Also, many thanks to everyone who bought me coffee (*≧∀≦*)
Gu Jiao’s lips were unbelievably soft, and he had originally only intended to taste them lightly and stop there, yet who could have known that once he began, it would spiral completely out of control.
Gu Jiao was kissed awake by him and let out a soft, muddled hum while still half-asleep.
Unintentional teasing was always the most fatal kind, and he nearly surrendered entirely amid her faint murmurs.
He forced himself to restrain his desire and let her go, his chest rising and falling violently, his breathing short and uneven, and if it were not for the darkness inside the hibernation pod, and if it were not for how thoroughly drunk Gu Jiao was, she probably would have noticed the faint flush spreading across his face.
Gu Jiao gazed at the handsome face so close at hand with unfocused eyes, raised her slender fingertips, and pinched his burning cheek, saying drunkenly, “Huh? How can I still dream about this?”
She pinched it once, pinched it again, and pinched it yet again.
He allowed her small hand to make mischief on his face, and little by little, his heart finally began to calm down.
She was drunk, and he truly should not be taking advantage of her at a time like this.
So he planned to lie back down flat, but to his surprise, Gu Jiao suddenly grabbed his collar and glared at him fiercely.
For a moment, he had no idea what she was trying to do and could only let her keep hold of him.
Logically speaking, after being this drunk she should have already fallen asleep, yet she stubbornly kept her eyes wide open, staring at him with unusual seriousness, as if trying to determine whether he was real or not.
“Th-this isn’t a dream…” She said in shock. “You… you secretly kissed me?”
Keeping a straight face, he replied, “This is my hibernation pod. You were the one who lay down in it.”
Gu Jiao blinked, the effects of the alcohol still lingering, her head buzzing as she failed to notice anything wrong with that logic for the moment.
Wait, no, something was still off.
She straightened her expression and said, “There’s more than one hibernation pod.”
He said calmly, “I’m picky about beds.”
Gu Jiao, who was still inexperienced in the ways of the world, was successfully led astray by him. “Then… then it sounds like I’m the one at fault. So, earlier… could it be that I was the one who took the initiative…”
He looked at her with forced composure. “You said you liked me one moment, and the next you climbed into my hibernation pod, so what do you think?”
Gu Jiao lowered her gaze, and her grip on his collar changed from both hands to just four small fingers, barely pinching a tiny bit, looking especially guilty.
After a moment, she shut her eyes tightly. “I fell asleep!”
Godfather: “…”
Godfather looked at her face as she pretended to sleep, his gaze carefully tracing her features one by one before finally settling on her lips, which he had kissed until they were red and swollen.
In the end, he still could not hold back and pressed down to kiss her fiercely once more.
Gu Jiao opened her watery eyes and looked at him. “This time, I wasn’t the one who took the initiative.”
He lowered his head and gently kissed the corner of her lips, his voice hoarse as he said, “It was me… are you sober now?”
Gu Jiao nodded.
Bracing his hands on either side of her, he stared at her deeply, and then suddenly opened the hibernation pod and lifted her out.
Gu Jiao pouted and complained, “You already kissed me, and you’re still putting me back…”
When they passed by her own hibernation pod, he did not stop.
Gu Jiao froze for a moment.
He carried her out of the medical bay, went all the way up to the second floor of the villa, entered her room, and forcefully and dominantly pinned her onto the soft bed.
Her nose was filled with the unique, youthful fragrance that belonged only to her, and he could feel his blood surging upward, even his usually calm and indifferent heart beginning to beat twice as fast.
Gu Jiao was not faring any better than he was, as she stared blankly at his cold, sharp brows now tinged with desire, watched a bead of sweat slide down from his temple, and saw his exquisitely defined Adam’s apple move.
Gu Jiao felt that she was drunk again.
The moonlight that night was exceptionally beautiful.
But she felt that he was even more beautiful than the moonlight.
In her hazy state, she heard him say, “Once you graduate, I’ll take you away from the organization.”
She remembered herself agreeing, saying that they would leave together.
Unfortunately, that day never came.
……
In the pitch-black secret chamber, Gu Jiao lay on an ice-cold operating table as drugs and neurotoxins were injected into her body, the neurotoxins suppressing her loss of control, while the drugs slowly and relentlessly erased her memories bit by bit.
A red light lit up on the instrument beside them.
A man in surgical scrubs glanced at the data on the monitor and said, “That’s already the maximum dosage. If we inject her again, she’ll become an idiot.”
Nearby, another doctor in surgical scrubs paused for a moment. “The last vial.”
“Don’t do it, the risk is too high. She’s still useful to the organization, and the higher-ups never said to discard her.”
“Then half a vial.”
When the final half dose was injected, Gu Jiao completely lost consciousness.
……
The ninth month arrived once again, and Gu Jiao traveled with Xiao Heng, Long Yi, and Chang Jing across the ice fields toward Hidden Night Island.
