I Am the Fated Villain

Chapter 1709

Chapter 1709. Evil-Repelling Arrow, Prepare for Death

Chu Heng ordered everyone to retreat as he raised his hand, and a thick red-corded spear appeared in his grasp, surrounded by fragments of ancestral realm rules. Time, the Great Dao, and immortal auras swirled around the spear.

With a powerful sweep, the vast area of dark creatures in front of him was instantly obliterated, clearing the space. The other dark creatures, cautious of him, chose to retreat quickly instead of confronting him directly.

However, Chu Heng, once a legendary war god of the Immortal Chu Haotu, unleashed a strike with an overwhelming force, his spear embodying the power of heaven itself. As the spear swept through, its speed surpassed time itself, instantly disintegrating a dark giant that couldn’t avoid the attack, causing it to explode into fragments.

“Gu Li…” The remaining dark creatures cried out in shock, clearly rattled by Chu Heng’s power.

The shattered dark giant rapidly regenerated, as black mist enveloped its body, and the dismembered limbs quickly reassembled, healing and coming back together.

Chu Heng’s expression turned grave, his brows furrowing deeply. He had fought countless battles and faced numerous formidable enemies, but this was the first time he encountered something so troublesome. Even after the life wheel was destroyed with a single strike, the creature remained unharmed.

“With so many dark creatures suddenly appearing in the chaotic sea of time and space, once they break free into the Xiyuan civilization, it will bring catastrophic disaster to all living beings,” he thought gravely, once again swinging his spear towards the southern sky to fight back, holding the rear for the strong members of the Fatian Alliance.

Without him, the others would have no hope of surviving against these dark creatures.

Boom!

The ground trembled violently, as the previously calm chaotic sea of time and space erupted into chaos once again. Chu Heng fought fiercely, clashing with the dark creatures like an immortal battle god, surrounded by an intense holy light that shielded him from the dark matter attempting to engulf him.

At that moment, a voice suddenly rang out from the depths of the black mist, cold and indifferent. A ghostly figure appeared, standing in front of the dark creatures.

The figure was clad in black fiend iron armor, towering and lean. His face was unarmored, with eerie blue eyes and two vertical cyan stripes spreading down from below his pupils, covering his entire face. A pair of bone-like horns, white as death, grew from his forehead, and massive wings like those from a deep abyss unfurled behind him, covering the sky as they spread out.

Chu Heng’s expression changed as he sensed an immense oppressive force. The spear he swung with great power was caught by the figure’s bare hands, moving with incredible speed. The figure’s cold, pale arm, like iron, firmly gripped the spear.

“You are strong, but not my opponent. Why not join the darkness and become one of us?” The figure said coldly, his cyan eyes emotionless and chilling.

“The dark creatures bring endless chaos to all worlds, bringing disaster to the people. To ask me to ally with you and become one of your kind is nothing but a dream,” Chu Heng sneered, ignoring the figure’s words. With a shake of his wrist, a vast power surged, and the spear trembled, releasing a terrifying force that broke free from the figure’s grip.

“Such a pity,” the figure said indifferently, his speed so fast he disappeared from sight, surpassing both time and space in an impossible manner.

He raised his hand and aimed straight at Chu Heng’s chest, seemingly intending to pierce his heart and extract it.

Boom!

Chu Heng suddenly felt a chilling cold and quickly retreated, swinging his spear to block. In an instant, an indescribable wave of energy erupted, burning fiercely like a surging wave crashing against the shore, with rocks flying through the air, tearing apart the fabric of time and space.

The remnants of their movements disappeared in an instant, only to seemingly reappear in every chaotic time-space, within each broken gap in the shattered dimensions.

Endless Dao laws unfolded as each clash between them silently annihilated chaos. Vast energy and light particles steamed and collapsed, scattering in the aftermath of their battle. Even the fragments of time and space were reduced to dust by the collision of their powers.

“Wow…”

However, this scene did not last long. Chu Heng’s figure suddenly reappeared, blood spurting from the corner of his mouth. His body trembled violently, blood dripping from his severed arm, falling like rain into the void. His arm had exploded, white bone fragments stained with blood, still clinging to shredded muscle, creating a horrifying sight. What was even more terrifying was the dark matter seeping into and eroding his flesh.

“You are stronger than most Ancestral Dao realm beings, but you cannot stop me,” the voice from the black mist echoed as the figure in the black fiend iron armor appeared once again. Blood was splattered on his hands, and his gaze remained cold, as if the battle had caused him no harm.

Chu Heng’s face turned grim, his heart heavy with dread. He glanced at his broken left arm, then, with a resolute expression, endured the excruciating pain and spat out a sword aura, sweeping away the corrupted blood and flesh that had been infected by the dark matter, preventing it from spreading further into his body.

“Lord Wu Yang has made his move. This person is no match for him,” several dark creatures in the distance stood by, watching, standing respectfully as if they had great faith in Wu Yang.

