Chapter 1824: Chapter 1825: Why Didn’t You Wake Me Up
The plane finally landed after an eight-hour flight.
Chu Aotian received a call from the hospital before Rong Yan woke up and left first.
Rong Yan was in a deep sleep, and Li Shengxiao showed no intention of leaving. The others on the plane didn’t dare leave and waited for Rong Yan to wake up.
Finally.
Her eyelashes fluttered slightly.
Rong Yan’s fingers moved a little, her nose twitched uncomfortably, and she slowly opened her eyes.
The dim light shone down from above, a warm glow that was very comforting. She yawned, her mind still not fully awake.
Suddenly, a hand rested on her forehead.
The cool touch was soothing, making her want to squint her eyes.
"Awake?" His voice was grainy, deep and hoarse, stirring her heartstrings.
Rong Yan’s ears felt pregnant with emotion, and she became more alert, blinking and sitting up from her chair. Looking out the plane window, she asked, "Why is it dark? How long did I sleep?"
Li Shengxiao brushed the hair from her ear and pecked her lightly on the lips, "Almost ten hours."
Rong Yan, "..."
Perhaps seeing what she was thinking, his deep-set eyes gestured to Gu Ming to pour a glass of warm water, which he handed to her, "Have some water first."
Touched by his thoughtful gesture, Rong Yan felt warm inside. She took the cup and drank half of it in gulps, soothing her parched throat. Her mind was now fully awake, and she said with a resigned look, "Why didn’t you wake me up sooner? How long have we been here? Let’s see... from the UK to the Capital City takes about seven hours, I slept for ten hours, which means..."
She looked at the handsome man, her mouth twitching, her eyes surprised, "It means we’ve been here for almost three hours."
"Just about."
Rong Yan was exasperated, "Why didn’t you wake me up? Just call me and I’d get up."
Seeing her eager to get up, Li Shengxiao rose with her, draping his coat over her shoulders. He said, "We’re not in a hurry to go back. Mom knows you’re safe and sound, she’s at home making hotpot for you, and this timing is just right."
Rong Yan remembered something important.
"Little Baby..."
As if knowing what she was going to say, Li Shengxiao pressed her shoulders, imparting a sense of calm, "He woke up four hours ago. Gu Ming connected with him via video call, but you were sleeping peacefully, so I didn’t wake you. I asked for his opinion, and he didn’t want me to wake you. He just watched you for a while through the video, felt satisfied, and hung up. Mom called after our plane landed in the Capital City, saying that once he was sure you were safe, he was extremely well-behaved at home, didn’t cry, and even went to the mall with Mom to buy groceries for tonight’s hotpot."
Hearing how obedient her son was, Rong Yan’s heart softened suddenly, and the anxious tension she had felt gradually eased. Her agitated expression turned to one of relief, "That’s good. I was worried that if I didn’t answer his video call, he might let his imagination run wild."
Her Little Baby was perfect in every way, except that he was overly suspicious!
Even though Gu Ming had told him that she was fine, she knew her little one well; he was the type who had to see things with his own eyes to be assured. Just telling him wasn’t enough to convince him.
As long as Little Baby wasn’t crying, it was fine.
Rong Yan’s heart settled considerably. She didn’t notice the deep-set-eyed man rolling up his sleeves, revealing a slender, fair wrist as he took her hand. His thin lips curled slightly, "Let’s go, we’re going home. Everyone is waiting for us."