This year, the ice fields seemed to grow cold earlier than usual, and along the way they unexpectedly ran into a blizzard, which caused the young couple to be separated from Long Yi and Chang Jing.
Strangely enough, despite the ferocity of the storm, Xiao Heng managed to drive the ice-field wolves and find the correct direction.
And whenever this happened, there was always a cold, oppressive aura about him that was entirely different from the one he carried in the imperial court.
The two of them arrived at Hidden Night Island first, and two days later, Chang Jing and Long Yi also made it there.
Gu Jiao was very surprised. “Chang Jing and Long Yi are both from Hidden Night Island and grew up alongside ice-field wolves, yet you actually arrived faster than they did.”
Being praised by his wife made Xiao Heng inwardly smug a hundred times over, but that pride did not last long.
Because Gu Jiao went to see that man again.
He knew it. Everything about accompanying Long Yi back and visiting Chang Jing’s relatives was just an excuse!
She had come here to tend that man’s grave!
Yes, that man had died miserably, burying his bones on Hidden Night Island just to cultivate the purple herb, using his own flesh and blood as nourishment.
But she always kept him in her heart, and he felt jealous too!
He sat on a stone bench in the courtyard, his hands tucked into a hand-warmer, his face dark as he shook one leg incessantly.
Chang Jing walked over carrying a plate of freshly washed fruit and asked him, “Want some?”
“No.” He rejected it expressionlessly.
He had no appetite.
From where he sat, he could clearly see the direction of the graveyard, where Gu Jiao braved the biting cold wind, clearing the accumulated snow from the grave bit by bit.
She worked with great care, completely ignoring the fact that her hands had been frozen red.
Xiao Heng ground his teeth.
After shaking his left leg, he shook his right, his small sideways glances icy with resentment.
Chang Jing ate the fruit with great relish.
Xiao Heng shot him a look.
Couldn’t you go help her for once?
All you know how to do is eat!
Can’t you see her hands are frozen like that?
If you went to help her, wouldn’t she no longer have to personally pay her respects to that man?
Honestly, you don’t understand how to share the worries of your future brother-in-law at all.
I’m not letting you be my brother-in-law anymore.
You’re out!
Chang Jing ate his fill but still remembered to leave half for Feng Wuxiu, since he had promised Feng Wuxiu to bring back some Hidden Night Island fruit and fish on the way back to the State of Zhao.
“Long Yi!” Xiao Heng called out angrily as he stared at Gu Jiao’s reddened hands.
She was already grown up, yet she still didn’t know how to take care of herself. Would it hurt to let Long Yi handle something like this instead?
Long Yi was in the secret chamber and could not hear Xiao Heng at all.
Xiao Heng swore that he was absolutely not acting out of curiosity; he was simply going to call Long Yi out to do some work!
He rose calmly to his feet, gracefully brushed the snowflakes from his robes, and coolly entered a secret chamber behind the study.
The passage within the secret chamber had already been opened by the little medicine chest.
This was Xiao Heng’s first time entering this place.
The corridor was pitch-black, with a half-closed door at the far end, and a slanted beam of incandescent light spilling out to illuminate a small area, adding several layers of mystery to the scene.
A strange feeling welled up in Xiao Heng’s heart.
He was certain that this was his first time here, yet for reasons he could not explain, the place did not feel entirely unfamiliar to him.
He pushed open the half-closed door.
Long Yi was sitting cross-legged on the brightly colored floor, holding a photo album in his arms, and within that album there were only three people——Godfather, her from a past life, and Long Mengmeng as a baby.
When he was young, his body had been extremely weak, leaving him unable to leave the treatment pod and unable to grow normally.
It was his father who transfused him with a great deal of his own blood, allowing him to awaken from the treatment pod.
Xiao Heng walked up behind Long Yi, and since he had no intention of prying into someone else’s privacy, he did not look at what Long Yi was holding, instead asking, “What are you spacing out about? I called you and you didn’t even hear me.”
“Thinking about him.” Long Yi answered honestly.
Who that “him” was went without saying.
Xiao Heng narrowed his eyes dangerously.
Very good, now Long Yi had started too.
Suppressing the surge of jealousy in his heart, Xiao Heng looked around and noticed that all the doors were open, except for a wooden door on the right-hand side.
He asked instinctively, “Huh? Why is that door closed?”
Long Yi replied casually, “Oh, that’s Father’s hibernation pod inside. Only he can go in.”
Only after saying this did he realize that Xiao Heng had already come over, and this room was equipped with a security system that forbade outsiders from entering, otherwise they would be attacked by weapons.
Long Yi snapped back to his senses, hurriedly put down the photo album, and stood up to block Xiao Heng behind him.
