Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy

Chapter 3909: Registration

Chapter 3909: Registration

There were five different types of tournaments to participate in.

The normal tournament, where most people participated, was one that had no restrictions except for cultivation base. One was free to fight however they wanted, with whatever they wanted, and many people liked that freedom.

This was the tournament that Long Huan participated in.

The second tournament was one where only Qi was allowed, with no weapons or artifacts permitted.

The third tournament was one where people were only allowed to use their Daos to fight. That was the tournament that suited Alex the best, but he didn’t choose it at all.

The fourth tournament was one where people could only fight with weapons, using no physical or Qi-based abilities. Since Alex needed to train his sword skills, he chose to participate in this tournament.

And finally, the fifth and last tournament was the one where people fought physically, using nothing but their bodies’ strength alone. Graham registered for that.

Once they were done registering, they were each sent to specific rooms to be further tested. According to Graham, this section of the registration was to decide which group the fighters were going to be placed in.

With enough registrations, they could afford to separate the fighters based on their specific levels of strength. The room Alex had to go to had an artifact that he had to use his Sword Intent on so they could figure out the strength his sword carried.

Once it was determined, he was given a registration number, which he could use later to check what group he would be placed in.

"Can you tell me how you decide what group someone goes into?" Alex asked the man who tested him.

"It’s simple. We tally up the registrations and their strength, and then we use that data to create groupings where we can hopefully place fighters within similar levels of strength. In cases where there aren’t enough fighters at that strength, we are forced to move them up or down, which might end up being unfair for that person, but for the most part, we hope it’s fair."

Alex nodded. "I see. Thank you."

Once he understood how the registration worked, he made his way to the hall where his father and Long Huan waited for him. Sunflare was nowhere to be seen, as he wasn’t allowed inside the hall without being a participant, but Alex could sense him keeping an eye on him nonetheless.

The same couldn’t be said of Blazelight, not because she had chosen to stop following him, but because she had chosen to do it directly. She was inside the hall, looking at him.

Alex could only imagine that she had registered as well. He could only wonder what she had chosen. Not that it likely mattered. She was only inside the hall to watch him, after all.

"Hey, if it isn’t the Sun God!"

Alex raised an eyebrow and turned toward the voice. When he did, he found Fang Xianhai walking up to him.

Fang Xianhai wore a bright blue robe, holding the same confident smile as he always did. "I did not expect to see you here."

"Neither did I, Brother Xianhai. It’s been a while, huh?"

"It hasn’t even been a decade since the Red Heaven Realm closed, so I wouldn’t say it’s been that long," the man said with a slight laugh. "Though I heard you left the place long before it ended."

Alex nodded. "I saw no reason to stay inside."

"Shame," the man said. "Hey, will I be fighting you then? I would love a rematch."

"Which tournament did you take part in?" Alex asked.

"Dao, obviously. You know that’s what I’m good at, so why even ask?" Fang Xianhai laughed for a second before stopping. "Wait, what did you participate in?"

"Weapons," Alex answered.

"Shit, really? Then we won’t get to fight," the young man said. "What a shame. I was looking forward to a rematch. Especially since your name lingers on the lips of every single person I know these days."

"Really?" Alex asked. "I haven’t really realized."

"Yeah. All the people in my family are curious to learn more about you and how you managed to defeat such a strong Divinity," Fang Xianhai said. "Some say you were working with the Luo family, but that’s not true at all, is it? We saw how seriously you fought against their Divinity."

Alex shrugged. "I’ll let them think whatever they want."

"So nonchalant. And here I thought I was like that," Fang Xianhai said.

Alex laughed slightly. "I worry about things. Those things just don’t happen to include what we are talking about."

"I see. I see," the man said. "One last thing. Why did you give up?"

"Give up?"

"Your stars. People think you got overconfident and ended up making a bet that you could not follow through on and ended up losing. But you didn’t, did you? You left of your own accord."

Alex nodded. "I won against a Divinity. I had nothing else to prove inside the Red Heaven Realm."

"What about the reward? The prestige that comes with winning it all?" Fang Xianhai asked. "The fame alone should’ve been worth it for you."

Alex smiled. "You said my name was on everyone’s lips just now. Do you think I require more fame?"

Fang Xianhai paused for a few seconds before nodding. "I suppose you do not."

He shook his head slightly. "Well, I’ll see you around, then. I would say good luck in the tournament, but I have a feeling I should be telling that to your opponents instead."

Alex chuckled. "Good luck, Brother Xianhai."

Fang Xianhai nodded and walked away.

Alex watched the man leave with a slight smile on his face. He supposed he would be seeing more than a few familiar faces around this place.

"Alex!" Graham called from nearby.

Alex turned. "Yes, Father?"

"Come over here. I want you to meet my friends," Graham said.

"Friends?" Alex paused in surprise. "I’m coming."
