Chapter 1829: Chapter 1826: Quarrel
She ordered the servants attending nearby to leave, and personally poured a cup of tea for Her Highness the Elder Princess.
“Your Highness, when the Commandery Prince arrives later, don’t be too angry. Whatever the matter is, speak calmly. This issue has not been concluded, and you shouldn’t destroy your relationship over baseless suspicions,” the old nanny urged earnestly.
The Elder Princess’s almond-shaped eyes narrowed slightly, her cold and severe demeanor mixed with anger and endless disappointment. Even the nanny’s persuasion could not calm her mood, and she said somewhat unhappily, “Nanny, save your words until that unfilial son comes.”
The old nanny was instantly speechless, clearly realizing that Her Highness the Elder Princess was truly enraged. The Commandery Prince must clear his name before there could be a chance of reconciliation between the mother and son.
Before long.
The sound of arguing erupted.
“Bold! You insolent slaves, let go of me!” the Commandery Prince’s voice called out from the courtyard outside the door.
The old nanny’s face changed slightly, wanting to intervene, but upon seeing the Elder Princess’s stern expression, she dared not move.
“Audacious! When I summon you here, do I need permission now?” The Elder Princess strode to the hall entrance, narrowing her eyes at the ruckus outside, with the Commandery Prince frequently letting forth foul language, her face growing more sullen.
The Commandery Prince was brought inside almost forcibly.
Facing the Elder Princess, he dared not express anger, “Mother, what requires me to be summoned so urgently?”
“Your servants are too unruly, actually threatening me,” he added.
The Elder Princess raised her eyebrows, her authority evident even without anger, “I ordered them. Can it be that now, even meeting you requires arranging days in advance? Shall I send an invitation?”
The Commandery Prince’s face changed slightly, suppressing his anger with sarcasm, his voice rigid: “Mother, vent your dissatisfaction with me, but why let outsiders laugh at us?”
“Leave us.” The Elder Princess waved her hand.
Immediately, the entire hall was left with only the old nanny attending nearby.
The Commandery Prince relaxed only after everyone left, slumping without proper posture in the wheelchair, his eyes shadowed and bloodless, appearing somewhat desolate and dispirited.
“Say it, you drugged Xiao Yi, didn’t you?” The Elder Princess looked at him, her words stunning.
The Commandery Prince’s calm demeanor cracked for a moment, his expression abruptly changing: “Mother, what are you talking about? What drug?”
His composure shifted only for an instant, but the Elder Princess noticed it, disappointment flashing in her eyes: “I’m not here to pursue accountability today, just to inform you that I won’t let this matter rest. Regardless of why you suddenly drugged Xiao Yi, I have already made my decision.”
The Commandery Prince instinctively sought to argue, “Mother, this is slander. He is my son, how could I harm him?”
“I’ve decided to proceed with Xiao Yi’s treatment, and you must cooperate.” The Elder Princess’s attitude was resolute, looking at him without a trace of warmth, as if he were just a mere medicine.
The Commandery Prince, initially anxious, saw the coldness in the Elder Princess’s eyes, and a violent expression flickered over his face. Suddenly losing control of his emotions, he threw the nearby teacup with a bang, shattering it on the ground, the scalding tea splashing everywhere.
“How dare you use my life to save him? He’s merely a grandson, which I can easily give you more of. To think that for a child, you would demand my life!” The Commandery Prince roared, “Mother, you’re always so indifferent.”
