Lin Gantang arrived at the airport and received a video call from Ye Qiuqiu before boarding.

Ye Qiuqiu, dragging her suitcase, walked slowly through the alley, reporting her safety, “Tangtang, I’m home now.”

“You’re home? Must be tiring after the long drive, huh?”

“It’s okay.” Ye Qiuqiu saw her mother-in-law sitting in the alley chatting with neighbors while holding a child, and asked Lin Gantang, “Are you about to board?”

“Not yet,” said Lin Gantang.

“Want to talk to your goddaughter for a bit?”

Babble babble? Qianqian was growing cuter by the day, and Lin Gantang was quite keen to see her, so she smiled and agreed.

Ye Qiuqiu hurried forward, and Mrs. Chen, upon seeing Ye Qiuqiu, immediately smiled, “You’re back, and you didn’t even tell Mum in advance.”

After calling out to her mother, Ye Qiuqiu said to the child, “Baby, come give Mommy a hug.”

Upon seeing her mother, Qianqian pouted and burst into tears, reaching out for her mother’s embrace while crying.

However, Mrs. Chen, upon hearing the crying but not noticing the baby’s outstretched hand, held the child even tighter, gently patting her back and cooing, “Qianqian was being so good just now, you started crying when you saw your return.”

The moment her precious baby cried, Qiuqiu couldn’t care about the video call, hastily exchanged a few words with Lin Gantang, then turned off her phone to take her child.

Mrs. Chen’s dry, rough hands wiped away Qianqian’s tears, and the auntie sitting beside laughed, “Oh dear, the little girl missed her mother, look how she keeps reaching out for a hug.”

Only then did Mrs. Chen hand the child to Ye Qiuqiu.

Ye Qiuqiu consoled her daughter with a tender embrace, and Qianqian, lying in her mother’s arms, gradually stopped crying but continued to sob pitifully with a trembling little body.

Mrs. Chen helped bring her luggage in, “Hungry? I’ll go make you something to eat.”

“No need, Mum, I’m not hungry.” She saw the post-cry Qianqian smacking her little mouth and asked, “Has Qianqian eaten?”

“She has, just had a bowl of porridge while chatting in the alley.”

Mrs. Chen didn’t like the baby rice powder sold outside, and when Ye Qiuqiu saw how well she had cooked the porridge, she didn’t say anything.

“Haobo said we could start feeding Qianqian some fish puree, look at the fish I bought from the market today, so fresh and lively.” Mrs. Chen took care of household chores and chatted about trivial matters at home.

Ye Qiuqiu joined the conversation, and Qianqian giggled seeing the fish caught by her grandmother, flapping its tail.

The laughter of her granddaughter brought a matching smile to Mrs. Chen’s face.

“By the way, you went out to attend a wedding, and Qianqian cried for two days because she couldn’t get breast milk, but she should be used to it now. I think we might as well wean her off completely, to avoid another round of crying later,” Mrs. Chen said: “Anyway, breast milk at six months doesn’t have much nutrition, and she’s eating porridge well.”

Ye Qiuqiu knew that no matter how she explained the nutritional benefits of breast milk, Mrs. Chen wouldn’t listen; she trusted her own beliefs.

When Chen Haobo came back in the evening, he seemed to be in a bad mood. Upon seeing Ye Qiuqiu at home, he just said “You’re back” and went to his room.

Ye Qiuqiu, holding Qianqian, thought of the things she brought back and followed him upstairs.

Chen Haobo, back in his room, cast his briefcase beside the bed and slumped onto the bed to pick up his phone.

“Busy?” Ye Qiuqiu asked.

“Replying to a client’s message.”

After he put down the phone, Ye Qiuqiu placed her daughter on the bed and took out a gift box from her bag for him.

The gift box had a luxurious feel to it, and upon opening it, Chen Haobo saw that the items inside were delicately extravagant.

He picked up a bottle of perfume and sniffed it: “For me?”

“Hmm, it’s men’s cologne, and the rest is also for you. They’re men’s things; I wouldn’t use them.” Ye Qiuqiu said.

Chen Haobo frowned slightly, “Must have cost a pretty penny, right?”
