Chapter 3886: Desperate for Energy
Alex could tell from the start that the two Daos were going to take him a lot of time to learn. Even with the incubating beast cores he was eating or even with Nightslayer right before him, it was going to take him a long time to learn the two Daos.
Alex wouldn’t be surprised if it took him more than a few years for each one.
Unlike other Daos, Yang and Yin Daos were incredibly difficult to learn, after all. Instead, it probably would have taken him ages to learn them had it not been for the fact that his closeness with Yang was so good. Otherwise, learning them in a few years would be a foregone conclusion.
Alex considered his options once again, trying to see if there was something better he could do to speed up his cultivation instead of learning another Dao. Unfortunately, the only other good option lowered his lifespan. While he wasn’t as averse to doing that, he thought it better to give this a try first.
Since he was eating the beast cores anyway, he had at least some resources to cultivate with in the meantime instead of wasting his time learning two Daos.
Alex decided he didn’t want to do both at once since he didn’t believe it would matter as much in the end. After all, unless he was trying for some bigger Dao in the end, such as the True Water Dao, there was no point in doing it all at once.
The reason why he couldn’t do the Water Daos separately was that since he was close to learning the other two Daos, there was a fear of the Worldly Laws forcing the remaining Daos upon him and making him learn the True Water Dao directly.
That was something that had happened to him with the Fire Dao long ago. He had only learned a few Fire Daos before the others came to him like a dam had been removed, all flooding into him at once.
That fear was not something that existed with the Yang Dao since he had only learned a single one for now. If, by some chance, that did happen, then that was all the better for him. He would always welcome them.
Another benefit to doing it one at a time was also the fact that he could speed up his own understanding of the other Yang Daos while he was focused on learning just one. The Worldly Laws let him see into more than just the Dao he was looking into, after all.
He could learn others while gaining a single one.
For that reason alone, Alex started with a single Dao.
The Dao of Purging.
The Energy inside the incubating beast core held the Dao of Purging. When it entered his stomach, his stomach devoured that beast core, using the same Dao of Purging to purge the beast core entirely, turning it into Energy. The yellow fog, both in his Soul Space and his mind, worked partially through the properties of the aura of Purging as well.
And finally, the sword before him held a potent aura of Purging as well, though that was buried beneath 8 other familiar auras of Yang.
With so many examples of the Dao of Purging, Alex began learning the Dao to the best of his capacity.
Time passed swiftly. The formation he cultivated upon slowly became worse over time compared to what it used to be. When he started, it would slow down time by 20-fold. And now, it had lost a quarter of its strength and become 15-fold.
The speed at which the aura was being removed had lowered quite a bit since the start, so it should become weaker much more slowly than before. However, Alex much preferred its earlier version that allowed him to cultivate far better than this.
A few years in, Alex stopped using the beast cores, as he ended up using up a lot of Sunhearts in doing this, and he simply didn’t want to waste any more. He didn’t have an infinite amount of them, and returning to Hell wasn’t a possibility for him.
After all, just because he could navigate the Void didn’t mean he knew directions that well. All he could do inside was not get lost. That didn’t mean he could reach any meaningful destinations all on his own.
So, he chose to save up on Sunhearts.
Which also meant he was once again lacking resources.
’Do I really have to do it?’ Alex thought, since he saw no other choice.
He was still a few more years away from learning the Dao of Purging, so he had to do something else to gain more Qi right now. His third and final Blood Essence had also nearly regenerated, so he couldn’t stop now.
Alex took a deep breath as he realized that perhaps there was nothing else he could do but this.
Slowly, he closed his eyes, preparing himself for what he was about to do. After a brief moment, once he was certain he was ready for it, he did it.
The moment Alex made it happen, several people noticed what was happening immediately, the first of whom was Sunflare, as he was the closest to him.
The man held a puzzled look for a moment. As far as he was aware, Alex wasn’t old enough for this. And yet, since this was happening, he couldn’t believe that Alex had made the choice for this to happen.
Considering all the talk Alex had made about his lack of resources all this time, it made sense to him why he would go this route.
Similarly, several other figures in the palace also noticed this while recognizing the source of it.
The Sky God narrowed her eyes. "He’s desperate, huh?"
The Forest God grinned slightly. "That’s an interesting choice."
Bladedance held a complicated look. "Was it really necessary?" she asked softly as she stared at the sky, where dark clouds began to gather above Alex’s courtyard.
He had done something he should only have done when he was 10 thousand years old.
He called upon the Immortal Tribulation.
