. "Your knowledge shall now be tested with 100 questions. If you answer a question correctly, you shall receive one point. If you answer incorrectly, you shall lose one point. In the end, you shall receive stars based on your points."

Alex’s eyebrows rose a little. "A knowledge test, huh?" he asked, looking around the room as he understood why it lacked so much. "You wouldn’t need much if it’s just questions and answers."

The voice didn’t wait for his approval.

"You will have 10 seconds to answer each question, starting now. What is the cultivation realm that comes after the Divine Manifestation Realm?"

"Divine Domain Realm," Alex answered.

He hadn’t expected the first question to be this easy. If all questions were that easy, it would be a walk in the park.

"Correct. At what distance from the center of any realm does outer space start? Get within 5 kilometers," the voice asked.

Alex thought for a bit. The air thinned at a constant rate when going up, so there could only be an arbitrary answer if it was related to that. It was likely that outer space started at the end of the atmosphere, where Heaven stopped working.

Heaven pushed down upon a person the farther up they tried to go, and the pushback stopped at a certain point in the sky. If it was from the center of the realm, then...

"50 kilometers?"

"Correct. 52.2 Kilometers, " the voice said.

Alex breathed a sigh of relief. He only had his experience to help with this answer, so he was happy he got it correct.

"What are the seven cardinal cities of the Sky God’s realm?"

Alex blinked. "Uhh..."

He could hardly answer that question at all. He had been to a few cities by now, but as to what those cities possibly were, he hadn’t the faintest idea.

"Sky God’s Palace," he said, starting with the one answer that was most likely there.

"Wrong!" the voice said, surprising Alex. "Who is the founder of the Sky Burning Sect?"

Alex could only stare blankly. He hadn’t even heard of the sect he was being asked about. It wasn’t even one of the three big sects in the Seven pillars either.

"Skip," he said in the end.

"Wrong. Between Fire element and Water element of equal strength, what prevails?" the voice asked.

"Fire," Alex answered.

At least he knew that much.

"Correct," the voice said. "What is the name of the Sky God?"

Alex was stumped once again. He wanted to answer ’Newheaven’, but he knew that was wrong. That was her Daoist title, not her actual name. Her name was... something he didn’t know.

"Pass," he said in the end, sighing.

This test was going so much worse than he had expected it to.

As more questions came, Alex answered some, but others he couldn’t answer at all. The questions appeared to be meant for an Immortal cultivator living in the Sky God’s realm, to whom this would all be simple trivia knowledge.

But to Alex, who had barely had the time to learn about the place outside the confines of the Sky God’s Palace, most of the questions were something he could not answer at all.

Of the 100 questions Alex was asked, he hadn’t even managed to answer 60 questions in total. Those that he did answer were related to cultivation, while the ones he failed on were specific to the Sky God’s realm. He could only answer two of those questions, one of which was related to the Han family of the Broken Spear Valley, and another about the poison sect helmed by Somberskull.

Beyond that, his result was atrocious.

When Alex walked out of the room after all 100 questions were done, he only had 10 stars in his hand.