“An Ancestral Dao realm being who has survived seven Heavenly Decline Calamities in the current vast world should be an unparalleled figure. Your status is extraordinary. I never expected you to come personally…”

“Tell me your purpose, and perhaps I will spare your life…”

Wu Yang’s cyan eyes locked onto Chu Heng, as he attempted to force the truth from him.

Boom!

However, before his words were fully spoken, a terrifying sound echoed through the air.

Brilliant, dazzling light pierced from afar, like the first eternal light that emerged since the creation of the world. The entire chaotic time and space sea trembled violently as a blinding arrow shot toward them. Fragments of time and space swirled, Dao laws interlaced, and the arrow came straight for Chu Heng.It was an ancient arrow, as black as ink, surrounded by spiraling pillars of holy light that swirled around it, resembling a true demon-repelling arrow. It pushed back and expelled all dark matter in its path.

On Floating Continent, a figure stood atop a mountain, drawing a stringless bow and releasing the arrow toward this location.

“This is…”

Wu Yang froze for a moment upon seeing the arrow, as if unable to comprehend it. As he regained his senses, he immediately signaled the dark creatures behind him to retreat, seemingly wary of the power behind the arrow.

Chu Heng seized the opportunity and headed towards the Floating Continent, realizing that the person who had saved him remained a mystery. However, he understood that this was a fleeting chance, and if he stayed here any longer, his life might be at risk.

“What is that?”

On Floating Continent, Zhi Xuan stared in shock at Ah Li, who was slowly retracting her bow after firing the arrow.

Zhi Xuan was deeply stunned and shaken by the power of the arrow that had repelled the dark creatures.

She had such an incredible ability.

“It should be the Evil-Repelling Arrow mentioned in the ancient texts. This type of arrow was once highly effective during the Black Calamity era, and it has immense destructive power against dark creatures.”

“After the Black Calamity era ended, the remaining Evil-Repelling Arrows were relentlessly hunted down and destroyed by the remnants of dark forces.”

“Even the method for crafting these arrows was obliterated in the flow of time, lost to the ages. No one knows how to forge them anymore. Every remaining arrow is extremely precious, a rare treasure. Using one means losing one.”

An elderly figure beside Zhi Xuan whispered this explanation, equally shocked and amazed by Ah Li’s use of the arrow.

“There are such treasures? I wonder how many more Ah Li has?” Zhi Xuan asked.

Zhi Xuan nodded and began to believe Ah Li’s words about protecting him.

“Such treasures are incredibly rare. There can’t be many left. Ah Li probably only has a few remaining, saved for crucial moments to preserve her life.”

“She used one to protect people from the outside world…” The elderly figure, his expression complicated, shook his head.

Outside Floating Continent, a massive ancient warship hovered. Members of the Fatian Alliance rushed here but were blocked by an energy barrier, unable to enter.

The earlier scene had deeply shaken and frightened the powerful members of the Fatian Alliance.

Once they had regained their composure, many of them displayed expressions of gratitude. Without that arrow, Chu Heng might have found it hard to escape the dark creatures.”We are from the Fatian Alliance of Xiyuan Civilization, sent by our leader to find someone. We mean no harm…”

At this moment, the figure of Zhuo Fengxie, a once-legendary ancestor of the Zhuo tribe, stepped forward from the ancient warship, bowing to the people on Floating Continent through the screen to introduce himself.

Having lived for a long time, with even his eyelashes empty, he refrained from revealing the true purpose of their visit. In his view, with the dark creatures attacking, the people on Floating Continent were likely trapped, and any further conflict with them seemed unlikely.

“Xiyuan Civilization?”

The people on Floating Continent were taken aback. They had heard of Xiyuan Civilization before, as Ling Yuling had visited several times, and she was the ancestral master of the Yuxian Palace of Xiyuan Civilization. However, they had never heard of the Fatian Alliance before. Ling Yuling had only come here to speak with Qingxianzi, and never mentioned anything about the Xiyuan Civilization.

Just as the people of Floating Continent were deliberating how to treat the Fatian Alliance, a vibrant figure descended, radiating like a red cloud.

It was Shangguan Qing, the leader of the Shangguan family.

She held a smooth, translucent jade orb, which swiftly shot out and landed on the massive energy screen. A huge portal immediately appeared, allowing the Fatian Alliance members to enter.

One ancient warship after another rumbled forward, quickly passing through the portal.

“Thank you,” Zhuo Fengxie said, his face showing gratitude. He bowed in thanks, and then, with the help of his companions, escorted the returning Chu Heng as they moved forward.

The people of the Floating Continent had great respect for Chu Heng, especially after his battle with the dark creatures at the rear. Given that Floating Continent was currently facing a similar crisis, the energy screen wouldn’t protect them for long. Once the time was up, the dark creatures would come again.

At that point, Qingxianzi would stay behind to buy them time…

“Thank you for saving my life earlier.”

