The Romantic Cultivator

Chapter 228 Hunting A Seventh Rank Profound Beast (1)

Ji Yuan and his party had taken three days of rest before they set off again.

By the end of three days, Ji Yuan was refreshed again. The spiritual aura on the second level is much stronger than the first level and this sped up his profound strength recovery.

At the end of three days, he had startled to know Feng Minyue a little better; he had learnt that Feng Minyue was actually in charge of Fan Yuqing’s finances and is her best friend. He had also learnt that she used to be a sect leader of one of the nine leading patriarch clans in the Nine Celestial Fraternity as well.

When they were about to set off again, Shui Xisi said to Feng Minyue. “Ji Yuan will scout ahead of us. As you know, this place is vast and we may waste our time to search endlessly everywhere. If there is a false trail then Ji Yuan will double back.”

Feng Minyue asked curiously. “He is the scout? Isn’t he the leader?”

Ling Feiyue giggled as she pulled Feng Minyue to one side as she whispered. “It is the job of the party leader to ensure that the party is safe. So the leader is also the scout.”

Ji Yuan: …

I am not deaf. I can hear you even if you whisper…

Little Princess laughed too as she whispered to Feng Minyue. “Good sister, now that you’ve joined our party, you don’t have to worry about anything else. Just let the only man in the party do the job.”

Feng Minyue asked. “Is it really alright? Shouldn’t we help as well?”

“He will do fine, don’t worry.” Little Princess laughed.

Ji Yuan muttered silently; I can also hear you alright.

Bai Qianfeng smiled coolly. “My lord Ji Yuan will surely do fine. If you don’t believe, you can ask him directly. Right, Ji Yuan?”

Ji Yuan rolled his eyes before he laughed with great gusto. “Of course I am alright. It is the party leader’s job.”

And he had leapt ahead of the party as he waved back. “I love to scout anyway.”

But silently, he was cursing. Screw it. I hate to scout.

But whether Ji Yuan likes to scout or not, he would volunteer to scout. It was because he was protecting his women and he knew it.

He was glad to be a scout for them. The only unhappiness he felt was that he knew that they were trying to lure him away so that they could gossip about him.

Feng Minyue muttered. “Ji Yuan is really a gentleman…”

Ji Yuan really had sharp hearing and when he had heard Feng Minyue, he began to laugh heartily as he continued his scouting mission with great enthusiastic.

“Haha, no problem! Count on me!”

After Ling Feiyue, Little Princess, Bai Qianfeng and Shui Xisi saw that Ji Yuan had disappeared on top of the cliffs, they began to say to Feng Minyue. “Now we can really chat freely…”

Feng Minyue asked curiously. “Chat?”

Ling Feiyue giggled softly. “Yes, like what kind of a beauty products are you using?”

Little Princess nodded. “Yes and what are your secrets?”

Shui Xisi laughed. “Do the maidens that are in the Nine Celestial Fraternity apply their makeup differently?”

Ling Feiyue smiled. “You don’t mind sharing with us your beauty secrets, do you?”

Feng Minyue shook her head as she answered. “Of course not…”

Bai Qianfeng smiled as she took out a box. “I have some immortal powder that can enhance our beauty here…”

When Ji Yuan was far away, he began to shake his head as he wondered; I just don’t understand why they have so many things to chitchat about? I wish I can turn myself into a woman sometimes so that I can listen in…

All of a sudden Ji Yuan spotted a cultivator below the cliff and he was looking around cautiously.

There is someone here?

He was obviously not from the Desolate Celestial Fraternity.

Ji Yuan laughed as he landed lightly in front of him. “Hey, you. What are you doing here?”

The cultivator was startled by Ji Yuan as he quickly unsheathed his sword. “Who are you?”

“And who are you?” Ji Yuan asked.

Upon seeing that Ji Yuan had no weapons in his hands, the startled cultivator began to relax. “I am Zhang Liao. I am looking for the presence of desolate monsters. And you are?”

Ji Yuan answered with an amused look. “I’m Ji Yuan. I am looking for the trial entrance. But why are you searching for the desolate monsters? You should be searching for the trial entrance instead.”

Zhang Liao smiled. “I am a monster hunter. So I am looking around for powerful desolate monsters to hunt.”

