Chapter 257: New Experience Store’s Holographic Projection
The fourth floor was the office area and Chen Mo’s break area.
The office area was much more spacious this time. There were meeting rooms of various sizes, a kitchenette, and a break room. All the main creative staff also had their own VR gaming pod, where the others had upgraded drawing tablets and computers.
Chen Mo’s resting area was an area specially set aside, decorated similar to the second floor of the previous experience store. It was set as an area for Chen Mo to think in peace.
Chen Mo also said goodbye to living in the experience store, renting a two bedroom apartment nearby for the time being. But upon considering that he might be working with a tighter development schedule in the future, Chen Mo didn’t rule out that he might need to spend the night in the experience store.
In theory, the fourth floor would not be open for players. It was partially to keep their works as a secret, and partially to allow the staff a quiet work environment.
Of course, Chen Mo encouraged his staff to visit the other floors and interact with the players and gather some feedback.
—
Everybody was happy when they heard the announcement of a new experience store.
The new location of the experience store wasn’t a secret of anything and many of them were waiting for the new experience store to complete. The current location was still big enough to support everyone, albeit a bit tight, so everyone looked forward to a new location.
The players were excited about the new experience store too as there were less than twenty computers in the first floor of this experience store, meaning players frequently had to queue up.
The next will will consist of working on the PC and mobile versions of Minecraft as well as the preparations for the move.
The old experience store belonged to the competition officials. But because how well Chen Mo’s games have been selling, greatly surpassing their expectations, they allowed him to use the experience store free of charge.
There were also some procedures that needed to be done now that he was moving, but he didn’t need to worry about that as Lin Xiao would take over.
—
Fifth of September, the new experience store was officially in use.
As a lot of the equipment was brand new, they didn’t need to move many things over to the new office, it didn’t take long for them to pack their stuff to the new location.
Everyone was really satisfied with the new experience store. Other than having a bigger area to work in as well as all round upgrades, the experience store had a lot of minute details that represented the culture of Thunderbolt Entertainment, which was to everyone’s liking.
There was a huge three metre tall Arthas statue at the front door of the experience store. Thunderbolt Entertainment’s logo was plastered all over the glass on the outside of the experience, making the experience store look incredibly modern and stood out from its surroundings.
The hall in the first floor had various decor related to games Thunderbolt Entertainment developed, such as Arthas’ sword Frostmourne, Hellscream’s Great Axe, and Tyreal’s sword.
There were various artworks in the hallways, and everyone of them had a different style. Some were based on Warcraft, some Diablo, some Onmyoji, as well as Wuxia themes.
These were all artworks from the development process, and there was a piece of history behind each of these artworks. Looking through all these artworks told the growth of Thunderbolt Entertainment from the moment it was conceived.
In PC, mobile, and VR experience areas there were special exhibition areas for figurines in glass cabinets for the players to enjoy.
Some players game to show their support too as the new experience wasn’t all that far from the old one, being two stations apart.
Many players went straight for the VR experience area the moment they got to the experience store to try out Minecraft. As the previous experience store wasn’t equipped with VR equipment, it was a long time coming for the players who couldn’t afford VR gaming pods.
However, the players and staff were more interested in the holographic projection area in the second floor.
Many had even seen holographic projection technology, and were extremely interested in it.
Zou Zhuo went straight for the holographic projection area, exploring the equipment.
“Manager, how do you use this holographic projection stuff? It looks incredible!” said Zou Zhuo.
There was one large holographic projectors and two smaller pnes. The large one was in the middle of the area, while the smaller ones were on the side.
These projectors were about half a metre in height and had a square base.
The large projector was about three metres in length, or about nine square metres, about the same area as a small cubicle.
The smaller one had two metre sides, resulting in four metres squared, about the same area as a double bed.
These projectors hadn’t been turned on yet, so they looked like three silver boxes. If it weren’t for the borders on its topside, some might mistake it as a stage and stand on top of it.
Chen Mo laughed, “Do you wanna play a match of Warcraft?”
Zou Zhuo was shocked, happily surprised, “Will this thing display Warcraft?”
“Of course, why else would buy it?”
There were two smaller soundproof rooms at opposite sides of the room, each room had five high-specced computers. Chen Mo and fatty entered different rooms and launched Warcraft.
The other players gathered around the projector to watch.
Chen Mo and Zou Zhuo started a two person map. When the game started, the holographic projector turned on too.
The whole map showed up on the large projector in the middle. They should see that Chen MO spawned in the top left corner of the map and Zou Zhuo spawned in the bottom right of the map.
The two of them started building, training, and farming.
The holographic projector showed a lot of details, including buildings, heroes, or other units. Moreover, it wasn’t limited by the edge of displays, so everyone could see whatever was happening around the map at all times.
Theo other two projectors showed what was happening at Zou Zhuo and Chen Mo’s base, both projected showing half the map.
With this combination of projectors, everyone could clearly see what was happening around the map, creating an incredibly satisfying viewing expectations.
Especially micromanagement that was previously hard to comprehend was made easy on these holographic displays.
Moreover, compared to PC graphics, these holographic displays had a better 3D feeling, making the graphics look even better.
“Geez, the fatty’s spider is done for. Another one succumbing to Chen Mo’s balde!”
“And Chen Mo is secretly mining on the other side of the map, fatty hadn’t realised that yet! My goodness!”
“Looks like fatty is at a disadvantage again. Did I say again?”
Soon, more and more players gathered around and the holographic projector was surrounded by people.
