Chapter 1211: Prison (5)

Transcending only took a second.

Lith and Meng Yuexin were now standing in darkness, a few hundred meters away from the Laughing Pyre.

Lith could see the faint outline of the bonfire’s light from where he stood.

Being a Vampire, his night vision was strong and he could see Meng Yuexin’s figure properly.

She was a good looking young lady, but the worry on her face might result in wrinkles in the long run.

Lith grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards the bonfire.

Meng Yuexin was hesitant. There was some resistance in her steps.

Lith didn’t push her too much but also did not give her the time to change her mind.

"A-are you really going to—"

"Yes. Or do you want to sacrifice your brother instead?" Lith cut her off and asked non chalantly.

"N-no." Meng Yuexin kept her head lowered. She loved her brother just as much as he did to her, so there was no way she was letting him die.

Lith was not the one to play hero so he took her to the Laughing Pyre.

Reaching the vicinity of the bonfire, Lith could feel control slipping away from him.

He gestured for Meng Yuexin to stay here and danced his way towards the bonfire where the Laughing Pyre was burning.

"Ho. Ho. Ho. Fast you are. Rewarded you shall be!" The burnt man laughed and sang cheerfully.

Lith glanced at him calmly and said while singing, "Glory be upon the one giving the rewards. Glory be upon the one about to give the rewards."

His message was clear. I brought the girl, now give me the keys.

The entity laughed and asked for the girl to be sacrificed first, to which Lith immediately refused.

Who is to say that this man would stick to his rules?

"Reward first. Or no deal." Lith was adamant and did not budge.

"One key. The deal. Then the remaining key. Ho. Ho." The Laughing Pyre did not continue bickering and gave Lith some leeway.

Lith agreed with it and in the next instance, he saw a dancing corpse beside him turn into a key and land in his palm.

The Laughing Pyre then cheered and sang, requesting Lith to give him the girl.

Lith shrugged while dancing like the corpse dancers. "The deal was to bring the girl. I did. Nothing was said in regards to giving her to you."

The Laughing Pyre’s immediately halted. His closed eyes opened, revealing blood red within.

"You dare trick me!?" It spoke fluently and with absolute hatred.

Lith danced and moved away from the bonfire.

The corpse dancers also danced and chased Lith.

"Ahhhhhhh! I’ll kill you! I’ll kill you!" The Laughing Pyre wriggled and writhed within the bonfire, hurling curses.

Lith felt a mild headache as he ran while disregarding the control effect appearing on him.

A few people from the bonfire stood up. They were burnt to crisp and looked absolutely horrifying, but they started running at full speed towards Lith.

"Fuck! Run!" Lith cursed and held Meng Yuexin’s hand, pulling her away.

"What in the world..." Meng Yuexin almost lost her mind when she saw what was happening. If she wasn’t a Legendary Rank with years of experience, she would’ve fainted on the spot.

Watching creepy looking, charred, and ablaze humanoid figures rush at you in absolute darkness was not the most pleasant experience.

"What did you do!? What did you do to rattle the snake!?" Meng Yuexin cried out.

"Just be quiet and keep running." Lith knitted his brows and said.

Honestly, he wasn’t sure what to do right now.

He tried to descend but felt interference. There was also an extreme sense of danger upon descending. It was as if there were a thousand blades on his neck, ready to chop him at any moment’s notice.

"Can you descend?" Lith asked the girl beside him, after thinking of a few possible solutions.

"I can but I feel danger." Meng Yuexin replied.

"Would you not be able to survive if you could run?" Lith asked.

Even in absolute peril, he was calmly asking questions to assess their situation. That was the quality of a man who had been through a lot of difficult times.

"It’s highly unlikely for me to survive. I haven’t felt my body in ages, so my martial arts are rusty." Meng Yuexin was honest and would not lie about her situation at this point of time.

Lith nodded and didn’t ask her further. "If neither of us can descend, then we can only face this calamity head on. Though, lucky for us that calamities are my specialty.

He stopped running and turned around, looking at the incoming ablaze dark figures.

Meng Yuexin’s hair stood on their ends and she trembled. It definitely looked like she would die here.

Honestly, if she was outside the prison, she wouldn’t be so helpless. But this fucking prison has so many suppression arrays that she was reduced to a mere mortal’s prowess.

Meng Yuexin and Meng Haoran, part of the reason they fell into this prison was trusting the wrong people.

By some major stroke of luck, they were able to retain their consciousness and did not lose their way. But eventually, their luck ran out and they met Lith.

This man who was surnamed Evure sounded so confident and smug when he made those promises, but right now? It looked like he himself won’t be able to get out, let alone taking someone else outside with him.

If Lith hadn’t tricked the Laughing Pyre and quietly sacrificed her, he would’ve gotten both the keys and then could’ve taken her little brother away. But no, he just had to be greedy and scheming, ruining what little chance of survival they had.

Meng Yuexin almost had tears in her eyes.

As she was a human, Lith could faintly feel her emotions.

"Ouch!"

He slapped her head and said, "If you’re about to cry then do it when you’re captured. Put up some fight and not chicken out, will you?"

"Hmph!" Meng Yuexin hatefully harrumphed and prepared herself to fight.

She had no weapons. Could not feel the elemental energies. Could not feel her spiritual powers. And absolutely could not stand the high heat even if she knew martial arts.

How was she supposed to fight? Only God could answer that.

Still, she took a defensive stance and took cover behind Lith.

This guy was the reason for her entire downfall. Giving her cover was the least he could do now, couldn’t he?

Meng Yuexin felt it was only right.

Lith did not bother with this girl. He had a difficult time understanding how she could become a Legendary Rank despite being so childish, but then he remembered that even his aunt Lucifer had ascended to this realm, so...

In the distance, a loud explosion could be seen, following which there was a loud shrieking noise.

Lith hurried towards the source to check on the Laughing Pyre.

As he reached, he found the lightning continuing to strike at the bonfire and slowly dissipating as one of the burning men started losing his consciousness.

"W-w-who... are you..." The Laughing Pyre asked while miserably losing himself.

He couldn’t act cheerfully anymore and due to the array suppression, he was losing control over his body and consciousness.

Up until now, his body had been burnt by the fire, but due to finding a hole in the formation, he was able to preserve himself by singing and cheering.

Right now, the lighting strike led to a heavy blow and he was in no condition to act all cheery or sing.

He had never seen such a strange lightning before. It did not feel normal and definitely had no traces of elements on it.

What the fuck was it?

Honestly, even Lith was surprised at how effective it was.

The only reason he did not use the calamity powers was because he didn’t want anyone finding out his trump card.

If he could travel through a place without using his secret moves, then why wouldn’t he?

Trump cards were called trump cards for a reason. They weren’t supposed to be revealed at every given moment.

"Well, I don’t wanna sound cocky but you can’t compete with me. Also, since you’re dying anyway, would you mind giving me the key to the last layer?" Lith requested politely.

The Laughing Pyre’s eyes turned bloodshot and before he could hail further curses, his eyes rolled back and his life almost slipped away.

Away from Lith and the Laughing Pyre, there was someone standing with their jaws dropped.

If it was a cartoon, the jaw would’ve been on the floor with how widely open it was.
