Three large black-and-gold transport trucks rounded the final bend in the mountain road, kicking up plumes of dust and mud behind them. Leading the convoy was a sleek, dark SUV that looked completely out of place in the rugged mountain terrain.

Yu Qi narrowed her eyes as she watched the vehicles approaching from a distance. Long Hui glanced at Yu Qi. Yu Qi gave a small, almost imperceptible nod.

Long Hui immediately understood the meaning behind that subtle gesture.

"Hmmm... our guest is finally arriving." Yu Qi mumbled quietly under her breath.

The medical team continued their work, but tbut the atmosphere in the hall suddenly felt heavy and tense. The villagers fell silent, their eyes turning toward the window as the black SUV screeched to a halt right in front of the communal hall, blocking the main path.

The SUV and the trucks came to a complete stop. Everyone quickly forced smiles onto their faces. The door of the black SUV swung open with a sharp sound.

A man stepped out of the SUV. He was wearing an expensive black suit and a pair of dark sunglasses. He was putting on an arrogant expression as he looked at the villagers with the gaze of a predator.

He marched straight toward the communal hall, followed by two burly men who looked more like street brawlers than logistics assistants.

When he entered the hall, he was immediately surprised to see several unfamiliar faces that clearly did not belong to the villagers. His brows instantly furrowed into a deep frown.

"Where is Su Longuo?" Manager Kang asked sharply.

Su Longuo quickly stepped forward. "I am here, Manager Kang."

"Why is this place crawling with outsiders? I told you, harvest day is for business, not a circus." Manager Kang stated.

Su Longuo immediately apologised, his posture hunched and submissive.

"Manager Kang, I am sorry, but these... these are doctors. A medical team from the city. They are here to give us a free medical check-up." Su Longuo explained nervously.

"You should not accept them. You know that it is the harvest day." Manager Kang scolded Su Longuo harshly.

The villagers who had been smiling earlier were no longer smiling now. Anger simmered in their hearts toward Manager Kang, but none of them dared to say anything. After all, Manager Kang was the middleman responsible for selling all of their kiwis.

Manager Kang stepped into the communal hall. He looked at the rows of medical equipment with blatant disgust.

"I don’t care if they’re the Emperor’s personal physicians. They’re in the way of my crates. Pack this junk up and move it to the dirt if you have to." Manager Kang demanded.

Seeing this man’s rude behaviour, the members of the medical team also felt their anger boiling up inside their chests.

"Excuse me, sir. We have a permit from the provincial health bureau to be here. We are in the middle of treating patients." Doctor Duan Jiang stood up, frowning deeply.

Manager Kang simply treated Doctor Duan Jiang like air and did not even bother to look at him or anyone else.

"Move the tables." Manager Kang gestured impatiently to one of his men.

Before the thug could reach the nearest medical station, a tall figure suddenly appeared and blocked his path. He stood there with a cold and indifferent expression, his stance as steady and unmoving as an immovable mountain.

​"The doctor said they are in the middle of treating patients. Perhaps your ears are blocked by the mountain air?" Long Hui said, his voice low and dangerously smooth.

The thug hesitated and did not dare step forward. He could clearly sense the sudden change in the pressure inside the room.

Manager Kang finally took off his sunglasses and carefully looked at Long Hui.

And who are you? A local tough guy?" Manager Kang snorted disdainfully.

"I’m the help." Long Hui replied.

Yu Qi stepped forward at that moment. Seeing the white coat she was wearing, Manager Kang immediately assumed that she was one of the doctors. However, when he looked more closely at Yu Qi’s face, he was visibly surprised. This woman was far too beautiful.

Long Hui could clearly sense that Manager Kang was mentally stripping Yu Qi with his eyes. His expression instantly darkened as anger rose within him.

Yu Qi raised her hand slightly, silently stopping Long Hui. Long Hui took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down.

​"Manager Kang, I presume?" she asked, her voice cool and melodic. "I am Doctor Yu Qi. I am currently overseeing a delicate procedure for a woman with high blood pressure. If you cause a disturbance that leads to a medical emergency, I will ensure the liability falls squarely on Golden Harvest Exports."

"Hmm... You know us? Then, you should also know that we are not scared." Manager Kang replied arrogantly.

He then turned to Su Longguo. "Su Longuo, get these people out of here in ten minutes, or I’m docking 20% from the harvest pay for ’delay of operations.’"

Su Longuo’s face immediately became much paler when he heard that. The villagers also became furious upon hearing those words. The price was already very low. If another twenty per cent was deducted, how much money would they even receive in the end?

"Twenty per cent? That’s quite a steep ’fee’ on top of the already fraudulent interest rates you have been charging this village." Yu Qi looked directly into Manager Kang’s eyes.

The room went deathly silent. Manager Kang’s smug smirk vanished instantly.

"You heard me." Yu Qi said, her smile sharpening.

"You..." Manager Kang glared fiercely at Yu Qi.
