Chapter 2236: See You Tomorrow

Chapter 2236: See You TomorrowEditor: Henyee Translations

Consort Fu appeared to be a prudent and cautious person, so there was no need to pay too much attention to her. However, Qiao Xuan could not be negligent, as Consort Fu’s father and husband held grudges.

That Consort Su, on the other hand, was quite a character!

Qiao Xuan thought it must be her powerful and influential family that allowed her to survive in the Queen’s Mansion, and the Third Prince likely relied on her family’s support.

Otherwise, with her behavior, she would have long been played to death.

If she didn’t die now, once her family lost their power in the future, she would certainly meet a grim fate. Her outcome was practically already destined.

However, if she wanted to behave atrociously, she would have to return to the Third Prince’s harem. Trying to lord over Huaixi province was a mistake.

The next morning, after breakfast, Qiao Xuan asked Lixia and Caiyue to go to the inn to meet the concubines of the Third Prince.

Since they were already there, it was impossible for her not to see them.

Meeting them earlier meant she could send them away sooner!

Qiao Xuan requested an audience, and Consort Su sneered. She intended to give Qiao Xuan the cold shoulder, but seeing Consort Fu’s discomfort at potential trouble, she relented. Consort Fu reminded her to let Madam Shao enter first to gauge her character, as they were here to build rapport and persuade her to surrender.

Consort Su, after a moment’s thought, agreed with Consort Fu’s reasoning and nodded, instructing someone to invite Qiao Xuan in.

Qiao Xuan entered with Lixia and two maids, while the others waited outside.

Their first meeting did not foster a good impression between them.

It was evident that Consort Su was already irritated by Qiao Xuan. Regardless of Qiao Xuan’s appearance, Consort Su harbored a dislike for her.

Qiao Xuan, likewise, held no fondness for Consort Su, who had already exhibited peculiar behavior even before their meeting.

"Greetings, Your Majesty!" Qiao Xuan greeted, bowing respectfully.

Before Consort Su could respond, Consort Fu interjected with a smile, "Madam Shao, no need for formalities. Please, take a seat. You are truly youthful and dignified, with an extraordinary temperament!"

Consort Su refrained from snorting aloud but silently rolled her eyes, muttering, "Your words ring hollow."

Qiao Xuan, however, seemed to appreciate the compliment. She chuckled lightly and replied, "You flatter me too much, Your Majesty! It is you who possesses innate beauty and elegance!"

Their exchange of pleasantries grated on Consort Su’s ears, making the atmosphere increasingly tense and awkward.

She understood every word, and her competitiveness heightened. She grew even more disdainful of Qiao Xuan, grinding her teeth in Consort Fu’s direction. "Just wait and see!"

"Heh!" Consort Su couldn’t resist sneering. She interrupted Qiao Xuan and Consort Fu with a cold question, "What kept you so busy yesterday? I thought you’d have time to come see me!"

Qiao Xuan smiled knowingly, sensing trouble. "I have plenty of tasks to attend to, unlike your leisurely schedule."

Despite Consort Su’s status as the emperor’s concubine, she remained just that—a concubine. No matter how favored by the Third Prince she might be, managing the harem wasn’t her concern.

"Isn’t that quite free?"

Consort Su wasn’t particularly clever, but she caught Qiao Xuan’s implication. Infuriated, she sneered, "I see. If you’re so occupied, why not delegate? I hear Lord Shao doesn’t even have a favorite concubine. How can you manage like that? Lord Shao holds high rank; it’s inappropriate!"
