Chapter 863: Shocking

The army of Ding Xi, only tens of thousands strong, were completely surrounded by millions of enemy troops. Although on average, the enemy’s cultivation base was weaker, they had several generals who had stepped into the Sixth Star Realm of Second Pangu Heaven. These generals were shouting commands as some beast souls that looked like eagles wheeled over them, bringing them up to the sky and straight into the formation of their foes.

In the middle of this great army, over ten thousand Oracles were casting spells, enhancing the soldiers with various supportive magic. By comparison, the mere thirty-odd Oracles of Ding Xi looked shabby. Although all Great Yu’s first-grade provinces like Zhong Province had hundreds of thousands of Oracles, Ding Xi was only an eighth-grade province. The size of its Directorate of Celestial was just too small.

The power of magic had made up for the difference in cultivation bases. The dozen of flying ships from Ding Xi were densely surrounded by millions of soldiers, while countless bolts rained down on them like a fierce storm. Clearly, these projectiles were made with a technique derived from the same origin as Great Yu, and they were even further enhanced. But as the materials in outer heavenly realms were always inferior to those in Pangu Continent, their actual power was less than ten percent that of the standard weapons Great Yu’s army was equipped with.

The bolts bounced back as soon as they hit the ships’ surfaces. None could penetrate their targets. Even then, the outer walls of the ships’ hulls swung open, revealing the nozzles of large, custom-made quick-firing crossbows. Accompanied by loud twanging noises, wave after wave of bolts flew whistling out. Black as night, they met no oppose along their way, piercing armors and defensive magic all the same, and ripping the enemy soldiers’ bodies to pieces.

“For Great Yu!” With a long knife in his hand, the Ding Xi general leaped out of the ship, swooping down towards the few enemy generals.

His figure had only flickered and crossed a foe when suddenly one of them casually made a side cut with a bent blade. Quicker than words could describe, his head was removed from his neck, flying ever higher with a jet of blood. In the face of absolute power, nothing could make up for the difference. Besides, the enemy’s generals had all merged with beast souls, which gave them the ability to fly. Their dexterity in the air was far beyond that of the now dead general.

Midair, a Supreme Oracle cursed in exasperation. His Supreme Tower crashed through the void and brought him right above the two armies. “How dare you to kill my descendant?!” he snapped as he raised his right hand up. At the gesture, countless dark clouds drifted over from all directions, quickly turning into hundreds of thousands of black venomous pythons and falling down like torrential rain. The air rang with shrill whistles as they came pouring down, exuding gusts of cold air and plumes of poisonous gases that penetrated straight into one’s internal organs. Numerous enemy troops cried out in agony, and in just a flash they all melted into pus and blood.

Wu Qi gave Yu Gu a look. “He is the most senior Patriarch from the Chilin Clan,” whispered the old Oracle. “His clan is not strong, and Ding Xi is their only vassal province. That boy the enemy has just slain… I think he is Chilin Feng’s ninth-generation grandson.”

It turned out that the slain general was his descendant. No wonder this Supreme Oracle named Chilin Feng could not wait to jump out. But what puzzled Wu Qi was that none of the Primordial Immortals and Buddhas hiding in the void stood up to interfere. Although he was a Supreme Oracle, he was only as strong as a ninth-grade Primordial Immortal. They could easily stop his slaughter.

It was a total massacre when a Supreme Oracle confronted millions of ordinary soldiers. It would take him only the space of a few breaths to kill them all.

Just as Chilin Feng’s spells claimed the lives of numerous enemy soldiers and after he had severely battered the general who killed his descendant, far off in the distance a flagpole was suddenly raised, standing a thousand feet high with a golden flag that had only one character on it — Meng. Immediately after that, a voice, clear and sonorous like the dragon’s roar, rang out, “The enemy is too strong. Which of my loyal subjects is willing to shoulder my burden?”

Two seven-storied, black pagodas shattered through the void and made their appearances, emanating a powerful energy fluctuation that forced Chilin Feng back several miles.

Atop them stood two old men with withered faces, whose figures and looks were not much different from Great Yu’s seasoned Oracles. The strong wind in the high altitude filled their loose black robes and made their sleeves fluttered noisily. They both wore proud expressions, and with hands clasped behind their backs, they looked down at Chilin Feng, laughing coldly.

All Supreme Oracles hiding in the void were struck dumb. The auras emanated from these two old men were of the same origin as Great Yu’s Oracles. In fact, they were identical. But the shape of their Supreme Towers was very strange. You could call them Dao League’s Righteous Pagodas or even Buddhism League’s Futu Pagodas, but they were never Great Yu’s standard Supreme Towers.

Seven stories tall and all black, on the surfaces of the pagodas were carved with numerous images of ghosts and gods. In that respect, they were very much in the style of Directorate of Celestial. But other than that, they did not look anything like Great Yu’s Supreme Towers. At first glance, they appeared more like the seven-storied pagodas commonly seen in Daoist and Buddhist temples, only their style was a little odd.

And they were further dumbfounded when they saw the Dao League’s formations and the Buddhism League’s restrictive magic embedded on the pagodas; plumes of immortal aura were swirling gracefully around them while shafts of Buddha’s light radiated out of them. It made them looked neither fish nor fowl and rendered all the Supreme Oracles complete speechless.

