Chapter 2826: Supernova

Date: Unspecified

Time: Unspecified

Location: Myriad Realms, Card World, Southern Region, Blossom District, Three Mischief Encampment, Limitless Celestial Blood Fate Rule Domain

"This will teach you to treat me like a specimen, Supernova!"

While we were all focused on the exchange between the devil and the Emissary, Corey moved unnoticed. She conjured two fist-sized suns and hurled them at the devil, adding a fast spin to the suns, angling their paths so they would collide the moment they entered his immediate vicinity.

The devil saw it coming, but he couldn’t react in time. Two suns of that size tearing through space while spinning at high speed distorted gravity, creating a brief but fatal drag in spacetime causing the surrounding time to lag. Before he could even finish his thought, they collided before him, birthing a small-scale supernova.

It wasn’t just the devil—none of us could react in time. It was as if time was being stretched and so were those of use in it. That was not good as we were standing close enough to the devil to be caught in the eye of the plasma storm, along with him and the Emissary of Light.

But the ends of the golden shawl draped over Corey’s shoulders lashed out like a living double headed snake. They reached for us, wrapping around me, the Field Marshal, and Karl, and dragged us into the void with Corey just before the supernova could swallow us whole.

’See? I told you I could handle this.’

’Did you see what I did there?’

’I used your trick in my attack, Wyatt!’

’Neither of you could react.’

’You see, the spin is the key.’

’Did you catch the look on his smug face?’

’How dare he treat me like a lab rat!’

The moment we entered the void, Corey’s voice burst into my mind in a rapid, breathless stream. For once, I didn’t find it irritating to hear her go on like that. She had earned it.

And more importantly, I was relieved—I hadn’t been forced to resort to the final contingency I was planning to lean back on at that moment.

I was also surprised to hear Corey say she had learned from me. That wasn’t something you’d expect from someone like her.

The trick she was referring to was when I used the weight of her sun within my endlessly stretching space to manipulate time—slowing it down enough to show her the sun up close and make her admit her defeat realizing the difference between our abilities. She had taken that idea and adapted it. By adding a rapid spin to the suns as she hurled them at the devil, she turned them into moving anchors in spacetime.

As they traveled, the spinning suns dragged spacetime along their path, pulling it in the direction of their rotation. Those caught nearby experienced subtle but decisive time discrepancies, depending on their position and movement—just enough to delay any reaction at the worst possible moment.

Honestly, I couldn’t believe Corey had come up with this on her own. Still, I felt both proud of her and wary of facing her again. I didn’t think I could withstand her supernova without relying on primordial energy. Which meant that if we ever fought again, I’d have to go all out just to stand a chance. This version of Corey wasn’t just stronger—she was a combat genius.

The more I noticed the changes in Corey, the more curious I became about the version of her from the past—the one whose memories and inheritance had shaped her into this. I found myself wanting to meet that version of her, to exchange ideas the way I once did with Park. Even as a remnant, Park had been a tremendous help to both of us, guiding us through the Dark Realm when we needed it most.

’You used the mass of the suns and their spin to create a lag in time. Who are you? What have you done with our dumb Corey?’

’Thank you. I’ll take that as a compliment.’

’So, how long do we stay in the void? How long will your miniature supernova last?’

’I don’t know. This is the first time I’ve used it—after I came up with it.’

’Wait, you used it for the first time and it actually worked?’

’All I had to do was visualize it and make it happen. Doesn’t everyone do it like that? I know Wyatt does it.’

The Field Marshal was thoroughly impressed by Corey’s miniature supernova, created from the collision of two rapidly spinning suns. She hadn’t expected Corey to be capable of something like that. Among the younger generation she knew, only Corey seemed capable of giving her young lord a run for his money. Even so, in her eyes, Corey still fell short of him in terms of talent and potential.

However, she was forced to revise that judgment almost immediately. The real shock came when she learned that Corey had pulled off such a complex move simply by visualizing it once—without any prior practice or trial and error. That was beyond absurd. Even with her starry eyes and unparalleled bloodline, she couldn’t achieve something like that so effortlessly.

Unable to hold back, she turned to her young lord, silently asking if Corey was truly telling the truth.

Sensing her gaze on me, I didn’t know what to say. I hadn’t known Corey was capable of that either. The only reason I could do something similar was because of the assistance from the Hive Spirit’s speedy simulations. Still, it was unexpected—and a little amusing—to see the Field Marshal humbled. She was a genius of her time, no doubt, but against Corey, she was just another genius.

Just as I was about to shrug in response to her unspoken question, we all felt it—a pull, sudden and undeniable, dragging us backward through the moments we had just lived. We tried to resist, realizing we were being pulled through time by an unseen force, but it was useless.

Before we knew it, we were back in the physical plane, within the divine dominion, once again facing the devil.
