Chapter 1703. The Great Sacrifice of Black Calamity is about to begin, the will of the Lord of Heaven
In a grand, ancient hall, solemn and respectful, deep within lies an expanse that resembles an endless universe. Thick chaotic mist spreads, intertwining every inch of space. The Great High Priest is enveloped in black mist, with no visible face or body. Step by step, they move from the outer hall, climbing the floating stairs in the void, toward the deepest part of the hall.
On either side of the stairs stand towering pillars, made of various types of primal mother gold, supporting the entire hall. The vast hall seems empty and serene. Only the faint sound of footsteps echoes as the Great High Priest ascends the stairs.
At the highest point of the hall, the previously revealed blood-red altar silently floats in the air. The surging chaotic mist wraps around it, completely enveloping the altar. At that moment, it is calm, ancient, and vast, with all the blood-red glow retracted.
The Burial World Coffin, which seals the body of the Lord of Heaven, lies quietly there. The intense darkness spills from the corner of the open gap like a flooding river, rushing down, sweeping across the Great High Priest’s body, and scattering the black mist around them.
The Great High Priest is dressed in a full black robe, tall and slender, with their face hidden under the hood, making it impossible to see their true face. Even under the hood, the air is thick with black mist.
“Are you calling me?” The voice of the Great High Priest is calm, but the words echo, “I hear your voice again…”
The Great High Priest ascends the stairs, step by step, until they reach the blood-red altar. The terrifying pressure that could crush worlds and cause the void to collapse falls upon them, but it does not shake their steps.
The Burial World Coffin, as the first treasure of civilization that sealed the body of the Lord of Heaven, could instantly crush any being that came near, reducing them to dust. But when this pressure reaches the Great High Priest, an invisible force appears, dispelling all the crushing pressure, turning it into nothingness.
“Are you about to return?”
“I have always been waiting for you,” says the Great High Priest. They sit beside the Burial World Coffin, unaffected by the pouring darkness. Resting their head against the coffin, they listen intently, as if they could hear the beating of the heart inside.
The powerful dark matter surges through them like a tide, but the Great High Priest remains still, listening with utmost devotion. The only sound in the vast hall is the flow of dark matter. The Great High Priest seems to truly hear familiar words, as if from the heart of the coffin.
After a long while, the disturbance within the Burial World Coffin calms down. The dark matter gradually becomes thinner, transforming from an immense ocean into a thin stream, until it becomes a layer of black mist floating in mid-air.
“I understand.”
“I will wait forever for the day we reunite.”
“That day is not far off…”
The Great High Priest finally stands up, wrapping their body again in the thick black mist. As they rise, the mist dissipates, and they disappear from this place. When they reappear, they are standing outside the Lord’s Hall.
Numerous other high priests and sacrifices gather before the mountains, a sea of people kneeling silently, respectfully, in absolute stillness. The voice of the Great High Priest, calm and without fluctuation, echoes across the realm of nightmare and magic, “I have heard the Lord’s voice.”
“The Lord is about to return, and darkness will again shroud the earth. The name of the Lord of Heaven will once again resound throughout the vast universe.”
“The Great Sacrifice will begin today.”
After a period of dead silence, a frenzy and deafening cheers erupted across the entire Nightmare Magic Domain. Every being that reacted had expressions of extreme excitement and enthusiasm. They had waited for this day for countless years, and finally, it had arrived.
Darkness is the eternal, unchanging tone of all worlds. The eternal night falls, the Great Sacrifice begins, and the brilliant sun will fall today. The name of the Lord of Heaven will once again resound across the vast universe, and they, the true rulers of these vast worlds, will return!
“What?”
The high priests and ceremonial priests in this place, upon hearing the words of the Great High Priest, reacted differently from the other beings. Shock and disbelief appeared on their faces. Some even doubted whether they had heard wrong.
Starting the Great Sacrifice now? Isn’t this a joke?
The countless years of planning for the great revival were still far from complete, and yet the Great Sacrifice is to be opened just like this? It’s absurd and incomprehensible.
