Chapter 2646: Someone Is Here

Chapter 2646: Chapter 2646: Someone Is Here

Sang Yuling could not understand a single word spilling from Master Chunwei’s mouth at that moment. The language was ancient, guttural, and strange, filled with harsh, unfamiliar syllables that grated against her ears. However, her heart skipped a beat, and her blood ran cold when she suddenly heard her own daughter’s name being called out distinctly amidst the rhythmic chant.

Master Chunwei eventually finished his incantation, yet he kept his eyes tightly closed, as if he were still communing with an unseen force that lingered beyond mortal perception. The room fell into a heavy, suffocating silence that pressed down on Sang Yuling’s senses like a physical weight, making even the air feel thick and difficult to inhale.

Sang Yuling did not dare to speak up or even breathe too loudly. This had happened before, and she knew the stakes all too well. Master Chunwei had warned her sternly that she must never interrupt the process before he officially announced that it was over.

So, she remained rooted to her spot, not daring to move a single inch despite the growing unease tightening around her chest. Usually, this mystical process took only about ten to fifteen minutes, but this time, the wait felt unnervingly long, stretching out endlessly until every passing second felt like an entire minute dragging by.

Sang Yuling waited for an entire hour before Master Chunwei finally opened his eyes. A deep, troubled frown slowly formed, creasing across his weathered forehead as though something had gone terribly wrong.

"Someone else is here." Master Chunwei said sharply, his voice cutting through the thick silence like a blade. He then turned his piercing, hawk-like gaze toward Sang Yuling. "Did you tell anyone about this location? Did you lead someone here?"

"No!" Sang Yuling shook her head frantically, her eyes wide with alarm and disbelief. "I know your rules, Master Chunwei. I wouldn’t dare to do such a thing. I value my life far too much."

Seeing Sang Yuling’s genuine panic and the raw fear etched deeply into her features, Master Chunwei realised that she was telling the truth. She was just as surprised and shaken as he was.

"I will go and see exactly who this person is." Master Chunwei stated coldly, his voice completely devoid of emotion.

Master Chunwei walked out of the ritual room, and a curious yet deeply worried Sang Yuling followed closely behind him, almost stepping on his heels in her haste. Although Master Chunwei wanted to identify the intruder immediately, he did not simply throw open the door. Instead, he moved cautiously to the side and peeked outside through a small, inconspicuous window, his movements controlled and deliberate.

Suddenly, his expression shifted dramatically into one of pure shock, and his eyes flickered with a strange, unrecognisable emotion that he rarely displayed.

"Who is it, Master Chunwei? Who is out there?" Sang Yuling asked, her voice trembling uncontrollably with anxiety and fear.

"See for yourself." Master Chunwei stated, stepping aside to grant her a clear view.

Sang Yuling cautiously peeked outside through the same window. She gasped sharply, her heart nearly stopping in her chest when she saw Yu Qi standing right there, motionless outside the house like a silent spectre. She was also completely taken aback when she realised that Yu Qi’s eyes had met her own through the glass. For a brief, disorienting moment, Sang Yuling’s mind went completely blank with terror, unable to process what she was seeing.

Master Chunwei frowned deeply. He knew his windows were heavily tinted from the outside. They should have looked like nothing more than dark, reflective mirrors. There was no logical way that Yu Qi could see inside the house. However, his eyes had indeed met Yu Qi’s gaze, and the girl had even offered a small, knowing smile the very moment their gazes locked.

"How did she... how did she find us?" Sang Yuling whispered, her voice cracking under the pressure of her fear.

Master Chunwei did not answer her. His eyes remained fixed on Yu Qi, but the initial shock had already faded from his face, replaced by a deep, calculating wariness. He observed the girl carefully, as though trying to peel back every layer of her existence.

Master Chunwei spotted the faint white aura hovering in front of Yu Qi, and his thoughts immediately began to race. His gaze darkened slightly as a chilling realisation slowly dawned on him.

"Perhaps she was led here by something." Master Chunwei muttered under his breath, his voice almost too low for Sang Yuling to catch clearly.

If his suspicion was correct, then he truly had to wonder whether Yu Qi possessed the rare spiritual sight necessary to perceive those hidden things. Outside, Yu Qi slowly and deliberately raised her hand.

For a split second, Master Chunwei thought that Yu Qi was finally about to knock on the wooden door.

But that did not happen.

Instead, Yu Qi’s fingers hovered just inches away from the door’s surface, remaining suspended in the air as though she could already sense the heat and the presence of the two people hiding directly behind it.

With a soft, effortless push, the door creaked open on its own, as if the lock had simply ceased to exist.

Both Master Chunwei and Sang Yuling came face to face with Yu Qi. Sang Yuling staggered back in total shock, her heart pounding violently against her ribs as if it were about to burst free. She looked at Yu Qi, a wave of primal, instinctive fear washing over her entire being.

As for Master Chunwei, he did not flinch. He stood exactly where he was, his posture straight and unmoving like an ancient statue carved from stone. His sharp gaze remained locked on Yu Qi as she stepped gracefully across the threshold.
