Chapter 2691: Chen Meili Made A Fuss In the Court
Yu Qi reassured the terrified woman that she did not need to worry excessively about Ji Gu Niang’s immediate safety, offering a firm promise that the hospital’s elite staff would continue monitoring her daughter with the utmost care and constant attention throughout the long night ahead.
In the end, Sang Yuling listened to Yu Qi’s advice with a broken, hollowed-out sense of obedient submission. She returned to her home like a ghost, taking a long and steaming shower in an attempt to wash away the suffocating, metallic scent of the sterile hospital environment. Finally, she managed to drift into a shallow, fitful sleep for roughly four hours before her overwhelming maternal instincts surged, driving her to bolt upright and rush back to the hospital once again.
...
Later that day, Ming Xuehai arrived to report the latest grim updates regarding the ongoing, messy lawsuits involving the disgraced members of the Chen Family. As everyone had already anticipated, Chen Meili had turned into a complete and utter disaster the moment she stepped inside the courtroom.
She cried excessively throughout the entire session, her shrill wails and loud, jagged sobs echoing off the high courtroom walls. The judicial proceedings had to be interrupted no fewer than four separate times because Chen Meili was utterly incapable of regaining her composure, continuously disrupting the solemnity of the court with her emotional, self-pitying outbursts.
In the end, even the judge’s legendary patience had finally snapped. With an ugly, twisted expression of irritation, he ordered the bailiffs to forcibly escort Chen Meili into a separate holding room so that the trial could finally proceed without the distraction of her presence.
As for the remaining, more complicated lawsuits, the ones involving serious financial crimes, the official trial dates had already been formally locked onto the court’s busy calendar.
Yu Qi honestly could not bring herself to care about the dramatic, pathetic spectacle surrounding Chen Meili’s court appearance because, in her eyes, it was nothing more than meaningless, low-level drama designed for attention.
However, the other lawsuits involving the company’s internal affairs were an entirely different matter. Yu Qi was fully and ruthlessly determined to recover every single cent that had been siphoned away by the Chen Family, especially the staggering amount embezzled by Chen Song.
As for Chen Bo, his crimes extended far into the dark territory beyond simple white-collar embezzlement. Not only had he stolen vast company funds to maintain his extravagant and hollow lifestyle, but he had also systematically sexually harassed several female employees within the company itself.
Yu Qi personally wanted to ensure he remained behind bars for a very long time. In her eyes, a disgusting and predatory man like him should never be allowed to roam freely in civilised society ever again.
"The judge was completely flustered and worn down by Chen Meili’s pathetic behaviour. In the end, he concluded that the court could no longer be held hostage by her hysterics, so the session simply proceeded without her." Ming Xuehai reported in his usual crisp, no-nonsense professional tone.
"I already knew it would devolve into a dramatic, public mess." Yu Qi chuckled lightly, though the sound was sharp and carried very little warmth. "Luckily, I have far more important things to do with my life than waste my time watching that creature cry and squirm inside a courtroom."
"I knew you would say something exactly like that." Ming Xuehai said, shaking his head helplessly. He packed the legal files neatly into his briefcase before preparing to depart. "I am done here for today. I will take my leave now."
"Hmm... Thank you for your hard work, Xuehai." Yu Qi nodded lightly in acknowledgement.
Right after Ming Xuehai left, Yu Qi’s phone suddenly vibrated on the desk. She glanced at the screen and saw Lou Liwei’s name displayed across the caller ID. Without a moment’s hesitation, she answered.
"Master Lou." Yu Qi greeted him with polite respect.
"Miss Tang, we have arrived safely. We are currently at the airport terminal." Lou Liwei stated, his voice steady.
"Oh, yes. I have already arranged for a private car and someone to pick you up. She has been waiting there specifically for your arrival." Yu Qi explained.
Since she could not leave the hospital personally due to her duties, she had arranged for Lei Yingtai to welcome the Master on her behalf.
"Indeed... A young woman has already approached us. She introduced herself as Lei Yingtai. Is she one of your people?" Lou Liwei asked, seeking confirmation before letting his guard down.
"Yes, she is. She will take care of your needs and accommodation while you are here. Please, rest properly today. You have had a long journey. We will arrange for you to examine the girl and her condition tomorrow morning." Yu Qi stated calmly.
"I see. Thank you for the hospitality." Lou Liwei replied.
"There is no need to thank me, Master Lou. I am the one asking for your specialised help. Naturally, it is my responsibility to properly accommodate you while you are in the city." Yu Qi replied with graceful politeness.
After ending the call, Yu Qi sat in silence for a moment, hoping that Lou Liwei would truly be able to decipher the spiritual rot in Ji Gu Niang’s condition and somehow wake the girl up safely.
...
Too many things had been happening in quick succession recently, causing Yu Qi to temporarily push the MicroTech situation to the back of her mind.
After obtaining vital information from the operatives who had previously been captured, the government investigation team immediately headed toward the secret location the prisoners had provided. However, according to the team’s frantic report, the place had already been abandoned.
