After locking the door securely behind her to ensure she would not be disturbed, she sat down on the edge of her bed and centred her thoughts, taking a deep breath. She was finally ready to reach out and see her beloved Long Hui.

She immediately extended her consciousness to contact Shino, who was currently staying hidden right beside Long Hui at his remote location.

’Shino... Shino... Are you there?’ Yu Qi called out, her voice echoing through the strength of their unique mental bond.

’Master... Master...’ Shino’s happy, high-pitched voice resonated instantly through Yu Qi’s mind, vibrating with excitement.

’How are you doing over there?’ Yu Qi asked affectionately, her mental tone softening.

She looked around the dim room and saw Long Hui sleeping peacefully on the bed. She was currently perched on a table nearby. With a graceful movement, she jumped down lightly and padded toward the bed. After climbing up onto the mattress, she finally came face-to-face with the sleeping Long Hui.

She could see that even in rest, Long Hui seemed to be frowning slightly in his sleep. She moved closer to him, wanting to reach out and gently caress the tension from his forehead. However, just as she reached the front of his face, before she could even touch him, Long Hui suddenly opened his eyes and leaned forward to kiss her. She was completely startled by his sudden wakefulness.

"Qi Qi..." Long Hui called her name, his voice sounding incredibly sweet and thick with sleep.

"You... You... How did you know it was me?" Yu Qi spoke up, her voice filled with genuine shock.

"Qi Qi, I have told you many times. I can sense your very soul. No matter when you change your face or what form you take, I can still recognise my beloved Qi Qi. Not to mention, I knew deep down that you would find a way to visit me during this mission. I just did not know the exact time." Long Hui explained. Then he continued in a playful, teasing tone, "But I never thought you wanted to steal a kiss from me while I was sleeping."

"What? When did I ever want to kiss you while you were sleeping? I only saw you frowning in your sleep and simply wanted to caress your forehead. That’s all." Yu Qi argued, her cheeks warming.

"Oh... I see. In that case, can you caress my forehead now?" Long Hui asked, his expression turning sweet and hopeful.

Yu Qi knew in that moment that she had already lost this battle. She could never truly resist Long Hui’s "puppy eyes" when he looked at her like that. She moved toward his forehead and, using her small palm, gently rubbed the skin there. Because Yu Qi was so close to Long Hui’s face, he could not help himself and leaned in to kiss her once again.

"You..." Yu Qi wanted to scold Long Hui for his playfulness, but in the end, she gave up with a sigh. "Well, I suppose you can do whatever you want."

Long Hui laughed softly, the sound low and rich, when he saw Yu Qi giving up so helplessly to his whims. He kissed Yu Qi several times, did not care that she was in a ferret’s body at the moment.
