Vampire's Slice Of Life

Chapter 1206: Keith’s Strange Powers

Chapter 1206: Keith’s Strange Powers

In an underground labyrinth, a handsome silver-haired man in a black suit casually walked over the traps.

Two red-haired maids followed closely and were scanning each and everything with utmost caution.

A hole in the ground appeared before the silver-haired, purple-eyed man and he did what any sane person should’ve done—jumped over it, landing on a step that made a ’click’ sound.

"Oops." Lith commented softly.

The two redheads behind widened their eyes. "Master!"

They immediately dashed towards him to bring him to safety, but in what fantasy had a damsel ever saved the hero from distress?

Space and Time distorted around Lith as he vanished from his spot and reappeared ten feet away.

In the place he previously stepped, sharp arrows shot from the ground below while scorching flames erupted from the sides.

Keith and Fanny stopped a step before the hole in the ground and sighed in relief as they noticed Lith was safe.

Once the flames and arrows were gone, Lith’s soft chuckle resounded in their ears.

"You two are so on the edge. Relax a little. I won’t die so easily."

A second later, two maids appeared before him.

Fanny knitted her brows and said, "It’s our first time doing an escort mission, Your Highness. And also, it’s our first time actually acting as your maids."

Keith nodded from the side.

Lith smiled and shook his head. "Alright. Alright. No need to get so worked up. It’s been such a long time since we hung out, I was just trying to lighten the mood."

"Your Highness, will all due respect, we are at war." Fanny sighed and shook her head. "And there’s a lot that has happened, so I don’t think we should joke around."

Lith clicked his tongue and gently elbowed Keith beside him. "Your daughter’s gotten so sassy. How are you raising her?"

Keith, with a straight face, said, "You’ve not met her for so long. She is just sulking."

"Mom!" Fanny shot a glare at the mature redhead beauty beside Lith.

"Ah, so that’s what it was." Lith finally understood the reason why Fanny was so worked up.

Ever since the escort mission began, she didn’t let him fool around for even a second and constantly reminded him of their agenda. He did not get to slack either.

An hour ago, one time Lith ’accidentally’ tripped and was about to hug her, but Fanny held him by his shoulder and kept him at a distance and also from falling.

He did not get to hug her.

He understood now why she acted in that way then.

Lith felt somewhat guilty and scratched his face. "Fanny, I apologize for not seeing you often. And Keith, the same goes for you too. You both know why I was so busy, but then again, I could’ve squeezed out time for at least a cup of tea if I had tried, which I didn’t. It’s on me. I’m really sorry."

Sometimes, it was better to be honest and clear about one’s feelings than trying to gaslight the other person for their behavior.

Keith patted Lith’s shoulder while Fanny sighed.

"What do I even say to that? Let’s move on." She took the lead this time, not wanting to continue the awkward conversation anymore.

Honestly, there wasn’t a need for Lith to apologize. Fanny knew how busy he was, and she knew all too well that if he wasn’t so busy, he would get all flirty and handsy.

Lith looked at her rushing forward and smiled. He knew all was good between them, and he could now go back to being normal.

Escorted by the mother-daughter redhead duo, he passed through a narrow tunnel only to reach the edge of a camp.

The Evure God Clan soldiers could be seen standing guard to an entrance. For now there only seemed to be two, but within the tents nearby, Lith wasn’t sure how many more there could be.

Keith signalled Lith and Fanny to be quiet.

She closed her eyes. As the pin drop silence ensued, everything around Lith faded into darkness.

Feeling something was off, the Evure God Clan soldiers immediately took action by hitting a gong nearby.

Bright lights turned on, the space distorted, and from the tents emerged a few soldiers in their resting attires.

"Show yourself!" A soldier shouted and smacked a heavy chain on the ground.

Looking at Keith and Fanny’s expression, both were focused and concentrated on the men.

Keith signalled again, but this time to Fanny to make a move.

Fanny made hand seals and vanished like a phantom, reappearing moments later in front of a soldier and severing his head.

"Soldier down! Soldier down!"

"The enemy’s here!"

The group immediately rushed to form a close-knit circle as their comrade went down.

Fanny’s blurred figure was in front of them but they realized they couldn’t attack it, just see.

