Chapter 2854: Chapter 2854: A Human-Devouring Tree Monster
Receiving their leader’s command, the surrounding horde of evil cultivators surged forward at once, launching a barrage of vicious attacks from every direction without a second’s hesitation.
With the suppression array completely destroyed, Dian Chi Ne and Dian Wan Ye unsealed their full strength and threw themselves into the fray, finally able to fight back at their peak capacity without feeling weakened.
However, the sheer volume of enemies remained a daunting obstacle.
Even though they could deploy their full power, fending off dozens of aggressive, relentless foes simultaneously was taking a heavy toll on their stamina.
Meanwhile, watching the chaotic melee unfold, the dark-faced man sneered. He had zero intention of sticking around to fight an uphill battle. Seeing that the situation had spiralled completely out of his control, he slipped into the shadows, planning to make a quiet escape while everyone was distracted by the clash.
However, the second he tried to sneak toward the shattered doorway, a swift shadow blocked his path and delivered a heavy kick straight to his chest.
The dark-faced man stumbled back violently before crashing hard onto the floorboards.
"You—?!" The dark-faced man snapped his head up, glaring venomously at the person who had dared to stop him.
To his complete surprise, standing before him was a stern-looking elderly man. He could instantly sense the heavy, ancient spiritual aura radiating from the old man’s body. The formidable person standing beside him gave off an equally dangerous pressure.
Those two late arrivals were none other than Great-Grandpa Dian and his loyal bodyguard, Henry.
"So, here you are, you slippery rat." Great-Grandpa Dian said coldly, looking down at the dark-faced man like a piece of trash.
Hearing the familiar voice, Yu Qi, Long Hui, Dian Chi Ne, and Dian Wan Ye all turned their heads toward the entrance in surprise.
"Great-Grandpa!" They called out in unison.
"Focus on your targets! We will catch up later!" Great-Grandpa Dian barked out with commanding authority.
Without wasting another second, Great-Grandpa Dian and Henry plunged directly into the battle, their powerful strikes instantly turning the tide.
Not long after, Dian Sang Mu and Dian Cang Ye also burst through the entrance, diving straight into the skirmish to support the group.
With reinforcements joining the fight, the momentum shifted dramatically. The battle grew increasingly fierce as the two sides collided violently. One by one, the evil cultivators were cut down, their numbers dropping at a rapid rate.
However, extended combat was still taking a heavy physical toll on everyone’s energy. Even with their superior cultivation, no one could engage in high-intensity fighting endlessly without experiencing exhaustion.
Dian Wan Ye was no exception. By this point, she had practically drained her spiritual reserve and stamina. When another fatal strike suddenly lunged toward her vulnerable side, her legs gave out, leaving her without enough strength to dodge the blow.
Seeing no way out, she could only close her eyes tightly and brace herself for the impending impact. Yet, the painful blow she anticipated never landed.
Puzzled, Dian Wan Ye slowly opened her eyes to see what had happened.
Standing like a shield in front of her was a petite young girl. She was small, with adorable features that made her look even younger than her actual age. Despite her delicate stature, she had casually neutralised the incoming strike using several thick, writhing tree branches.
The branches moved with terrifying, fluid life, coiling tightly around the evil cultivator and locking him firmly in place. Before the villain could even attempt to break free, the vines yanked him violently back toward the little girl.
The evil cultivator’s expression transformed into pure, unadulterated terror. He thrashed desperately to escape, but the branches only tightened their suffocating grip, dragging him closer to the girl’s small frame.
The next second, a bloodcurdling scream shattered the air.
"AAAAGHHH! Stop! Stop it! Let me go! PLEASE!!!" The evil cultivator shrieked at the top of his lungs, frantically weeping and begging the little girl for mercy.
However, the petite girl paid no attention to his frantic pleas, her expression completely indifferent.
A short minute later, his agonising screams came to an abrupt halt.
The evil cultivator had completely vanished into thin air, leaving behind not a single trace of his existence.
The entire chaotic battle ground to a screeching halt for a brief, stunned moment as everyone stared at the empty space in sheer disbelief.
Even the remaining evil cultivators who had been mid-attack froze in their tracks, their wide eyes fixed on the small girl in absolute horror.
Then, a frantic scream broke the silence.
"That’s... that’s a human-devouring tree monster!" It was the dark-faced man who had shrieked in terror.
His face had turned deathly pale as he stared at the small girl, trembling uncontrollably. He had never imagined such a horrifying ancient creature could possibly appear in a place like this.
However, the little girl completely ignored his panicked shouting. Instead, she turned around gracefully to look down at Dian Wan Ye, who was still kneeling on the floor behind her.
The moment Dian Wan Ye got a clear look at the girl’s facial features, she froze in place, utterly stunned.
The small girl’s refined features bore a striking, uncanny resemblance to Yu Qi’s own face.
For a second, Dian Wan Ye genuinely wondered if her exhausted mind was playing a trick on her.
"Are you alright?" The small girl asked, her voice sweet as she looked down at her.
"Yeah... I am okay." Dian Wan Ye managed to reply with a quiet nod.
"Master instructed me to hand this recovery pill to you." The small girl said, pulling out a fragrant pill and extending her hand toward Dian Wan Ye.