“You mean you are a trophy hunter.” Ji Yuan muttered.

“I’m a monster hunter.” Zhang Liao returned a frown too.

“That is precisely a trophy hunter.” Ji Yuan insisted.

Zhang Liao: …

“You’re being unreasonable.” Zhang Liao had suddenly pointed his sword at him as he raised his voice to say. “I’m a sixth realm golden celestial. If you’re wise enough, you should beat a hasty retreat now.”

Ji Yuan laughed. “And I’m a seventh realm golden saint! Haha.”

Zhang Liao flashed his sword and laughed. “You are a saint? Haha. What a joke. Why don’t you take a look into the mirror first?”

He noted that Ji Yuan did not react even when he had pointed his sword at his neck. Therefore he knew that Ji Yuan’s reaction was slower than him and even his cultivation realm level may be beneath him.

Therefore he was quite amused by Ji Yuan as he sighed softly. “You know that I am an orthodox cultivator and I won’t bully you. If it is the others then you may not be so lucky with your insolent remarks…”

All of a sudden he had paused halfway when he saw that Ji Yuan had taken out a mirror and was looking at himself while muttering. “I don’t look like a saint?”

Zhang Liao was even more amused. “One day you will be a saint. There is no shortcut to cultivations. You need to work harder to attain that goal and not by claiming that you’re a saint.”

“But I’m a saint.” Ji Yuan frowned.

“Whatever.” Zhang Liao smiled weakly.

Actually the reason why Ji Yuan did not evade Zhang Liao’s sword was because he could sense no killing instinct and he could evade his attack if he wanted to.

Ji Yuan’s reaction was many times faster than a typical cultivator, especially after he had mastered the third stage of the Divine Heart Recite, which was the Natural Instinct.

If Zhang Liao had moved an inch more, then Ji Yuan would immediately react with his sword fingers to interrupt the attack; he was so quick that he could perform two actions simultaneous, interrupting with his sword fingers and taking out his divine sword from his spatial ring in the next instant.

Zhang Liao said. “You’re from the Desolate Celestial Fraternity, am I right?”

“Right. And where are you from?” Ji Yuan asked. He could not resist adding. “How did you know?”

Zhang Liao laughed. “The Desolate Celestial Fraternity and the Nine Celestial Fraternity are two of the biggest celestial fraternities around. So it is not too difficult to identify them by their dressing. They are everywhere. As for me, I have come from the Eastern Isle Celestial Fraternity.”

“I’ve never heard of it before.” Ji Yuan muttered.

Zhang Liao was not offended. “It is one of the smallest celestial fraternities in the Celestial Realm. Naturally you may not have heard of my celestial fraternity before.”

Then he added with a laugh. “I am a monster hunter. In the Eastern Isle Celestial Fraternity, this is one of the most exalted celestial positions.”

“Well, in the Desolate Celestial Fraternity I am a Sword Saint and it is also one of the most exalted positions in my celestial fraternity.” Ji Yuan laughed. “So I guess that we are two extraordinary men here.”

Zhang Liao smiled bitterly as he looked at Ji Yuan. This guy is too shameless. He is just full of hot air. Everyone will be trying to be as low profile as possible and yet he is trying to bolster his strength in front of a superior cultivator.

He could not resist adding. “I have heard a Sword Saint usually have a sword spirit. Do you have one?”

Ji Yuan laughed. “Of course I have one. But brother cultivator, not all sword saints have a sword spirit. It is too difficult to obtain. Haha.”

Zhang Liao thought; obviously he doesn’t have one. Why don’t you show me your sword spirit first?

“What about you? Do you have a sword spirit or a spirit entity?” Ji Yuan asked him curiously.

Zhang Liao grinned. “Heh. I don’t mind telling you this but I have a seventh rank profound spirit entity.”

Ji Yuan gasped. “That is pretty impressive…”

Zhang Liao was laughing silently. Of course it is impressive. It isn’t that easy to kill a seventh rank profound desolate beast and it is even harder to obtain its artefact core. In the entire Celestial Realm, I am definitely among the top 100 cultivator to do so.”

“But I do know someone who has a seventh rank epic desolate beast as spirit entity. Even though I have never seen her using it before but I’m sure that it is more impressive than yours.” Ji Yuan added with a chuckle.

