Chapter 3801: Finished Forging
The Artifact God was focused on the scale for some time, trying to understand its properties. A Flood Dragon’s scale wasn’t so common a material that she could just tell what it was and what it could do just by looking at it.
Unlike everything else, this one she had to try her hardest to learn.
She wanted to keep her focus on that for as long as she could, but from time to time, she turned to look at Alex as he made the sword.
Since he had already extracted the metal, his next task was to melt it fully and form a sword. There were many moulds present in the workshop, and Alex used one of them. He brought out a hammer and anvil of his own and started beating on the freshly moulded sword.
The Artifact God listened to the sonorous sounds of the hammer hitting metal, the sharp ting coming at uniform intervals as Alex tempered the sword. The woman was surprised at the lack of variation in his strikes, which was exactly what one desired for a perfect tempering.
There wasn’t much need for Alex to perform any Metal compounding since there wasn’t a lot of metal to work with in the first place, so he directly moved into adding Qi-lines into the sword. Alex knew a few different variations of Qi-lines to use, so he chose one.
It was a simple Qi-line to partially store someone’s Qi and use it along with an attack. It was one of the more commonly used ones.
Once finished, Alex quenched the sword using his own Dao and presented it to the Artifact God.
"I’m done, Senior."
The woman moved from the dragon scale and walked up to Alex. She took the sword from his hand and looked through it. She couldn’t help but nod along.
"Excellent blacksmithing skills," she said after a while. "Well done."
Alex smiled and let out a soft sigh.
She continued holding the sword and moved it around a little, judging it some more. She really had no complaints, so she placed it back down.
"Tell me, what was that fire you used before? The yellow one," she asked. "I don’t think you used any other fire back during the alchemy tournament, did you?"
"No," Alex said, opening his palm as he created the Sun Fire in his palm once again. The moment it appeared, the woman was forced to take a few steps back.
"Strange. I’ve never felt something so hot before in my life," she said. "It’s hotter than my own flame."
The Artifact God opened her palm, revealing a white fire that burned with a lot of heat, but against Sun Fire, it simply didn’t stand a chance.
"Are you aware of what Sun Fire is, Senior?" Alex asked.
The woman narrowed her eyes immediately. Even if she had never seen it, as someone involved directly with one of the two major professions that dealt with various types of flames, there was not a chance she hadn’t read about it in some record or document.
Her eyes narrowed, refusing to believe for even a moment that the flame before her was just that.
"I have read it. The Sun Fire is supposed to be the fire of the Three-Legged Crow, isn’t it?" she asked. "It’s considered to be the hottest fire out there."
Alex nodded. "This is Sun Fire."
The woman had expected Alex to say that in the back of her mind, but to actually hear it out loud, she still couldn’t believe it.
Her eyes remained narrowed and in doubt. "How did you come by that fire? It’s supposed to have gone extinct."
"I received it the same time I gained the status of the Sun God," Alex said, spreading his arms a little as though allowing the woman to use her senses on him.
Her eyes widened finally upon hearing that. She had been told about Alex’s sudden advancement into the Half-God status and had been trying to ignore it until this time. But since he claimed it happened at the same time, she could only trust it.
If she could believe an Immortal could be a Half-God, then believing he had the Sun Fire as well wasn’t much more difficult.
"That’s... incredible," she said.
Alex didn’t really know how to react to her surprise except to wait for it to pass.
The Artifact God looked at him again. "And that cauldron from before, it was the cauldron you use to make your pills, right?"
Alex nodded.
"Then it must be the same one that went through Artifact Tribulation back then," she said.
Alex nodded again.
The woman let out a brief sigh. Considering how rare it was, she didn’t know what to say.
"Do you know how rare Artifact Tribulations are?" she asked. "I’ve only heard of a few happening in my entire lifetime. And of those, I’ve only witnessed two with my own eyes."
Alex raised his eyebrows. "Is mine one of them?" he asked.
She nodded. "Yours was the second I saw. The first one was when my master made the sword that killed him. I didn’t see him go through the tribulation itself, but I saw the tribulation itself."
Alex nodded. That had partially been the reason for the sword changing from what they had intended in the first place. An artifact that went through tribulation could do more than it was previously created for.
"Would you mind if I go through your cauldron when I have the time?" she asked. "If I did that, I may learn some secret to get artifacts to go through tribulations."
Alex thought for a bit and shrugged. "I don’t mind."
The Artifact God was happy. "Alright. Great. Let’s get back to the lesson at hand."
Alex was more than happy to.
"You know a lot about smithing, but just how much do you know about artifacts?" she asked before bringing out two different metal ingots and tossing them at Alex.
"Tell me the properties of these two metals. What they are good at. What they aren’t good at."