Unfortunately, it was too late, as the green light of the scanner had already fallen on Xiao Heng, the source light flickering twice before a cold mechanical voice slowly sounded, “Unidentified intruder detected. Initiate elimination?”
“System pause.”
“System error.”
“System rebooting.”
The last time Gu Jiao had come here, she had encountered the same situation, and it had ultimately ended with the mechanical voice announcing “system overload” as the system crashed.
Long Yi thought this time it was the same kind of malfunction.
Who would have thought that what followed was not the AI prompt of “system overload,” but instead——
“System authentication in progress.”
“System rebooting.”
“Re-authentication.”
“Authentication complete.”
“Marshal, long time no see.”

Summary:
Xuan Zhi transmigrated into a world where the cultivation of “Supernatural Talismans” was a central practice. In this world, Talisman Masters could use talismans to summon gods, exorcise ghosts, command demons, and control the five elements, making this profession universally acknowledged as the No.1 most promising career in the cultivation world.
When she arrived, she was dressed in red bridal clothes, sitting in a bridal carriage, holding her ancestral “Celestial Talisman,” and preparing to form a marriage alliance with the Yun Clan of Eastern Zhou.
According to the original plot, after marrying into the Yun family, she would be restrained and effectively placed under house arrest in the name of the “three obediences and four virtues,” her husband would change from the Second Young Master Yun on the marriage contract to the abusive Third Young Master Yun, and she would eventually be tormented to death.
Meanwhile, the Yun family would seize her “Celestial Talisman,” summon wind and rain with it, and leap to become the number one great clan in Eastern Zhou.
Xuan Zhi: “Wouldn’t it be better for me to summon gods myself? Why should I give good things to others?”
***
Xuan Zhi: “Great Sage, I’ve been your fan since I was little!”
The “Celestial Talisman” rumbled, releasing a swirling cloud that carried her one hundred and eight thousand li before she plummeted headfirst straight into the main villain's bath.
Xuan Zhi: “I beseech True Lord Erlang to save my life!!”
The next moment, a dog paw suddenly struck her face, barking fiercely as it tore apart every malevolent spirit and sinister creature that surrounded her.
Xuan Zhi: “I may not be able to summon the great gods themselves, but I can summon their little pets and treasures.” (Forced smile.jpg)
Other characters in the book: “Just what kind of gods is she summoning?!!”
Xuan Zhi: “Sorry, my mythology runs on different lore.”
***
One day, Xuan Zhi finally summoned a god everyone recognized.
The Northern Abyss Ghost Emperor emerged amid countless evil spirit followers, clad in a black flame-edged robe with dancing sashes, his dark red eyes radiating a commanding, kingly aura, so imposing it seemed he was a different person from the one chased and bitten by a dog naked that day.
He held a divorce letter in his hand and sneered. “Part ways amicably, and live our own lives in peace?”
His sinister gaze locked onto Xuan Zhi. She snatched the letter, tore it to pieces, then shyly threw herself into his arms and squeezed out tears. “Boohoo, you devil, why did you come so late? Look, they all bullied me!”
Shentu Tao: “……”
Everyone she pointed at backed away in panic. “Good heavens, who is bullying who?!”

Summary:
In the suspenseful supernatural novel “Records of Mortals,” Jiang Baiyan, once a solitary and impoverished youth, finds refuge in the Shi family of Chang’an due to his extraordinary bloodline. With his clear and captivating peach blossom eyes, this seemingly innocent young man conceals a fanatical and malevolent lunatic within. Destined to succumb to darkness amidst hardship and degradation, he becomes a harbinger of chaos.
When Shi Dai suddenly transmigrates, she takes on the role of the Shi family’s young lady, the one who subjects him to countless trials, eventually leading to her demise.
The twist? She never got to finish reading the novel.
From what she knew of the plot, Jiang Baiyan was just a silent, timid, and often bullied pitiable character.
***
Jiang Baiyan had never encountered someone like Shi Dai.
After he had slaughtered all the evil creatures in the garden, the blood-stained young man, exuding a murderous aura, approached her step by step, his lips curling into a malicious smile, "Scared?"
Shi Dai responded, “You’re really amazing! I applaud you until I spin like a spiral and fly around the moon three hundred times! And also——you have dimples when you smile!"
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
—
After seeing her at a lantern festival with another man, Jiang Baiyan lowered his eyes, his fingers twirling her hair. He said in a mocking and sinister tone, "The mansion in the western suburbs...if I hide you there, no one will find you, right?"
Shi Dai replied, "Does it come with meals and lodging? Can I sleep in everyday? Oh, and your cooking is the best!"
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
—
Jiang Baiyan was supposed to dislike her, even hate her, but as their separation drew near, his eyes turned red and he grabbed her sleeve, pleading, "Don't abandon me, alri—”
Shi Dai responded, "Alright, alright, I’ll only have you. Mwah."
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
He hasn't finished his lines yet though…
