Peasant Woman's Decreed Life as a Wife

Chapter 1786: 1783: Nuanbao’s Little Schemes

Chapter 1786: Chapter 1783: Nuanbao’s Little Schemes

Ye Muyu nodded, “I’ll go check on Nuanbao.”

She had been out all day, and although Nuanbao was very well-behaved and never cried, always being sensible, Ye Muyu inexplicably felt guilty, especially thinking about how after being away for an entire day, she didn’t immediately check on Nuanbao upon returning.

She arrived at the neighboring room.

Chun Xing saw her coming and stood up quickly, softly saying, “Lady, the Young Master hasn’t slept yet; he’s playing with a puzzle.”

Ye Muyu quickly walked over and asked, “Did Nuanbao cry today?”

Chun Xing shook her head, “No, the Young Master was very good. However, he did ask me a couple of times, both at noon and in the afternoon, when the lady would be back.”

“Nuanbao, Mother is back.” Ye Muyu gazed lovingly at the little soft bundle sitting in front of her, feeling guilty as well as affectionate.

Nuanbao set down the puzzle he was holding, stood up, and waddled over to Ye Muyu with his short little legs.

Ye Muyu extended her hands beside him to prevent him from really falling.

Nuanbao reached Ye Muyu, wrapped his arms around her neck, and planted a kiss: “Mother…”

The child’s voice was warmly adorable, and Ye Muyu’s heart nearly melted as she held the obedient treasure in her arms and whispered together.

Nuanbao revealed his cute milk teeth, smiling adorably.

Ye Muyu kept playing with Nuanbao until finally, Chu Heng had finished his tasks and, after freshening up, was ready to return to the room to sleep. When he didn’t see his wife returning, he came to find her and saw her playing happily with their son.

He suppressed the sour feeling in his heart, walked over without changing his expression, and asked, “Why aren’t you sleeping yet?”

Chu Heng sat on the carpet beside Ye Muyu, very close to her, and Ye Muyu’s whole body seemed to lean into his embrace.

Chu Heng reached out to take the puzzle from Ye Muyu’s hand to play with Nuanbao, clearly revealing that his question was directed at Nuanbao.

Nuanbao looked at his own daddy with grape-like big eyes, “Play… sleep…”

His finger pointed at the puzzle on the ground.

There was still a small spot left.

The puzzle on the ground depicted a map, not only of Great Chu but also of the Northern Barbarian Region.

Ye Muyu suspected that Chu Heng might have been fostering their son’s academic pursuits from a young age, hence providing Nuanbao with such intellectual things to use.

However, this method was quite good, allowing early memory development and being beneficial for enhancing Nuanbao’s knowledge.

“It’s time to sleep; anything unfinished can be done tomorrow morning, alright?” Chu Heng seemed to be consulting, yet his tone was somewhat firm.

Nuanbao hesitated for a moment, looked at him, silently took several map cards, and quickly fitted them in.

He yawned: “Sleep… sleep…”

Ye Muyu blinked; if she didn’t respond now, she’d be foolish.

Nuanbao had already mastered this puzzle long before; he just wanted to play with her, thus delaying the time.

“Nuanbao, you’re just too clever.” Ye Muyu couldn’t help but kiss his forehead several times.

Nuanbao giggled, looking very pleased.

Chun Xing nearby also seemed suddenly enlightened, “So the Young Master wasn’t saddened at all. No wonder he took an extra hour nap this afternoon, just waiting for the lady to come back in the evening to be with you.”

Ye Muyu was so warmed by her son at this moment; she held his tiny hand and gently squeezed it, “Nuanbao is so good; Mother will stay home with you every day from now on.”

Chu Heng: “…” He originally wanted to say this little rascal was sneaky, but the words wouldn’t come out.
