Chapter 3031: Flawless Scope
Date: Unspecified
Time: Unspecified
Location: Myriad Realms, Dark Realm, Gelid Alps, Snow Elven Region, Frosell District, Frosnow City
"...Frost Rule Domain — The End!"
"Celestial Ice Rule Domain — Flawless Scope!"
The instant the Snow Goblin Empyrean released his Rule Domain, I responded in kind.
Dark aquamarine rule power erupted from the old goblin, colliding head-on with the radiant Celestial ice rule power surging from my body.
For a fleeting instant the domains clashed, fighting for dominance. The two domains appeared evenly matched. Their Rule power intertwined, grinding against one another as neither side seemed willing to yield.
Then, reality reminded me of the difference between us. Before I could even form an opinion on the clash, the old goblin’s Frost Rule Domain overwhelmed mine.
Crack!
Crack!
Crack!
My Celestial Ice Rule Domain: Flawless Scope fractured like a sheet of thin ice before shattering into countless crystalline fragments.
The collapsing domain was swallowed whole as the old goblin’s Rule Domain expanded without resistance, dragging me into its frozen world.
The outcome had been inevitable. The Snow Goblin Empyrean’s lifespan might have been short compared to other races. Yet he was still an Empyrean. A Ruler-class existence who had survived for several millennia. With his talent and accumulation, he had long since forged a Frost Rule Stream and spent countless years comprehending Rule Meaning after Rule Meaning, weaving each one into that stream until it had reached a level my current foundation simply couldn’t compare to.
By contrast, my Celestial Ice Rule Domain had only recently been born. It was built upon an Ice Rule Stream containing merely four Rule Meanings, empowered by my Celestial Force. Against an Empyrean who had refined his Frost Rule Stream over millennia, the result had been painfully obvious from the very beginning.
As the old goblin’s Rule Domain expanded, the world itself began to freeze. The city beneath us, the sky above us. Even space itself seemed to crystallize under the domain’s influence, layer upon layer of frost spreading endlessly as though existence itself was being locked in eternal winter which only kept growing.
There were only the two of us in the domain, the Snow Goblin Empyrean and me. None of the Crown Prince’s clones had been dragged into the domain. Neither had the Snow Elven Elder nor a single Snow Elf soldier.
Naturally.
Why would he allow the Snow Elves to witness the full extent of his greatest trump card? The Snow Goblin Empyrean and the Snow Elven Crown Prince might have been temporary allies, but they remained sworn rivals. Revealing the inner workings of his Rule Domain to the Crown Prince would be no different from handing him the blueprint of one of his strongest attacks.
From the very beginning, the old goblin had no intention of holding back. He had witnessed my prowess firsthand. He had known about me surviving the detonation of the Hundred Frost Domain. More importantly, he knew that even a peerless prodigy like the Snow Elven Crown Prince had repeatedly failed to deal with me.
If that wasn’t reason enough to treat me as a genuine threat. Any lingering trace of underestimation vanished the moment our Rule Domains collided. Although my Celestial Ice Rule Domain had ultimately been overwhelmed, it hadn’t collapsed instantly.
It had resisted. Even if only for a fleeting moment. That brief stalemate told the Snow Goblin Empyrean everything he needed to know. A Curse Master wielding a Rule Domain outside his field of expertise, reinforced by his own Celestial Force, had managed to momentarily contend with an Empyrean’s Frost Rule Domain. That alone was nothing short of monstrous.
"Old Goblin... do you know Konjur?" I asked.
I was curious whether I could repeat the same trick Peyote had used against Maestro and avoid an unnecessary fight. Granted, the odds were practically nonexistent. The Snow Goblin Empyrean was a Devil Merchant, whereas Konjur, despite being a Snow Goblin himself, had joined the First Order Cult.
In the eyes of the Devil merchant code faction, he was a traitor. That was to say for the Dark Realm he was a traitor.
"Why bring up that traitor?" the old goblin growled, his brows knitting together. "Don’t tell me you’re friends with that sellout."
The contempt in his voice was unmistakable. As the Empyrean of the Snow Goblin race, he naturally couldn’t remember every member of his people.
Konjur, however, was impossible to forget. Not because of talent. But because of disgrace. To the old goblin, Konjur had abandoned his own race to climb the ranks of one of the Dark Realm’s Ruler-class cults, bringing shame upon every Snow Goblin in the process.
He considered Konjur an indelible stain on the race’s honor. Had circumstances been different, the old goblin would’ve hunted him down personally. In fact, killing Konjur had long been on his bucket list. The only reason he hadn’t acted was because finding and nurturing a worthy successor for the Snow Goblins took precedence over settling old scores.
"No particular reason," I replied with a shrug. "I recently heard that one of the surviving members of the Ten Commandments, Peyote the False Witness, captured Konjur to demand compensation from his master, Maestro, for massacring Peyote’s entire tribe simply because he refused to become his disciple."
I paused for a moment before adding, "If you’re open to negotiation, I can buy Konjur and hand him over to you."
It was a long shot. Still, if the offer spared me from fighting a Snow Goblin Empyrean, it was well worth trying.
"Hahaha!" The old goblin burst into hearty laughter, slapping his thigh hard enough to send ripples through the frozen domain. "Another piece of good news! Kid, you just keep giving and giving!"
His eyes gleamed as he looked me up and down, before proposing something so absurd that it caught me completely off guard, "You know what? I like you. How about this? Give up the Froslings, marry into my clan, and sire a few hundred children."
He stroked his chin thoughtfully before nodding to himself.
"With your talent and our bloodline, those brats would be monsters. Don’t worry. I’ll personally pick the most beautiful and fertile Snow Goblin women in the clan for you."
"Well? What do you say?"
