Chapter 2891: Invulnerable
Date: Unspecified
Time: Unspecified
Location: Myriad Realms, Card World, Western Region, Berg District, Scarlet Berg, Guild Association Mall
"Sigh, I need to start saving for a good flying-type card," Aurelia remarked as she stepped into the mall’s central atrium.
"What are you talking about? You have the most merits in the entire agency. Even demigods are envious of you. You can spare a few and have Wyatt tailor a flying-type card for you," Jaya said, seeing Aurelia blame her loss on her lack of flight.
"Only someone dumb like you would waste hard-earned merits on something so temporary," Aurelia scoffed. Then, glancing around, she couldn’t help but curse at the state of the mall. "Damn, they really did a number on this place. Such a waste of property."
Soon, young gangster wannabes began peeking over the upper-floor balcony railings, crowding the rails as they stared down into the atrium below.
Jaya slowly gained altitude, glancing across the crowds lining the balcony rails until the roar of engines thundered through the mall. Casually sweeping the surroundings with her Viltronian senses, she discovered several dozen hoverbikes stationed on every floor.
Moments later, as Jonas and his gang entered the central atrium, the hoverbikes emerged from behind one by one, hovering above the crowd by balcony rails while revving their engines to the crowd’s cheers.
"What do we have here?" a deep, magnetic voice reverberated through the mall. Its source was hard to pin down, yet it instantly silenced the crowd and cut off the roaring engines. "The leader of the Bright Lions, Aurelia Malvin, and her deputy leader, Jaya Keith. Friends from the South, what brings you to our humble city?"
"You’ve got quite the outfit out here. I like your style," Aurelia shouted, genuinely taken by the sight before her. She couldn’t stop looking around at the scene above and around her. She may have conquered the streets of the entire Southern Region, but this right here was what she had always dreamed of: true outlaws. Unfortunately, her organization was far too big to pull this kind of stunt anymore.
"Hahaha, thank you. Coming from you, I’ll take that as an achievement. It would’ve meant even more if you hadn’t shown up with a bunch of roaches—"
"Watch your mouth. They’re members of the Bright Lions Security Agency, and nobody, I mean nobody, disrespects the members of the Bright Lions Security Agency..."
Hearing themselves called roaches in front of their new leaders, Jonas and his gang clenched their jaws in humiliation. But hearing Jaya cut the voice off mid-sentence to defend them, they held their heads high. They would fight in this labyrinth to the death as proud Bright Lions
However, to their shock before Jaya could finish, a hoverbike crashed into her at full throttle and exploded. She didn’t even react despite seeing it coming with her enhanced senses, letting the hoverbike slam into her and explode against her body, showing off her Viltronian Invulnerability. She slowly hovered out of the smoke and calmly dusted off her costume. Then glancing at the shocked crowd, she shouted, "Is this the best you can do? Pathetic."
*Clap* *Clap* *Clap*
A series of slow, monotonous claps echoed through the mall as the crowd on the fifth floor split apart, making way for two young men. One had the build of an orc, broad and sturdy, while the other was short with the stature of a hobbit. The larger one followed obediently behind the shorter man like a bodyguard, while the short man continued clapping as he looked straight at Jaya hovering before the balcony railing, saying, "It’s good to see that the Bright Lions’ deputy lives up to her reputation. Sorry about that. My followers love me a little too much and sometimes act out of turn."
Jaya didn’t bother responding. She dashed straight at him. Seeing her approach, the bulky young man immediately stepped in front of the smaller one, shielding him.
Jaya only smirked. In an instant, she appeared before him and drove her fist effortlessly through his abdomen. Carrying his body on her arm, she shook it off like someone shaking off dirt from their hand, flinging the bleeding figure into the nearby crowd. She then reached for the smaller man’s hair.
However, at that very moment, an overwhelming intent sense came crashing down on her.
Seeing the rampaging Jaya suddenly come to a halt under the crushing pressure of his demigod bodyguard’s intent, the young man let out a sigh of relief and burst out laughing arrogantly. But before he could spew whatever smug, hateful words were forming in his mouth, Jaya moved. She grabbed him by the hair and hurled him across the central atrium like a rag doll.
This level of pressure from intent sense meant nothing to her. Ever since discovering that her ego gem had mutated, granting her immunity to rule power instead of access to it like a normal ego gem, she had spent years exploring the absurdly resilient nature of both her body and her ego gem. In the end, she realized the principle behind it was terrifyingly simple: as long as something failed to kill her, she would only grow stronger.
Since that day, she had actively sought out demigods to temper her body against their intent pressure. By now, she could withstand the intent of an entire group of demigods with ease, let alone just one.
Seeing this, the crowd gasped in shock as they watched their leader slam into the fifth-floor wall and free-falling down toward the central atrium below while a massive shadow swallowed the ceiling lights above the mall. A hoverbike shot forward and caught his falling body midair. If not for his passive defense cards, the earlier impact alone would have killed him.
Meanwhile, the demigod bodyguard rushed to rescue his young master, only for his path to be blocked by a pair of SSS-rank Corpse Dragons. The creatures had appeared out of nowhere and now perched atop the mall’s roof as if it were their nest. As he scrutinized them, he noticed a cloaked figure standing calmly between the two dragons.
