Chapter 1451: Chapter 1452: The Car is Rented
Rong Yan wiped her face and immediately sprang out of bed. “I’m at home.”
“At home?” Estelle’s tone didn’t sound particularly friendly. She said with a sarcastic smile, “Mr. Rong didn’t just get up at this hour, did she?”
Every time Rong Yan heard her call her Mr. Rong, her scalp tingled. She hurriedly slipped on her shoes and grabbed her phone, walking toward the bathroom, awkwardly explaining as she cradled the phone, “I stayed up too late last night… accidentally overslept, and the alarm didn’t go off, so…” She had spectacularly overslept!
Estelle, sitting in the speeding Mercedes on her way over, pinched the bridge of her nose but didn’t bother arguing with her. Gripping her phone, she urged, “Alright, I’ll be downstairs at your building in fifteen minutes. Get moving and come down in fifteen minutes. Make sure to put on light makeup and change into professional clothing. Don’t dress too casually like you usually do!”
“Uh…”
Fifteen minutes to wash, shower, and apply makeup—was she serious?
Estelle made it clear through her actions that she was serious. “This time, you’re not going as a celebrity. You’re representing Bright Starry Sky as its owner, and your appearance and behavior carry the company’s image. Think about Zhu Zhu and the team at the company, who are sitting there waiting eagerly for the final proposal to be locked down. Dress properly. And don’t dig out those ripped jeans and canvas shoes you always wear. Fifteen minutes later, I’ll be downstairs waiting.”
With that, the dial tone echoed from the other end—she’d already hung up.
Rong Yan set her phone aside, turned on the faucet, and splashed a handful of cold water onto her face. The icy water chased away the remnants of sleep as her drowsiness evaporated instantly. She sped up, showering, changing clothes, and applying makeup before rushing down like a rocket within the mandated fifteen minutes.
Breathing heavily, “I…I made it.”
The black Mercedes was already waiting downstairs for her. Seeing her arrive, the door swung open. “Get in quick!”
“Got it.”
Rong Yan didn’t waste any time. In one fluid motion, she climbed in, closed the door, and settled in.
Estelle said to the driver in the front, “Head to Lemon Film Company. Drive faster; we’re in a rush.”
“Understood, General Manager.” The driver turned the car around, floored the gas pedal, and sped toward Lemon Entertainment…
…
The chaotic fifteen minutes of the morning felt too packed, leaving Rong Yan’s heartbeat pounding like a drum. After catching her breath for a few seconds, she glanced around the interior of the car and turned her head in surprise. “Since when did our company have a car like this? I remember the company car used to be a Volkswagen?”
A Mercedes 2000, easily worth millions.
With their current strained financial situation, there’s no way they could afford such a luxury vehicle for travel.
Estelle rolled her eyes, pulled out a file from her bag, and replied matter-of-factly as she skimmed through the pages, “It’s rented!”
“Rented?”
Poof!
Rong Yan, who had just grabbed a bottle of mineral water and was about to unscrew it for a sip, nearly choked on her own spit.
Sister, couldn’t we keep the whole ‘rented’ thing a little more lowkey?
Throwing out “rented” so casually, she wasn’t mentally prepared for it.
Estelle, unfazed, turned another page of her file and nodded, responding with a calm “Mm.” “It’s rented. Twelve hundred a day. If you don’t do well today, that’s twelve hundred out of our pocket for nothing.”
Rong Yan, “…”
She silently counted the balance in her savings account, gripping the mineral water bottle and taking a sip with an awkward expression. She muttered quietly, “Honestly, there’s no need to rent a car like this. The company cars are fine…”
Estelle set down the file in her hand, lifted her head, and looked at her before neatly closing the folder. She asked, “Do you know what kind of car Lemon’s owner drives?”
“What kind of car?”