"A Time cultivator! Quick, cast the safety net!"

Fanny’s movements were intercepted in a second as the men shot a physical net above their small circle.

If Fanny touched them, the net would trap her, it didn’t matter if she did it four seconds in the past or four seconds in the future.

As of this moment, Time spells were useless.

Fanny returned to her place.

Keith closed her eyes and began casting another round of hand seals.

The next moment, horns grew on her head, and her charms grew by ten times. If Lith wasn’t used to beauties all around him all the time, he would’ve been infatuated and fallen for her seductive figure.

Though, the beautiful persona was irrelevant as in the next instant, her eyes grew dark and bright red sigils visibly danced around her.

The veil of darkness that was previously laid out wrapped itself on everyone.

Not even a second later, bodies fell to the ground one after another.

Keith’s figure returned to normal. She possessed a gentle demeanor once again, unlike the cold, devilish expression, and said, "All clear."

"Wow." Lith commented.

Whatever just happened was simply too fast and out of his league for him to process it.

One thing Lith could guess right now was that, ’Keith cast a barrier and made Fanny act as a distraction. Though, if Fanny could, she was allowed to take out everyone. She couldn’t because the enemy was well versed in Time spells. But Keith? She anticipated this and made the barrier collapse on everyone.’

This was what Lith could think of, but a much deeper mechanism was involved.

Keith was not a traditional elemental cultivator. She belonged to the Devil race now and drew powers from something even more primordial and external.

Even if the Evure God Clan knew the elements well and was prepared, something like Keith’s powers were totally out of the norm. It was not easy to evade.

Things are too unfair sometimes, and nobody knew it better than the Evure God Clan which was the number one power in Shen Ze.

Not to mention, all of their members had an all-elemental affinity which was sought after by everyone.

Lith, Keith, and Fanny moved past the camp and reached an end.

There was a large metallic door with ancient engravings on it.

Touching the door, Lith felt a subtle connection to it.

"Well ladies, looks like I’m on my own from here onwards."

Keith and Fanny’s expressions dropped.

"On your own?" Fanny asked. "It’s so dangerous here, even I couldn’t take out that small group of soldiers."

Keith nodded. It indeed was dangerous. Even being a Legendary Rank did not help as there were far too many Legendary Ranks and artifacts to counter them.

Lith gave the two a hug. "It’s a bloodline call from here on out. Don’t worry, I won’t die so easily and I’ve got the means to escape if push comes to serve."

Nothing more could be said.

The two ladies were on an escort mission and it turns out their role was only till here.

Along the way, they had deterred many soldiers and even ensured no one could contact the headquarters to send reinforcements here.

The place they were currently in was a secret passage that led to the Evure God Clan’s prison.

This place was one of the most secure places in all of Shen Ze, and also very tightly guarded.

However, Lith devised a strategy to infiltrate it with Roy’s help.

One thing both the Asura God Clan and Evure God Clan had in common was their love for their bloodline.

If anyone who did not possess the Evure God Clan’s bloodline and also weren’t a Vampire, they would be immediately caught and executed on the spot.

Fulfilling both conditions meant avoiding surveillance from the spells, but of course, it did not mean Lith would leave unscathed if he encountered some guard.

Death of any guard would put the entire prison on high alert and the headquarters would be notified immediately.

All guards also had to report themselves periodically and if even a single one failed to answer the call, once again, the HQ would be notified and the prison would be on high alert.

Beyond this door was most probably that secret passage that took one to the Evure God Clan’s prison.

Lith took a deep breath and broke the hug.

"Master, be careful. Be very careful." Fanny looked into his eyes and said with a sad expression.

Keith’s gaze conveyed similar feelings. She just wasn’t the one with words.

Lith kissed the two redhead beauties and reassured them once again.

If they had a choice, the two wouldn’t leave him alone but what could they do?

They sighed and bid him farewell.

Lith channeled his bloodline powers and the door instantly sucked him in.

Silence befell the surroundings.

Fanny turned to Keith and said, "Mom, we should join the war now."

Keith nodded. "That’s the only thing we can do to help him, if not directly."

The mother-daughter redhead duo disappeared from the underground labyrinth after their small talk.

Everything fell silent once again.
