Chapter 2703: My Friend, My Sidekick, Corey Bright The Reincarnator!

Time: Unspecified
Location: Myriad Realms, Card World, Southern Region, Blossom District, Sky Blossom City, TSR Guild Headquarters
"I took it far? All she had to do was make a simple promise. Yet she would rather scar her beautiful scales and endure the pain than make it. You know what, there..."
I didn’t apologize to Corey and Lil’ Baem. Instead, I had the blood plague rooted in Lil’ Baem’s scales disintegrate with a thought. The corruption unraveled, and her scales returned to their pure white color. Simultaneously, my fingers subtly dug into the surrounding space as I calmly warned Corey, "Now you are responsible for what happens next."
Seeing Lil’ Baem’s scales return to normal, Corey’s eyes squinted. She clearly wasn’t pleased that I would rather create a scene than apologize. However, her expression sharply shifted into shock when her pet snake slipped free from her embrace and shot at me without warning. Her realm was too low, before she could even ask Lil’ Baem to stop, the snake was already biting at my groin.
As soon as Lil’ Baem dashed at me, I dragged the space around myself, wrapping it over my body like a blanket by stretching it through my mastery of the space rule. Lil’ Baem, who had been closing in on my crotch with her mouth wide open, was caught in that stretched space as well.
She was pulled along the warped curvature, forced into a tight arc as the space folded with her in it and around me. Her own body completed a full circle, and her jaws snapped shut on her tail.
She immediately released her tail, letting out a sharp cry as she writhed in pain. However, she recovered just as quickly. I yelled, "You guys saw that, right? She’s the freaky one, not me. Tell me you all saw that."
"Hisss!"
Lil’ Baem hissed at me sharply before shooting forward at an incredible speed, fast enough to punch a hole through the warped space around me. Unfortunately for her, she didn’t reach me as she expected. Instead, she hurled herself straight into the void.
Before she could circle back, I hurriedly healed the space, erasing all residual energy traces. With no spatial anchor left behind, she wouldn’t be able to retrace her trail back to this point in space and would instead have to travel through the void and enter the card world.
She was a semi-ruler class creature, so I wasn’t worried about her ability to survive or cross the void. Besides, Corey could always summon her.
"Lil’ Baem!" Corey finally reacted. With her realm, it was already a miracle that she had been able to keep up at all. Seeing that Lil’ Baem had vanished while I stood there unscathed, she immediately contacted her pet with the link they shared and learning the truth she turned to me, demanding, "Wyatt, how could I exile my baby to the void?"
"Don’t worry. I gave her some much-needed time out. She’ll be back soon," I replied nonchalantly. Then I turned to Petra and asked, "Shall we get started with work?"
Petra looked at me with clear puzzlement and asked, "How come you weren’t this strong when we fought?"
"First, I was prepared to face Lil’ Baem. I wasn’t expecting you," I explained. "Second, if I had defeated you back then, you would have escaped using your abilities, and none of this would be possible."
While I spoke, Corey was already trying to summon Lil’ Baem. I subtly interfered, using my soul energy resonance to disrupt the summoning again and again. She caught on quickly. Her expression hardened as she declared, "Wyatt, you stuck-up asshole, you’d better start watching your back from now on."
Petra nodded, as if she understood my explanation. Then, once the meaning truly settled in, she looked at me sternly and asked, "You think you can overpower me?"
"Was there ever a doubt?" I asked arrogantly, staring Petra down. Then I quickly moved to salvage the situation. "We can never know. Let’s not waste time on this debate and get to work."
Still fuming over my interference with her summoning, Corey gave up and headed toward the center of the basement. She removed the central tile and opened the gutter drain before turning to leave, intending to summon Lil’ Baem back from the void at a location far from me so I couldn’t interfere. As she walked away, her gaze never left me.
Just as Petra was about to argue that, if we were to fight, she wouldn’t be the one retreating, Corey passed by and cut in with a sharp curse, "Jackass."
Honestly, Corey was among the few who would treat me this honestly even after I had given her ten percent of my new venture out of pity. Susan, Anna, and Jill didn’t count. They repaid me in other ways, if you know what I mean. Maybe someday they will repay me foursomefold.
"Just for that, you only get a one percent share in my holy grounds venture," I tested Corey.
She paused mid-step, then shot back grudgingly, "Keep your shares, you greedy jerk. And you aren’t going anywhere without helping me gain the trait you’ve been promising for so long. You don’t get to postpone it, not today. Finish your business here. I’ll be right back after summoning Lil’ Baem."
"Can’t it wait a little longer? This is pretty important," I said, subtly tilting my head toward Petra again and again, trying to signal that we should transport the rule ore veins while this one here was feeling urgent.
The supreme beings kept their word, but they were also easily distracted, forgetful, and mischievous. In other words, they weren’t without their flaws. It would be in our best interest to have Petra move the forty-five rule ore veins while she was still desperate. Who knew what she might do or react once Bloodette came out of her funk and rejected her proposal to move to Way Beyond with her.
"Nope. But you should know, I did think it could wait before you took away the ten percent of the shares you promised me in your holy grounds venture," Corey remarked with a sly grin.
I looked at her in disgust and said, "Are you blackmailing me right now?"
"You bet your jackass I am," Corey replied without denying it, looking entirely too pleased with herself.
