Chapter 3784: The Two Snakes

The crowd watched with awe and shock on their faces. They had heard about the man who called himself the Sun God and how he won nearly every challenge he fought against anyone. People who knew who Alex was knew that he was strong, but what they were seeing was beyond their understanding.

Even if it was with whatever unseen aid he had, he was going toe to toe against a Divinity, and not a new one at that either. An Immortal should have lost after an attack or two at best, and Alex had lasted through multiple attacks. And on one of those attacks, it even looked like the Divinity had come out worse.

They could not imagine how it was possible at all.

The Divinity tried to keep his distance while attacking Alex however he could. He seemed to understand that Alex’s strength was temporary, so if he could let it run out, he would win.

Alex couldn’t argue against that man’s thoughts, as he truly would run out of his Spiritual energy soon if this continued. However, if he could waste enough time by simply dodging around instead of fighting back, there was a chance for him to win.

Alex used all the tricks he could. He teleported around. He distorted space. He used various Daos.

However, they did not help as much as he hoped since the Divinity was very good at realizing where he was and what he was doing. The Divine sense the man had was much better than Alex’s spiritual sense. It was a difference in quality itself.

One of these times, Alex left behind a doppelganger of himself to distract the man while he ran away from the location, remaining completely hidden, but the man quickly realized that wasn’t the real Alex. He didn’t immediately find the real Alex for some time, but he could tell Alex could not have left that far away.

So, he let out a wave of attacks in all directions, forcing Alex to reappear once again. Even if he went back to hiding again, the man would likely know how he did it.

If Alex really wanted to win, he would have hidden himself among the crowd of Immortals far away, but that wasn’t how he wanted to win this. He wanted his win against the Divinity to be genuine.

Last time, he had used his blood beasts and Blood Devil form to even get as close as possible to fighting against a Divinity. And even then, he had needed Ray’s help in actually killing the man. At the moment, Alex wanted to do this with his own strength, albeit with a slight aid.

With more than half the time already gone, the Divinity grew more restless. He wanted Alex to run out of whatever he was doing to gain his strength, so he decided to be more direct with his actions. Staying away and hoping to run Alex dry just wasn’t working.

He rushed toward Alex, the two snakes moving right alongside him.

Alex struck away the first snake, while the man came in next, coming down at him. Doing this would mean the man would take direct damage to his Soul via his Creation. Alex did just that and struck at him.

However, before the attack could land, the man used a defensive technique that blocked it. The mental damage that should have landed on the Creation instead landed on the barrier, and it hardly did anything to the man.

At the same time, strong Divine Qi surrounded him, instantly grabbing Alex. Alex brought out his Yang energy to try and force against the Qi. It worked nearly as well as Alex had hoped, but that turned out to be a distraction in and of itself.

The real attack came from the snake that managed to cross the distance and bite him in the thigh. Alex saw the purple eyes of the snake glow brightly for a second before it let go, moving back just quickly enough that Alex couldn’t attack it.

At the same time, the man retreated as well and slowed down, no longer looking as intent on finishing the fight quickly. To him, the battle was more or less over.

Alex didn’t feel anything at all, so he could only wonder why the man had stopped. He turned toward the man and asked, "What’s wrong? Are we stopping, perchance? The time is still running."

"I’ve won," the man said, to Alex’s surprise. The direct exclamation wasn’t what he had expected.

"You’ve won? How?" Alex asked.

There was still around 4 minutes remaining, so it was far from over.

"My snake has just bitten you and injected poison into your body," he said as he rubbed the head of the golden snake with the purple eyes.

"Poison? I don’t feel it."

"No, because it won’t act right away. It is dormant at the moment, waiting for my order. Even without my order, it will activate all on its own in a day, but that’s not really what we care about," the man said. He pointed toward his other snake with the bright yellow eyes. "This snake has an antidote. If you give up now, I will give you the antidote. If you don’t, I will let you suffer for a while and then have you give up before giving you the antidote. Either way, the only way for you out of this situation is to give up and allow me to give you the antidote."

Alex narrowed his eyes, not saying anything immediately. He let the time pass, acting as though he was in deeper concentration than he really was. Then he looked back at the man.

"And what if I don’t?" Alex asked. "Will you let me die?"

The man didn’t answer for a moment as he considered the options. Then he nodded.

"If you die, then it will be because of your own hubris," he said as he raised his hand. "Now choose. Will you give up, or will you be poisoned and die?"