Today, the Burial World Coffin suddenly exhibited strange movements, which was somewhat suspicious, but compared to the sudden decree of the Great High Priest to begin the Sacrifice, this was negligible. This left them all feeling utterly baffled. Has the High Priest gone mad?
“Great High Priest, our preparations are not yet complete. We haven’t even gathered all six first-generation civilization treasures. How can we begin the Great Sacrifice, and how will we welcome the return of the Lord?”
“If we cannot break the seal on the source of the black calamity, what will starting the Great Sacrifice accomplish?”
“Even if we can’t find all the first-generation civilization treasures before starting the Sacrifice, they must be destroyed first. We cannot allow them to exist in the world any longer. They are the only threat to the Lord.”
“Furthermore, although our power is ample, revealing ourselves to the world too early may cause unpredictable changes…”
“Great High Priest, please reconsider and do not act rashly. Do not let the revival plan, which we have pursued for countless ages, be interrupted.”
Several high-ranking priests, who usually wouldn’t dare to oppose the Great High Priest due to her immense power, now stood up, feeling that starting the Great Sacrifice at this time was unwise and fraught with risk.
One priest, dressed in a white robe with a pure white mask, directly rebuked, “Great High Priest, we all understand your eagerness to welcome the Lord, but we cannot recklessly ruin the planning that has been in place for countless years.”
“Starting the Great Sacrifice now is inappropriate. It will bring endless trouble. At the very least, we must first break the seal on the source of the black calamity or find the six civilization treasures…”
The Great High Priest’s position is special and holds an unparalleled significance among the Celestial People. Even in ancient times, meeting her was like meeting the Lord of Heaven in person, as she had been by the Lord’s side for the longest time.
In terms of seniority, there is no one among the Celestial People who can compare to her.
At that moment, the priests and high priests, shocked yet compelled to speak out, even if it meant offending the Great High Priest, couldn’t help but express their opposition. They felt that this haste to start the Great Sacrifice was far too dangerous and reckless.
Some even wondered if the Great High Priest had gone mad, so desperate to greet the Lord that she disregarded the consequences. Many of them felt that now was not the right time to begin the Great Sacrifice.
After all, once the Great Sacrifice begins, it would mean the return of the remnants of Heaven—the black calamity remnants. These remnants would bring disaster once again to the world. No matter how perfect their plans had been, they would face the most terrifying resistance.
The current Celestial People, no matter how strong, are still not as powerful as the Lord of Heaven who once ruled the vast universe.
How could they lead the Great Sacrifice? How could they oppose the entire vast universe?
“The Celestial People may not have the power to lead the Great Sacrifice now, but that no longer matters. I have heard the voice of the Lord. This Great Sacrifice is for the return of the Lord…”
The Great High Priest stood before the Lord’s Hall, calmly observing the priests and high priests who were in dispute and shock. Her tone was as calm as ever, devoid of any emotional fluctuation, as if she were not moved at all by the commotion around her.
She understood the concerns of some of the high priests but chose not to acknowledge them or respond. The Celestial People may not seem as peaceful as they appear on the surface, but for the Great Sacrifice to proceed smoothly, she could only act as if she didn’t see their objections.
Once their use is exhausted, she would naturally settle accounts with all who have shown disobedience or disrespect to the Lord.
She knew that those high priests must have sensed the terrifying will that had recently awakened. However, they couldn’t hear the voice of the Lord because their hearts had become disrespectful, losing the necessary devotion.
All the priests and high priests’ faces changed dramatically. The Great High Priest’s stance was so resolute that it was clear there was no room for negotiation. Moreover, the Celestial People had indeed been dormant for far too long, especially those hiding within the Nightmare Magic Domain. Many beings could no longer hold themselves back, eager to return to the world.
Once the Great High Priest gave the order, there was no stopping them.
“Uuuuu…”
The sound of conch shells and horns soon reverberated throughout the entire Nightmare Magic Domain. Tremors shook across space and time, and terrifying black lightning, as dark as ink, streaked across the heavens and earth, shattering the cosmic space.
