Chapter 1090: The Confrontation Between Hunter and Weeping Clown

Ning Shen raised an eyebrow. “Lord Organization?”
He recalled that when Gu Jin was in Continent M, the members of the Lord Organization had been quite polite to her. But wasn’t Gu Jin in Continent O now?
Makeup Artist: “The Lord Organization that killed the twelfth elder? How arrogant.”
“Devlin sent me a message saying the leader is Feng Jue, Gu Yang’s boyfriend. He must be here to sabotage the light cone experiment. Now that the Lord Organization has come prepared, it’s no longer safe here. We need to conduct the experiment as soon as possible,” the Family Head said anxiously.
“I’ll go meet Feng Jue.” The Makeup Artist closed her pink mirror and walked toward the east door.
Smile chimed in, “Hey, hey, I’ll go too.”
“Didn’t you want to wait for the light cone experiment to start and then transmigrate back to save your family?” The Makeup Artist pushed Smile aside. “I’ll handle this myself.”
Smile glanced between the Makeup Artist and Gu Yang, who was lying on the bed. “Alright then.”
Hunter wiped his sniper rifle and added, “Chief, I’ll guard the entrance.”
Weeping Clown’s eyes darkened behind his black-and-white mask as he glanced at Gu Yang, who lay on the bed, then walked toward the east door. “I’ll go take a look too.”
Not all the elders of Utopia yearned to return to the past and change their fate. Only the Chief, First Elder Ning Shen, Second Elder Singer, Third Elder Physicist, Fourth Elder Chemist, and Fifth Elder Hacker Smile sought to go back through the light cone experiment.
While they shared the same ideals, the physicist was different; he didn’t wish to change anything in the past but instead wanted to verify the light cone experiment for himself.
In contrast, Hunter and Weeping Clown were ranked second on the Dark Network Divine Spear Ranking and first on the Assassin Ranking. They joined Utopia to gain money and power.
Once the Chief and the others returned to the past through the light cone experiment, the rest would take over all of Utopia’s forces.
The east door was the only access point to the underground laboratory from Katie Manor; the other three doors led elsewhere. With the three elders—Makeup Artist, Hunter, and Weeping Clown—taking the initiative to guard it, the remaining members could carry out the light cone experiment without worry.
Exiting through the east door caused it to close automatically behind them, revealing a long corridor separated from the laboratory. On both sides of the corridor were more than ten doors, each marked with various signs.
At the end of the corridor was an elevator. Since their laboratory was thirty meters underground, they needed it to go up.
The Makeup Artist had already entered the elevator. She intended to wait for Hunter and Weeping Clown, but seeing them still at the other end of the corridor, she lost patience and closed the elevator doors, ascending first.
As the elevator rose, tension thickened in the corridor. Hunter, aiming his sniper rifle at Weeping Clown, held a cold gaze filled with lethal intent. With a single pull of the trigger, he could shatter Weeping Clown’s skull.
Almost simultaneously, the golden bracelet on Weeping Clown’s wrist released sharp golden threads that wrapped around Hunter’s neck. With a slight movement of his finger, he could sever Hunter’s head.
Despite being on the brink of death, both men remained unnervingly calm, as if detached from the life-and-death struggle unfolding between them.
Hunter stared coldly at Weeping Clown. “What did you exchange the potion for to increase your mental strength?”
