Chapter 1644 - 1637: Dream Woke Up

Chapter 1644: Chapter 1637: Dream, Woke Up

Chu Yihan refused to leave. He wanted to go back to save Lady Shu, but before Su Yingxue could stop him, they were already surrounded.

Outside the carriage, the sound of thousands of soldiers charging roared fiercely. The sheer momentum alone carried an overwhelming force, making their small carriage tremble uncontrollably.

Su Yingxue lifted the curtain and widened her eyes at the scene outside.

Chu Chengye, clad in battle armor, rode ahead on a white horse. Behind him, a seemingly endless army surrounded them like an iron wall, leaving no chance for escape!

"Chu Yihan..."

Su Yingxue’s voice trembled.

"Are you afraid?" Chu Yihan clutched his wound, his voice calm.

He had long anticipated today’s outcome.

Su Yingxue couldn’t deny being afraid—thousands of soldiers besieging them, the cold glint of armor bearing down, and the looming sense of bloodshed carried an oppressive, murderous aura.

Such a battlefield where life was taken mercilessly might not be much different from this.

But there was something she feared even more—

She feared losing Chu Yihan.

Su Yingxue helped Chu Yihan up, gripping his arm tightly. "No matter what happens, I’ll face it together with you!"

A hint of amazement flashed in Chu Yihan’s eyes.

He hadn’t expected Su Yingxue to be so resolute.

He was already a dead-end chess piece.

But Su Yingxue was different!

Chu Chengye wanted to marry her; she still had a chance to survive.

"If you let me go and agree to return with Chu Chengye, you can still become his Crown Princess Consort, ascend as the empress one day, and hold unparalleled honor as the mother of the country." Chu Yihan’s voice was hoarse, his obsidian eyes calm.

Su Yingxue shook her head firmly. "I won’t! I absolutely won’t leave you!"

She already had no mother; she wanted to stay with Chu Yihan forever.

Su Yingxue jumped down from the carriage before him.

When Chu Chengye saw her step out, he thought she had changed her mind and his face lit up with joy. "Yingxue! You were forced by my imperial uncle, weren’t you? Come back with me; I’ll marry you!"

"He didn’t force me! It’s my will!"

The fierce wind tousled the strands of hair by Su Yingxue’s cheeks. She looked especially fragile in front of the thousands of soldiers, yet her voice rang clear for everybody to hear. "I love Chu Yihan. I want to be with him and will never leave him for even one step."

"You..."

Chu Chengye was first disappointed, then angry. "He will absolutely die here today! Are you going to die with him?"

"Do I look like I fear death?"

Su Yingxue drew the soft whip from her waist and cracked it, producing sharp snaps in the air.

"You..." Chu Chengye’s face twisted with rage.

"Su Yingxue."

A warm, powerful hand rested on her shoulder. "You still have a way out. You don’t need to die here with me."

Su Yingxue turned around. The man behind her had pale features and cold, indifferent eyes as he calmly, rationally told her not to follow him to death.

Su Yingxue’s chest tightened, and a sudden urge to punch him welled up inside her. "Chu Yihan, what do you think my way out is? My way out is you!"

In this world, only he could give her warmth.

"I’m tired of the coldness here, tired of everything unfamiliar. But you’re different... Even if I lose all my memories, even if everything is beyond what I know, I still remember deeply—I love you."

It was a feeling carved deeper than memory, etched into her very heart.

There was no need for special recollections to prove anything.

She simply loved him.

There was no other man in her eyes but him.

Chu Yihan’s lips trembled faintly. A wave of emotions surged through his heart, leaving him at a loss for words.

He knew he had no way out, but in the moment Su Yingxue stood resolutely by his side, his heart felt as if it had been dug out. Deep in its core, it had always been her!

"If you’re willing, even in death, I won’t let go of you."

Chu Yihan stretched out his hand and intertwined his fingers with hers.

Su Yingxue smiled. "It’s a promise—you’re not allowed to let go of me! If you do, you won’t find me again!"

"I won’t." Chu Yihan pressed a gentle kiss onto her forehead. "Even at the ends of the earth or under Biluo Cangqiong, I’ll stay by your side."

Fearless of life or death, no regrets in this lifetime.

Chu Chengye tried to convince Su Yingxue for a long time, but she grew impatient and lashed her whip, yanking him off his horse.

The army behind Chu Chengye charged at them with murderous intent, determined to kill Chu Yihan.

In Su Yingxue’s eyes, the air grew thick with blood mist. Her surroundings blurred amid the chaos of corpses and seas of blood. The choking scent of gore filled her nostrils as she fought fiercely until the very last moment.

"Pu!"

Chu Yihan collapsed into her arms, with the Qingfeng Sword laying silently in his palm.

Su Yingxue looked at his exhausted state. She wiped the blood from his lips and leaned down to kiss him. "Don’t be afraid; we’ll be together forever."

Chu Yihan had no strength left to fight anymore. As Su Yingxue kissed him, he saw a long blade aiming toward her and tried to push her away, but he couldn’t.

Su Yingxue watched as the man in her arms grew weaker and could no longer save him. All she could do was desperately grip his hand as blood splattered all over them and the world crumbled before their eyes—

"Su Yingxue!"

"Chu Yihan!"

Two voices called out at once, startling everyone in the room.

Su Yingxue turned and reached for the man’s hand, throwing herself into his arms with urgency. "Are you okay?"

"I’m fine," Chu Yihan reassured her, holding her tightly, his breathing labored as he tried to calm her.

"The emperor and empress are awake!"

Someone called out suddenly, and Su Yingxue and Chu Yihan felt a sharp pain in their heads, a wrenching agony that almost made them faint.

"Ah... it hurts!"

Su Yingxue clutched her head. Chu Yihan, drenched in cold sweat, also winced in pain.

"Aren’t you a doctor? Hurry and check them!"

Chu Yifeng’s cold, bloodthirsty voice cut through the room as he pushed Sister Rong Sheng toward Su Yingxue and Chu Yihan’s bedside.

Su Yingxue’s chaotic mind cleared slightly when she saw the familiar face. "Rong... Sister Rong Sheng?"

"You’ve woken up. Let me check your pulse."

Sister Rong Sheng, though her leg hurt from being pushed, maintained an unruffled expression and took Su Yingxue’s hand to feel her pulse.

"Your pulse is a little erratic, but your body isn’t harmed." Sister Rong Sheng let go of Su Yingxue’s hand and took Chu Yihan’s pulse next.

Her diagnosis was the same for him.

The two of them, apart from being weakened from days without food, had no major issues.

"What’s going on..."

Su Yingxue’s mind still lingered on her memories of the dream with Chu Yihan, unable to distinguish between dream and reality.

Chu Yihan, having undergone brain surgery, found it even harder to piece things together, but he instructed everyone to leave so he and Su Yingxue could rest together for a while.

As they lay side by side, holding hands tightly, the moment they closed their eyes, the events of the dream vividly reappeared in their minds. But they came to understand one truth—they had awoken from the dream.
