Chapter 3876: The Name

Chapter 3876: The Name

When Alex placed the spirits into the sword, he noticed a rejection from it. It wasn’t a full rejection, as the sword somewhat recognized the spirits that came from it. But it also didn’t recognize them enough to fully accept them.

Alex narrowed his eyes for a second, realizing what the issue was. This was perhaps the most obvious of all the problems he had faced during the making of this sword.

And similarly, he also believed this to have the best solution of all of them.

The state his two swords had been in at the start was not the same state they had ended up in. More than that, they had been thoroughly cleansed by the purest Yang one could find anywhere in any world. Because of that, their state had changed far too much compared to what the spirits had been.

Because of this very reason, the sword did not fully recognize the spirits enough to take them in without any hesitation.

The solution to this perhaps could have been for him to try and force the two spirits to merge together and become one, but Alex believed there to be an easier solution.

He placed the spirits back into the sword, and despite the rejection this time, he forced them in. The spirits entered the sword with relative ease, though they would be pushed out should Alex let go of his attention on them.

While keeping the spirits inside, Alex reached for his forehead and made a single cut. From the cut came a single drop of blood, bright crimson and containing a powerful aura.

This was Alex’s Blood Essence, one of three whole drops, which could be said to be the single greatest thing Alex owned. Without it, Alex was weakened severely and would need ages to recuperate. He understood just how necessary it was for him not to waste it, but at this moment, he simply needed to.

Regular blood worked for Blood Refinement too, but with his current lack of Blood aura, most of which had been wasted protecting him from all the damage he had received, he thought it proper to use his Blood Essence instead.

This way, he could be assured that he was using only the best of the best he had.

And more than that, it was something he felt he needed for the two spirits inside the sword.

The moment Alex placed the drop of Blood Essence onto the sword, it swallowed the drop like a hungry beast, becoming even stronger in aura than it had been before.

Because of the drop of Blood Essence, the sword was also being refined, which caused it to attempt to create a Nascent spirit of its own. However, because of the presence of the spirits within the sword, it couldn’t. Instead, the energy that would’ve formed the spirit went into the half-merged spirits and began merging them.

Midnight and the spirit of the Demon-Killing Sword, which had previously been a part of Godslayer, began becoming one and the same.

Alex waited excitedly for the spirit to form, but even as the two spirits merged and became closer to the sword, he could tell that it would not be complete.

He hesitated for just a moment before making the instant decision to do what had to be done. He reached for his forehead again and drew out a second drop of Blood Essence. It was an incredibly risky task that Alex was undertaking, but given the situation, he saw nothing else he could do.

He had to do it, or the sword might not fully form at all.

So, he poured the second drop onto the sword and let it absorb it.

The sword took in the second drop of Blood Essence and grew stronger in aura once again. The sword itself pulsed with a crimson glow before returning to a yellow one, and the spirits within changed once again. Their two halves were now fully becoming one, the black and white becoming gray first before taking on a deep yellow hue.

The spirit now belonged to the sword, glowing bright yellow.

The moment the spirit reached resonance with the sword, a deep ringing sound spread throughout the workshop. At the same time, it increased in glow again, becoming brighter than ever.

The sword announced its readiness to the world, though the world did not respond in any way.

Alex reached down for the sword, and despite its heat, he raised it high into the air. He held up the bright sword, hot and yellow, a quiet announcement of the sword’s completion.

Now, only one thing remained.

"You need a name," Alex said.

The spirit inside the sword buzzed slightly. It was more than nascent, though not fully a spirit yet. Despite the enormous amount of energy that had gone into its formation, it was still very much young.

Like a child, it waited for its parent to speak first.

Alex looked at the sword, the bright light giving him inspiration for its name.

He smiled a little.

"You were two before. Godslayer and Midnight," Alex said. "You are now one. Though one, you will not forget whence you came. So, you shall be named after the two."

"You shall take on my name as your meaning," he said out loud, partially remembering what Liz had said back then. "My name is Dawnblade, and you shall become a blade of the dawn."

He paused for a moment before speaking again.

"And you shall have that meaning as your name," he said softly. "The dawn brings the sun and ends the night, and you shall be the same. You shall be a sword of the incoming sun, a sword meant to destroy the darkness. A sword meant to slay the night."

He lifted the sword higher than ever, pouring Qi into it and causing it to glow brighter than ever.

The spirit buzzed in excitement as it heard what it would soon be called.

"I give you this name."

"Nightslayer."