He had suddenly remembered that his Qianfeng had successfully obtained an epic artefact core. Although he have never seen her using her newly refined artefact core before but he knows that it will surely be impressive. After all Qianfeng is an immortal cultivator and she must be keeping it as her trump card.

Zhang Liao almost wanted to vomit blood. This guy is definitely full of hot air. He has never seen his friend’s spirit entity before then how the heck did he know that his friend has got a seventh rank epic artefact core?!

Zhang Liao began to stroke his mustache before he said. “Fellow Cultivator Ji Yuan, you need to restrain yourself in your speech and cultivate your soul. Then you will be able to advance yourself in your cultivation realm in the future.”

Ji Yuan laughed. “Haha. Don’t worry about me. Did I forget to mention that I am a peaked great saint already? Hoho. Therefore there is no need for me to cultivate anymore.”

Zhang Liao: …

This guy is completely hopeless…

Seventh rank peaked saint, my foot!

If he is a peaked great saint, does he even need to risk himself by entering the Empyrean Warrior Labyrinth?!

Usually a peaked great saint has the backing of an influential powerhouse and there are no need for them to risk their lives.

Am I talking to a fool from the Desolate Celestial Fraternity?

Zhang Liao hummed softly as he was beginning to lose his patience with Ji Yuan. “How about this then? I happen to know where one of the trials is for this level. It is pretty dangerous and that is why I am not going there yet until I have fully prepared myself. However there is a trade-off here. You will need to help me to kill a seventh rank desolate beast that I am hunting right now.”

Ji Yuan rubbed his chin. “This isn’t a bad deal. A seventh rank desolate beast is pretty dangerous and is even dangerous for a saint, let alone a sixth realm cultivator like you.”

Zhang Liao: …

Of course it is dangerous for a ‘saint’ like you. I have more experience than you, you dumbass! Or are you chickening out now?

But he forced a smile to say. “Even saints can get killed by a seventh rank desolate beast. This is a seventh rank profound beast that I’m talking about. Well, do you have the guts to follow me?”𝐧𝐎𝚟𝐄𝐋𝐍𝗲xt.𝔠𝑂𝓂

Ji Yuan laughed. “Of course I have the guts. Do you know that you have found the right cultivator to help you? You can depend completely on me to be your best support. Haha.”

Zhang Liao: …

As long as you don’t screw it up, I can at least assure that you will not die. But if you want to be a hero then you will surely be a dead hero. Then when that happens, don’t blame me for not warning you enough.

He could not resist adding. “Don’t say that I didn’t warn you. It will be pretty dangerous. I’ve been tracking this beast for two days now and had even engaged in several bitter fights with it.”

Ji Yuan laughed. “What is so dangerous about a single seventh rank profound desolate beast? With your seventh rank profound spirit entity and my sword spirit, we can surely kill it with ease.”

Zhang Liao smiled weakly. This guy is just trying to hook me up by making use of me.

So he said solemnly to Ji Yuan. “We are only forming a temporary party. I hope that you don’t follow me after we have hunted down this seventh rank profound beast.”

Ji Yuan shook his head as he laughed. “I wish I can but I can’t. I have a party of five most beautiful maidens waiting for me. Haha.”

Zhang Liao: …

This guy really knows how to boast…

If he really has a party of five beautiful maidens then why is he alone?!

Zhang Liao sighed as he said to Ji Yuan. “Come with me.”

Ji Yuan grinned. “Do you need my help to find this seventh rank profound beast?”

Zhang Liao frowned. “No…”

“You’re going the wrong way.” Ji Yuan said as he pointed over the cliff. “The desolate beast that you are hunting seems to have climbed over this cliff here.” His sharp eagle eyes had spotted the familiar marks that Zhang Liao was tracking to the cliffs. With just a look, he had already confirmed what Zhang Liao was looking for.

Zhang Liao frowned as he double checked the tracks before he had ascertained that Ji Yuan was actually correct.

He muttered silently; it must be just a lucky guess…

Zhang Liao naturally did not know that Ji Yuan was also quite a monster hunter himself while he was at the Five Heavens Peaks.

Also Ji Yuan’s eyesight and sense of smell are sharper than most of the other cultivators as well. Tracking down a desolate beast was like second nature to him and he did not even need to think about it.