Despite having one of his arms severed and half of his body almost destroyed, Chu Heng’s spirit remained unshaken. The dark matter had not yet corrupted his flesh, and his severed arm was already healing and reassembling.

He respectfully bowed toward Ah Li in the distance.

Ah Li remained seated on the mountain peak and did not respond.

The Cold Crow Elder, who had stayed hidden inside the ancient warship and had never shown himself, now cast a puzzled look towards Ah Li in the distance. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something about her presence made him uneasy and cautious.

When they had first arrived in the chaotic sea of time and space, he had sensed the presence of the celestial beings, knowing that dark creatures had appeared in this region. However, he hadn’t expected so many to show up, with one even being powerful enough to challenge Chu Heng.

The Cold Crow Elder chose not to intervene, fearing that his own presence might draw the attention of the celestial beings and reveal his true identity.

“The celestial beings must have sent so many dark creatures here because the native inhabitants of the Floating Continent are unusual. Could they be remnants of some ancient tribe?”

He furrowed his brows, contemplating the situation.

There were many things he dared not ask Gu Changge, fearing it would interfere with his plans. Some things, he believed, were better left unexplained. The arrival of the Fatian Alliance intrigued everyone on the Floating Continent. Qingxianzi had remained at Shengzu Mountain and did not appear in person. Instead, the leaders of the six major families and Zhuo Fengxie engaged in discussions with the Fatian Alliance, while Zhi Xuan and the others observed quietly from the side.

When they learned that the energy screen could only last for two more days, Zhuo Fengxie and the others were stunned. Many of them turned pale, struggling to accept the harsh reality.

With so many dark creatures outside, including those that even Chu Heng couldn’t defeat, if the energy screen were to break, wouldn’t they just be waiting for death?

Though the elite members of the Fatian Alliance had experienced countless battles and feared nothing, facing an endless horde of dark creatures was almost impossible to withstand. Moreover, the most terrifying aspect of the dark creatures was that if they were corrupted by dark matter, they would turn into dark beings themselves.

With each transformation, there seemed to be no way to counterbalance or stop the tide of dark creatures. Many in the Fatian Alliance fell into despair, feeling as if there was no way out and they would eventually die here.

On the other hand, the people of the Floating Continent had a more open view of death. They had already accepted it. Upon learning that Ling Yuling and the leader of the Fatian Alliance had a close relationship, many of them felt more at ease.

Later, the leaders of the six major families revealed their plans to Zhuo Fengxie and the others. Before the energy screen faded, Qingxianzi, the child of Shengzu, would try to help everyone escape. Perhaps, in the process, the members of the Fatian Alliance could also leave.

Zhuo Fengxie and the others were quite surprised. They were especially moved when they learned that Qingxianzi would sacrifice herself to delay time for everyone.

“Surely, the person the leader of the alliance wants to find is Qingxianzi. I wonder if we will be able to meet her?” Chu Heng had never met Qingxianzi, but from the words of the people on the Floating Continent, he had a deep respect for her.

“At this time, Qingxianzi should be making her final preparations,” Shangguan Qing said, shaking her head. Her expression was complex, and there was a deep sadness in her eyes. “When I went to Shengzu Mountain earlier, I didn’t see her. I only heard her voice outside her cave, and she sounded extremely weary…”

Zhuo Fengxie and Chu Heng exchanged a glance, both troubled.

Gu Changge’s order was to apprehend the mastermind behind the Xiyuan alliance agreement—the one who had caused the chaos. Based on the current situation, though, Qingxianzi seemed to be the most likely suspect. Yet, how could they apprehend her? They were already struggling to save themselves.

“Could the leader of the alliance be mistaken? Since Qingxianzi is someone willing to sacrifice herself for others, how could she have been the one to undermine the Xiyuan alliance agreement?”

“Or is the true mastermind someone else entirely?”

“But Ling Yuling, after coming to the Floating Continent, only interacted with Qingxianzi.”

Their thoughts were complex, but they had no choice but to put the matter aside for now. If they could safely return to the Fatian Alliance and report to Gu Changge, they believed he would understand and not blame them.

The energy screen outside Floating Continent began to fade faster than anyone had expected. By the third day, it had already started to thin.

The tide of relentless dark creatures surged from the depths of the chaotic sea of time and space once again, but this time, they came in even greater numbers, more vast and overwhelming than before. The sight was endless, as black mist filled every corner of space and time, consuming everything in its path.

The people on the Floating Continent had long since made their final preparations. They had gathered all the important items, the remains of their loved ones, and many valuable resources, standing together with the elite members of the Fatian Alliance on the ancient warships. They faced the endless dark creatures outside the energy screen with grim resolve and determination.

“The energy screen is about to fade,” a dark creature spoke coldly, its voice echoing through the air. “The final barrier protecting you will soon vanish.”

“Have you all made your preparations to face death?” The dark creatures appeared in the space beyond the screen, looking down on everyone with cold, indifferent eyes.
