I Am the Fated Villain

Chapter 1556

Chapter 1556: The way to resolve the curse, younger sister, who is this?

If he hadn’t heard these words with his own ears, Jing Xiang would have found it hard to imagine such a thing could happen. The very founders of the Jing family had not only been betrayed by their descendants but had also been sealed away, becoming the nourishment for their own kin’s cultivation. This secret was far too shocking and unbelievable.

“Is this true? Why have I never heard my parents mention it? What really happened to the Jing family…” Jing Xiang was overwhelmed with disbelief and confusion, struggling to accept such a staggering revelation. He had always believed the Jing family to be an immortal ancient aristocracy, removed from the taint of the mortal world. Who could have guessed that they were involved in such outrageous acts as killing their own ancestors?

As he contemplated the ancient history of the Xi Yuan civilization, tracing the long river of time, he realized he had never heard of anything like this.

“Ah,” the voice responded, still filled with resentment and anger. It let out a deep, mocking laugh before continuing, “If you don’t believe me, just ask your ancestors. No, wait—I forgot; you’re not even a cultivator. You have no right to approach them, and it’s impossible for your parents to share the clan’s secrets with you.”

“Do you think the Jing family has lived in seclusion for generations, avoiding worldly affairs out of disdain for power or indifference to resources? Not at all! It’s because they fear that the truth of their past misdeeds will be exposed, turning them into a laughingstock ridiculed by the world…”

Jing Xiang stood frozen, rendered speechless for a long time.

Originally, Jing Xiang was just a carefree son of the Jing Mansion, living a life of leisure with no talent for cultivation. Digesting such secrets was going to take time.

“Then, ancestor, why am I hearing your voice again? And about that curse you mentioned earlier—since you left it behind, do you have a way to dissolve it for me?” After a long silence, he couldn’t help but ask.

Upon hearing this, the voice let out a disdainful laugh. “You can hear my voice because of the curse. While I must have a way to resolve it, I am trapped in the Jing family’s knot in this world, and I am no longer complete. The only thing I can do is take advantage of the power of the enchantment to loosen at noon and spread some words.”

“So, this ancestor can’t help you resolve the curse right now. At most, I can find you to relieve your boredom when you’re feeling dull. Although you are also the heir of those unscrupulous younger generations, there’s a wrong and a debt. Despite not being the most forgiving person, I will not implicate you.”

Jing Xiang couldn’t help but smile bitterly at the words.

Jing Xiang realized that he didn’t even have a cultivation base. According to what this distant ancestor had said, he lacked the qualifications to connect to the clan land, making it impossible for him to find the location where the ancestor was sealed and have him solve the curse. This led him to a troubling realization: perhaps it wasn’t that his parents had failed to seek help from the ancestors regarding his curse; rather, it was likely that the matter was so complicated that even the ancestors couldn’t do anything about it.

After all, it was a shameful secret of the Jing family, and such matters would not be easily revealed to the rest of the clan.

But suddenly, something clicked in Jing Xiang’s mind. He knew his parents well enough to be confident that they would never allow such a rebellious act of killing ancestors to occur within the family. If he shared this information with them, they might have a solution to resolve his curse.

As he left the Jing Guo Palace, he unexpectedly encountered two maids who were looking for him.

“My lord, Miss Xiao’er is back, and she is now in the mansion, accompanied by Miss Ling Yuxian,” one of the maids informed him.

The two servant girls were aware of the reasons behind Jing Xiang’s sadness over the years, so they hurried to share the news of Jing Xiao and Ling Yuxian’s return.

Compared to before, the current Ling Yuxian was more refined and glamorous. Her skin glowed like jade, radiating a delicate and flawless luster, reminiscent of a mysterious girl who had descended from another world—noble yet fierce.

Hearing Jing Xiang’s approach, Ling Yuxian simply opened her eyes and glanced at him, nodding slightly without saying anything further.

Jing Xiang, however, couldn’t contain his surprise and excitement. He was oblivious to Ling Yuxian’s indifferent demeanor and began to chat enthusiastically, recounting many events from the years they had been apart. He inquired about her experiences and progress in her cultivation at Yu Xian Palace. Ling Yuxian responded casually, giving only brief answers.

“Hey, where’s Xiao’er?” After calming himself down, Jing Xiang noticed that his younger sister, Jing Xiao, was absent from the courtyard. Curiosity sparked within him.

Ling Yuxian frowned, glancing out of the courtyard. Jing Xiao had been with Gu Changge for a while now, wandering around, yet she had yet to return.

“I believe Senior Brother Gu would not lie to me; he must have his reasons for saying that,” she thought, lost in her contemplation.

Just then, some voices emerged from outside the courtyard. Jing Xiao, having finished her stroll with Gu Changge, was making her way back. However, despite the seemingly straightforward remarks from Gu Changge, she remained skeptical, convinced that he was facing some kind of difficulty that compelled him to speak in such a way.

Regarding Jing Xiao’s doubts, Gu Changge really didn’t know how to explain himself, so he simply chose not to address it at all.

“Junior Sister Jing Xiao, at this time, don’t embarrass Senior Brother Gu,” Ling Yuxian remarked coldly as she watched Jing Xiao return to the courtyard with Gu Changge. Her frown deepened, showing her disapproval, while she seemed entirely unconcerned about Jing Xiang’s thoughts on the matter.

Jing Xiang’s attention was immediately drawn to the man in white who followed his sister into the courtyard. He was taken aback for a moment before realizing what Ling Yuxian had just said. His brows furrowed tightly, and a look of discomfort crossed his face.

“Sister, who is this young master?” Jing Xiang asked in a low voice, looking at Jing Xiao.

“Senior Brother…,” Jing Xiao began, wanting to refute Ling Yuxian’s earlier comment, but upon seeing her elder brother’s return, she held back. Instead, she introduced, “This is Senior Brother Gu, a disciple of Yuxian Palace.”

Gu Changge glanced at Jing Xiang, a strange look flashing in his eyes. He nodded slightly and said, “Greetings, Brother Jing Xiang. Junior Sister Jing Xiao has mentioned you many times.”

“It turned out to be the esteemed disciple of Yu Xian Palace. Greetings, Brother Gu,” Jing Xiang replied, his expression improving slightly. Although he was still unsettled by the earlier interaction, he understood the importance of maintaining decorum and refrained from saying too much.
