Chapter 2798: Defense Impervious To All Damage

Date: Unspecified

Time: Unspecified

Location: Myriad Realms, Card World, Southern Region, Blossom District, Three Mischief Encampment

The Emissary of Light, who was still trying to understand how his ultimate combo with the Supreme Leader, which they believed to be inevitable, had suddenly failed them for the first time since they created and used it, didn’t even react as his surroundings changed, being thrown out of the double celestial rule domain and then dragged into the mystic dimension by the Field Marshal.

His shock showed just how much they trusted their ultimate combo. They had grown so fond of it that they even fought over who would name it, and as a result, they never named it to date. So when it failed them, they were left utterly devastated.

The impatient Field Marshal didn’t bother with proper conduct and attacked the seemingly defenceless man, shooting a concentrated beam of soul energy at him. However, the defenceless man was not so defenceless. When the concentrated beam of soul energy landed, it simply dissipated without leaving behind as much as a smudge. But she had finally caught his attention.

"So, this is the infamous defense impervious to all damage I have heard so much about," the Field Marshal remarked, realizing that her opponent was the Emissary of Light, not someone she could defeat by rushing or being impatient.

The Emissary of Light’s terror was even greater than that of the Supreme Leader. Even without seeing Clown Mask’s future vision, his existence had long alerted the Southern Region. Back then, he wasn’t even a demigod. Now that he was a demigod, his existence was a hundred times more dangerous than before. So she calmed herself down, trusting that her young lord wasn’t reckless and would handle things on his end without her assistance.

"I see the word has already reached the southern capital. I’m flattered," the Emissary of Light said with a gentle smile, no longer concerned about his failed ultimate combo with the Supreme Leader. He could get back to it after dealing with the pest before him.

Compared to the boy, he wasn’t as threatened by the Field Marshal. He knew better than to underestimate Field Marshal Lorn, the Southern Hero, but if given a choice, he would rather face the Field Marshal than that boy. He had fought the boy while borrowing the body of one of the demigods he had forcefully converted into his follower, and the word ’embarrassing’ didn’t begin to describe the result.

Even though it was an incarnation, it was almost as strong as his original form. And that boy had not only found a way to undo his divine enlightenment, but had almost killed his incarnation, forcing him to spend a considerable amount of faith to teleport them out of public view and withdraw. All while his followers were rooting for him and giving him a major boost with their blind faith. So, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that his incarnation might even be just as strong as his original body at that moment.

Still, the boy managed to force him into such an embarrassing state. No matter what he did, the boy was able to find a perfect counter to it. It was as if the boy could see through him, his actions, and every move he made.

When the Emissary of Light fought him, he felt like the boy was the bane of his existence. He wasn’t exaggerating, it was the fact. Therefore, he would choose to fight the Field Marshal over the boy every time.

"You’re flattered? Why isn’t it the rumor you spread about yourself?" the Field Marshal said impassively. Anyone who had even a hint of what the Emissary of Light’s origin card was capable of would know that everything people believed about him was a rumor he started and fanned until it became reality. He was a prime example of the saying, ’fake it till you make it.’

Seeing the smile on the Emissary of Light’s face narrow, the Field Marshal sneered as she added, "You know what my niece did after she heard that rumor?"

The Emissary of Light glanced at the Field Marshal indifferently, but the latter took his silence as a no and answered, "She had our agents in the empire sow the questions: who is stronger, the Card World’s will or the Emissary of Light? Is the Emissary of Light’s defense impervious to the World Will’s punishments? These questions were so blasphemous even to the demigod worshippers of the empire that they came to the obvious answers: Obviously, the Card World’s will is stronger than the Emissary of Light. Obviously, the World Will’s punishment can break through the Emissary of Light’s defense. You see, even though the people of the empire worship demigods, they don’t dare to blaspheme the Card World’s will."

"You guys were behind that disturbance," the Emissary of Light scoffed. "Congratulations—you achieved nothing."

He wasn’t surprised. He had long been aware that spies from the five regions had infiltrated the Empire. He had allowed it, deliberately so. From his perspective, controlled leakage was safer than uncertainty. If the five regions received no information at all, they would grow cautious and dig deeper. But if they were fed fragments—carefully curated, ultimately meaningless—they would believe they understood the situation well enough.

It was a simple calculation. In his eyes, their little operation wasn’t a threat—it was just another piece moving exactly where he expected it to.

"Are you sure about that?" the Field Marshal asked as she fired another concentrated beam of soul energy at the Emissary of Light. Just like last time, the latter didn’t even bother to react to it. However, when the attack landed, unlike last time, the concentrated beam of soul energy burned a hole in his chest, destroying his heart.

The Emissary of Light’s eyes immediately narrowed and his face turned hideous, not because he had a hole in his chest and his heart was destroyed, but because he realized his defense, impervious to all damage, was actually non-existent against celestial force.

The reason the Field Marshal’s second beam of soul energy was able to hurt the Emissary of Light was because it was enhanced using the celestial force she borrowed from the Card World having entered the one with the world state.
