My CEO Husband Has Some Issues

Chapter 1867 - 1868: Not One to Hold Grudges

Chapter 1867: Chapter 1868: Not One to Hold Grudges

"A person, when surrounded by honor for too long, easily loses their true self. I never imagined that after teaching thousands of students over half my life, I would fail so miserably in educating my own descendants!" Tears glistened in his eyes as he looked at Rong Yan. "Rong, this old face of mine is not worthy of your forgiveness. What happened with Siyuan was my mistake; our whole family went too far. But Shen Yu, he harbors no ill will, and he’s never harmed you. I hope you don’t hold Siyuan’s mistakes against Shen Yu. He is just like you, trying to protect his family! Even if his family makes mistakes, she is his sister, and he can’t just abandon her!"

He was betting that Rong Yan held a special place in Chu Aotian and Jiang Chenyue’s hearts, betting that Rong Yan was not a petty person. "Rong, please, as a favor to me, won’t you?"

Suddenly, he slipped off the wheelchair, almost stumbling to the ground, scaring Old Madame Shen who rushed over to support him, exclaiming, "Old Shen, what are you doing!"

"Get out of the way, don’t interfere with me!" Sir Shen struggled to push her away with his hand, "This is between Rong and me, you stay out of this!"

Old Madame Shen had never seen him so disheveled before; tears streamed down her face as she held him tightly. "Don’t be like this! If there’s kneeling to be done, I’ll do it; you sit properly. Ever since you returned from abroad sixty years ago, you’ve been too busy to come home, let alone educate the children. How Shen Yu and Siyuan turned out has nothing to do with you; it’s all my fault. I’ve spoiled them too much, raising them to be the way they are now. If there’s an apology due, it’s me who should apologize. You’ve given your life for the country and the people. At your old age, you shouldn’t have to kneel before a young girl. If I had known this day would come, I’d have rather died in front of you than to watch you like this..."

Watching two octogenarians in front of her, tearfully competing to apologize, Rong Yan was not a cold-hearted person who would hound someone to death over every little mistake. Even though she knew that Sir Shen and Old Madame Shen were largely putting on a show, her gaze fell on their white hair and her resolve softened.

"Sir Shen, there’s no need for any of this. I haven’t been holding a grudge against Mr. Shen."

Sir Shen’s struggling subsided, his eyes looking at her, seemingly in disbelief, "Really?"

Rong Yan calmly nodded, "I haven’t taken his words to heart."

Sir Shen’s heart filled with mixed emotions, at once realizing that his actions had been seen through, and yet surprised that she was willing to let it go. The amalgam of complex emotions weighed heavily on his chest, filling him with shame. "Rong..."

"Sir Shen owes you an apology."

Rong Yan raised the corners of her mouth, "Didn’t you already apologize to me just now?"

Sir Shen felt even more ashamed, his lips moved slightly but he was too embarrassed to further delay the group. He moved aside to make way for them and said to Rong Yan, "Mr. Chu, Shengxiao, our Shen Family did not treat you well tonight; if you have any matters, I won’t hold you up. Safe travels."

Chu Aotian, Li Shengxiao, and the others didn’t say anything, getting into a car on the roadside with Rong Yan.

The three cars soon disappeared down the road.

As night fell, the road outside the hotel bustled with traffic, and the streetlights illuminated the sidewalks as bright as day.

Sir Shen sat in his wheelchair, staring at the direction the cars disappeared for a long time before finally withdrawing his gaze and tiredly saying, "Let’s go, take me back."
