Chapter 2750: Domain Type Chivalry

"Fuck!" Coryn swore as she rapidly conjoined dense pockets of air beneath their feet and along their forearms. Controlled bursts of repulsive force propelled them in sharp, angular movements, weaving through the incoming falcon missiles and the dense lattice of bamboo stalks. At the same time, Reven extended their mental field outward, searching for the domain’s boundary, hoping to break through.
They narrowly evaded a cluster of diving falcons, only for several of them to detonate midair.
The explosions rippled through the forest in overlapping shockwaves. For a brief instant, the blasts surrounded them. Though caught off guard, the force was negligible compared to even their weakest Mortal Star. Their mental field absorbed the concussive waves with ease, leaving them untouched.
"Argh!" Coryn roared, fury overtaking restraint seeing Falcons continued slamming into their barrier, snapping their own necks or bursting apart on impact, clearly being used as disposable projectiles. The realization hardened her resolve. If the enemy was willing to sacrifice them so casually, then subtlety was pointless.
Ignoring the repeated collisions against their shield, Coryn began aggressively conjoining the surrounding air molecules to condense. This time, she was not forming a restrained strike. She condensed their strongest Mortal Star to a scale their mental field could still withstand. Anything beyond that threshold would risk collapsing their own defenses along with the domain. This was the upper limit they could safely deploy.
Without hesitation, they hurled the sugar-crystal-sized sphere straight upward with all their force. It streaked toward the canopy of bamboo and beyond, cutting through the fabricated sky of the domain. Their intention was simple.
If the Mortal Star collided with the domain’s boundary, the detonation might puncture a hole through it. If the structure proved unstable enough, the entire construct could fracture from the inside.
Now, all they had to see was whether this domain type chivalry had a ceiling — or...
*Boom!!!*
The Mortal Star collided with the upper boundary of the domain and detonated in a blinding flare. Fire surged outward, turning the fabricated sky into an inferno and setting vast stretches of bamboo ablaze. Stalk after stalk ignited, and within seconds the forest was swallowed in roaring flames.
With that the Screams followed. They did not come from the twins, but from somewhere within the burning forest. The enemies who had hidden inside the domain were caught in the blast, their cries cut through the crackling of fire and splitting bamboo. For a moment, it seemed as though the domain would collapse. But it didn’t.
Instead of fracturing, the upper boundary rippled like the surface of water. The shockwave and heat were drawn into it, absorbed rather than repelled. The explosion’s force diffused across the unseen ceiling and vanished into the structure itself, as though the domain had consumed the attack.
Before the twins could voice their disbelief, the ground beneath them trembled.
From the scorched earth, new bamboo shoots erupted at terrifying speed breaking through the smoke. The charred remains were replaced almost instantly, thicker and denser than before.
Stalks burst upward and curved toward the twins, weaving together in tight interlocking layers. In moments, the open space around them shrank as the forest packed itself densely, compressing the domain from within. The air grew tight and heavy as reinforced bamboo pressed from every direction.
They found themselves trapped, entangled between countless stalks that creaked and tightened with deliberate force. The air inside the domain grew thick with smoke and ash, it was barely breathable as the bamboo tightened around them.
"What’s going on?" Coryn demanded in shock. She tried to struggle free, relying on brute strength, but the bamboos barely bent. Instead of cracking like wood, it felt reinforced, resilient beyond what its appearance suggested.
Reven forced herself to stay calm, extending their mental field as far as the compression allowed. "Its this domain type chivalry’s ability," she said steadily. "It’s absorbing the energy from our attacks. Not just increasing in number, but increasing in structural strength as well."
Coryn paused, listening despite the pressure closing in.
"The first sign was when we started using conjoin to accelerate and evade the falcon missiles," Reven continued. "The bamboo density increased even before the explosions. Then when the falcons detonated near us, the surrounding stalks thickened further. After the Mortal Star, the regeneration was immediate and far stronger."
She concluded saying, "This domain feeds on released force. The more destructive the output, the more it grows."
The bamboo creaked again, tightening fraction by fraction, as if silently confirming her words.
At first, she hadn’t linked the signs together. It had been nothing more than a faint suspicion at the edge of her thoughts. But now the pattern was undeniable. The more force they released, the denser the bamboo became. It wasn’t just multiplying. It was reinforcing itself, each surge of energy feeding the domain’s growth.
Reven’s eyes narrowed as another possibility formed. If the forest was absorbing all released force within its bounds, then the hidden enemies might be suffering under the same constraints. Unless the caster had built in exemptions for allies.
"We may not be the only ones suffocating," she muttered. If that were true, then this would turn into a game of chicken. A silent stand off to see who among them, would break first under the pressure of the unbreakable air
"If they try to pull in fresh air from outside," Coryn said, understanding and following Reven’s logic, "we will benefit too."
"Exactly," Reven replied. "Unless they can manipulate air the way we can."
She weighed that possibility briefly and dismissed it. Given the structure of the chivalry so far, it was rooted in wood, growth, and absorption. Fine control over atmospheric flow did not align with its observed mechanics. The odds that the Martial artist could actively regulate external airflow were low.
Which meant this domain was not designed to protect its master indefinitely.
It was designed to trap everyone inside then why would they enter it with them? Unless there was more to their ability. Suddenly, she heard a rustle in the surrounding bamboo.
