Chapter 1605: Chapter 1606: Didn’t Take It to Heart
Cui Jiangjing took the car keys, his handsome face still carrying a trace of uncertainty, “Are you serious?”
Gu Linxi’s casual expression didn’t seem sincere. After handing him the helmet, she turned and walked towards the repair shop’s lounge, waving her hand behind her back, “Ah, serious. Come find me after you finish. If you can’t make it, just leave the keys there and walk away.”
In the blink of an eye, she was out of sight.
Cui Jiangjing looked down and gripped the keys tightly, his pulsing temples throbbing uncontrollably. He gritted his teeth in the direction she vanished, “It’s just riding a motorcycle. I said I’d catch up to you, and I will! Just wait, I’ll come find you in two hours! Don’t forget what you promised me.”
The only response was endless quiet. In the little room, the light was warm, and a silhouette could only be vaguely seen sitting sideways at the table, playing on the computer.
Her full concentration seemed to be the coldest response to him!
Damn! This woman!
His tongue was bitten so tightly it hurt, but it couldn’t compare to the burning flame in his chest. He walked to the only motorcycle displayed in the shop.
The dark blue motorcycle was graffitied with black tattoos, the flamboyant color like a lightning bolt in the Dark Night, tearing through the peace.
The bike stood silently there, with a pair of fingerless leather gloves laid on it. He had seen her use them before; they were Gu Linxi’s gloves.
He picked up the gloves and glanced back at the woman in the room, eyes lowered over her laptop, and with a clench of his teeth, swung his leg over the bike.
“Vroom——”
The sound of a motorcycle starting echoed outside, and Gu Linxi lifted her head from the full pages of code, her expression surprised, “He actually drove out?”
But she didn’t give it much thought. In her view, Cui Jiangjing’s pursuit was nothing more than a spoiled rich kid on a conquest who’d never been rejected, pestering her because his pride was hurt and he just wanted to save face.
She refused simply because she didn’t want to waste time on his boring romance games.
This bet was merely another way for her to say no. Cui Jiangjing was born wealthy, the youngest son of the family, spoiled since childhood, living recklessly for more than twenty years. She didn’t believe he would risk his life to chase a girl. With his rogue character, she figured he would just take the bike out for show, find somewhere to drink coffee, brag a bit, and come back in two hours claiming he finished.
Unfortunately for him, she had installed a GPS tracking system on the front of that bike. This system was her own modification, capable of recording the data from each high-speed ride.
She lowered her gaze, eyes returning to the computer, her fingers tapping at the characters on the keyboard, multitasking efficiently.
When he comes back and proposes to start a relationship, she’ll just pull out the data to decline him…
Gu Linxi made up her mind, driving out all unnecessary thoughts from her mind, focusing entirely on her work.
She had taken a contract for robot command recognition software, and the deadline was approaching. The client had already paid fifty percent upfront, so she needed to wrap it up quickly to receive the remaining half of her payment.
Robots were still considered a top-notch new industry domestically, and there weren’t many who could develop core software for them. As luck would have it, she was one of them.
Gu Linxi casually grabbed a bag of dried squid from the cabinet beside her, tore open the package, lazily dangling one leg off the edge of the chair while the other leg curled up. Her thin lips held a piece of squid, and her fingers flew rapidly over the keyboard…