Yu Gu’s face flickered, but Wu Qi said in a deep voice, “Don’t rush to attack for the moment. Everybody, let’s help Oracle Chilin keep the situation under control.”

The Supreme Oracles got the message. Quietly, they switched their positions in the void and completely surrounded the whole battlefield. But none of the Primordial Immortals or Buddhas moved. Not only that, Wu Qi and others even heard voices of mocking laugh coming over from their directions, as if they were laughing at Great Yu’s Supreme Oracles for being overly cautious.

Without saying a word, Wu Qi stamped his foot. Beneath him, four doors swung open on all four sides of Dark Yin Celestial Tower, from which came flying out eight Jade Armor Dark Turtle flying ships, followed by a fleet of hundreds of large flying ships. There were at least two thousand soldiers on each ship. The first move Wu Qi had taken was sending out his Dong Hai army, millions strong as well.

The armament the army of Dong Hai was equipped with was of the best quality in Great Yu. They had eight Jade Armor Dark Turtle flying ships with extremely strong defense, and the rest of the ships were either best in the offense, speed, or all kinds of other special abilities.

Princess Zhang Le gently waved her hand, ripping a large rift across the void, from inside came charging out a million troops of Dong Hai. Crying and shouting, they quickly surrounded the army of the ‘Great Meng’. With a cold laugh, Wu Qi and the princess walked out from their hiding, standing next to Chilin Feng with a smile on their faces.

Chilin Feng gave the couple a grateful look, then glanced in shock at the army of Dong Hai. Although all Great Oracles had profound magic power, and their Supreme Towers were literally battle fortresses capable of holding a million troops, not many of them actually did that. If they were to bring an army of a million troops everywhere they went, they would have to handle all kinds of trifle affairs.

The faces of the two old men, who were wearing proud expressions a moment ago, flickered. One of them cleared his throat, cupped his fist to Wu Qi and said, “Greeting, fellow Daoists!”

Wu Qi and Princess Zhang Le made no answer, while Chilin Feng walked up, his face cold, and said, “You’ve killed my juniors. Now, hand over the culprits, otherwise…”

The old men exchanged a glance, and then both burst out laughing at the same time. “Otherwise? What are you going to do? Are you going to slaughter Great Meng’s common people? They are all the descendants of the human race. If you killed them, hehe, Empress Wa is going to answer for your crime!”

Chilin Feng’s face flickered. He let out a cold snort, then waved a hand and threw out a plume of snake-shaped black smoke at the old men. The smoke slithered across the void, and in just the blink of an eye, it had turned into a nine-headed black snake, with all its mouths wide open. “Even though I can’t kill these common people, I can still kill the both of you!”

Wu Qi squinted at the old men across him. He briefly exercised his Primal Dharma Eyes and was able to clearly see the energy paths and various seals and spells inside them. Just then, they performed an incantation gesture together and stamped their right feet against the spire of their pagodas. Immediately, a loud rumble echoed across the void as meteors the size of water buckets came plunging down in beams of bright light.

Over thirty meteors smashed the black snake. From space, these meteors had been thoroughly tempered by the power of the sun, the moon, and stars, which gave them a sharpness that could not be found in the mortal world. As the snake was conjured by magic power, it was ripped to shreds in a flash.

The remaining dozens of meteors went straight toward Chilin Feng. He gave a cold snort, and suddenly countless tiny specks of light lit up on his Supreme Tower, while streams of ghost flame rapidly spread out across its surface. Before long, the entire tower was filled with numerous complex rune diagrams. Three layers of dark light barriers sprung up, and in the next instant, the meteors crashed on them and exploded into a show of fire and light, crumbling into pieces. And yet the light barriers were intact.

The brief exchange had allowed both sides to know their opponents’ strength. Chilin Feng’s magic was more ingenious and his cultivation base was stronger, but his foes were able to attack with meteors. So although their magic power was slightly weaker, as they could borrow the force of nature, they were on par as him. Besides, they had two persons, and Chilin Feng was alone!

The army of Great Meng, who was attacking the army of Ding Xi, was slowly retreating as soon as they saw the appearance of the army of Dong Hai. Both sides were holding their grounds across a distance of tens of miles. The overall strength of Dong Hai army was a few times stronger than the enemy, and their armaments were much superior. If they were to fight each other, it would only take them less than a quarter of an hour to completely destroy the enemy army.

Just as Wu Qi and Princess Zhang Le had suppressed the Meng army with their appearances, the voice rang out from beneath the great flag once more, “The enemy is too strong. Could it be that none of my loyal subjects could shoulder my burden?”

Loud and long cries echoed out as dozens of black seven-storied pagodas soared whistling up into the sky, flying toward Wu Qi.

The couple was startled and immediately ordered Dong Hai army to retreat.

This Great Meng, a kingdom from the outer heavenly realm, actually had dozens of Supreme Oracles?

And there were at least ten kingdoms brought by Far Heaven whose overall strength was equivalent to it!

Not only Wu Qi, even Yu Gu and others hiding in the void were utterly shocked. How long had Heaven and Buddhism League been planning all this?
