Chapter 1875: Chapter 1875: Such Amnesia
"Of course, it’s true. Come home with me, and you’ll understand." Chu Liyuan smiled and extended his hand to Jian Dan.
After hesitating for a moment, Jian Dan placed her hand into Chu Liyuan’s.
Chu Liyuan’s lips curved into a charming smile as he firmly clasped Jian Dan’s hand, as if he wanted to tether her by his side forever, never allowing her to leave again.
On the way back, Chu Liyuan had Chu Liyuan drive, while he and Jian Dan sat in the backseat, tightly holding Jian Dan’s hand. He watched her intently, as if fearing she would disappear again if he blinked.
Chu Liyuan was driving in front, continuously eating the couple’s "dog food." By the time they finally made it back to Li Garden, he was practically full to bursting.
At this point, Li Garden was already packed with people, almost the same as last time; virtually all of Jian Dan’s friends had rushed over.
Just as Jian Dan got out of the car, a crowd of people swarmed around her, enveloping her in hugs, nearly suffocating her with their enthusiasm.
"You are..." Jian Dan began.
Everyone’s eyes turned directly to Chu Liyuan. "Chu, is this..."
"It’s okay. I believe that Jian Jian won’t forget me. She remembered me last time, and she certainly can this time too!" Chu Liyuan smiled as he pulled Jian Dan out from the crowd, holding her hand and leading her into Li Garden.
Grandma and Grandpa were already waiting inside. The moment Granny saw Jian Dan, her eyes filled with tears, and she quickly walked over to embrace her. "Good child, as long as you’re okay, that’s all that matters!" she said, gently patting Jian Dan’s back.
"Little Jian, why do you always have to scare us old folks? We’re getting old and can’t handle such fright anymore. Promise Grandpa you won’t scare us like this again, alright?" Grandpa stepped forward; his tone was stern, but his face was full of kindness.
Jian Dan wasn’t sure what to say to the elderly couple, so she turned to Chu Liyuan for help.
Seeing this, Chu Liyuan stepped forward, wrapping an arm around Jian Dan’s waist and said, "Grandma and Grandpa, Jian Jian has amnesia again."
"What? This time she doesn’t even remember Grandma?" Mo Qingqin asked incredulously as she stepped forward.
Jian Dan shook her head blankly.
"How can this be? My poor child, why do you always have to suffer so much?" Mo Qingqin looked at Jian Dan with a pained expression.
"It’s alright. I believe Jian Jian will soon remember everything."
"I, um, need to use the restroom!" Jian Dan said slowly, looking at Chu Liyuan.
"It’s over there!" Chu Liyuan pointed toward the nearby restroom.
"Oh!"
After Jian Dan left, Grandma and Grandpa furrowed their brows simultaneously. "Chu, are you really sure about this? This time Dan Dan doesn’t remember anybody."
"I’ll help her remember, but even if she can’t, what does it matter? As long as she’s Jian Jian, isn’t that enough?" Chu Liyuan said softly.
It was then that the four kids finally came down from upstairs. "Is it really Mom who’s back?" Qian Lele asked quietly.
The four of them hadn’t gone out earlier because they were afraid it would be a false alarm. They couldn’t bear another disappointment.
In the restroom, upon hearing Chu Liyuan’s words, Jian Dan’s lips curled into a playful smile.
It seems like this amnesia tactic was the right choice. It’s much better than remembering all of Jian Dan’s affairs, especially since there are many private matters that aren’t meant to be known; it’s simply better to forget everything!