The long-silent Nightmare Magic Domain was once again broken, but this time, unlike before, the turmoil spread from the deepest parts, sweeping and ravaging countless layers of space-time.
This was the gathering of all the dark beings within the Nightmare Magic Domain.
In every dark and eerie burial pit and desolate land, pairs of terrifying eyes opened. These beings had seemed to sleep for countless millennia, suddenly awakened by the horn’s call. Rising from these regions, their massive forms, towering as high as the heavens and earth, were draped in the most intense dark particles of light.
The sound of the horn spread from the deepest parts of the Nightmare Magic Domain, layer after layer, reaching the outside world, sweeping through time and space with an incomprehensible and immense force.
With each layer, countless beings rose, a black mass of endless creatures, like an ancient evil awakening, emerging from the depths of darkness to unleash an earth-shattering roar to the worlds.
The heavens split open, and terrifying portals were torn asunder. A blinding wave of dark energy surged into the sky, shredding the distant universe and the vast expanse to pieces.
Dark hands reached out from within, grabbing and crushing distant stars.
“This day has finally arrived…”
It was as if the ancestral demon was murmuring. The Nightmare Magic Domain had arrived at its most chaotic and boiling moment in all of history.
“Uuuu…”
The horn’s call still echoed, as the Nightmare Magic Domain seemed to awaken from its long slumber. Cracks appeared and shattered, from which the thickest dark matter poured out, enveloping the entire vast world in a black mist that spread like a desert storm, heading towards all the worlds.
At that moment, countless civilizations felt a chill of terror, sensing the most dreadful, heart-pounding malice approaching, as though from a distant dimension, a pair of cold, venomous eyes were watching them.
All the worlds trembled in horror. In the Weiyang Celestial Dynasty, an immortal nation with a foundation comparable to the most powerful civilizations.
On a high-standing star platform, the sky was dark as ink, with countless brilliant stars shining. An elder, wearing a pure white priest robe, was observing and calculating something on a compass.
Surrounding him stood a dense circle of beings, with vast and radiant light swirling around them. There were mighty and tall humans, fearsome and shocking alien species, and even gods with divine halos.
At that moment, everyone was waiting for the elder’s predictions.
“Pu…”
Suddenly, the elder trembled, coughing up a mouthful of blood. His originally clear and profound eyes suddenly became murky, blood dripping from them in thin streams, an incredibly disturbing sight.
The compass in his hand cracked with a sharp sound, revealing countless terrifying cracks, from which dark mist continued to seep out.
“Master Xingming, what do you see?”
The people around, upon seeing this, were all shocked and hurried to help the elder, their faces filled with concern.
“This is an ominous sign,” the elder said with a trembling voice, struggling to stand up with the support of others. “I see endless black mist, sweeping toward the Weiyang Celestial Dynasty. Chaos is coming, and darkness will once again cover the earth.”
“The black calamity of the past will wreak havoc in the world once again…”
The elder’s voice quivered as he spoke, and as soon as his words were finished, the compass in his hand shattered into pieces, bursting into a cloud of dust. His body then fell straight to the ground, unconscious and possibly lifeless.
Everyone around him was shocked, their faces filled with fear and disbelief. The Xingming National Master, who had come from that place and had once assisted the current Emperor of Weiyang, was now saying such words. This was truly hard to believe.
“Was the will that swept across the entire vast universe related to the source of the black calamity?”
A god spoke with a trembling voice, as if recalling something, with a strong fear appearing in his eyes. The divine halo behind him also quivered lightly.
“Help the Xingming National Master to rest.”
“I can already feel it, in a distant realm, a thick dark energy is awakening. The remnants of the black calamity will surely rejoice at this will sweeping through, even returning to the worlds once again.”
“They have been dormant for countless years, unable to hold back any longer…”
A large, muscular man, clad in dark iron armor, nodded. Looking toward the distant starry sea, his gaze deep and cold, he spoke in a low voice.
