Chapter 2009: Chapter 2011: Jiang Nuan vs Fu Yi 12

Jiang Nuan only planned to complete her task at the Provincial Hospital and then go abroad again. During this short stay in the country, she didn’t contact any of her friends in the country and didn’t return to her small apartment, instead staying directly in a hotel.

On the first night back, she met the last person she wanted to see, and she didn’t sleep well all night long, having nightmares and waking up frightened in the middle of the night.

After dawn, she stayed in the hotel catching up on sleep for the whole morning and only went downstairs to the front desk to extend her stay in the afternoon. She checked her wristwatch, planning to go for a walk.

After a full five years of not returning to the country, everything in Capital City seemed both unfamiliar and familiar. Jiang Nuan walked along the Champ Elysées Avenue outside the hotel, and before she knew it, she had arrived at a small shop selling beverages.

A string of wind chimes hung outside the small shop, with two or three simple tables set along the street edge. A large yellow dog squatted at the door.

As the wind chimes rang,

the large yellow dog lying on the ground perked its ears up, lifted its head, and suddenly looked in her direction.

A look of confusion flashed across its grape-like large eyes, bewilderment... surprise... finally, it stood on all four feet, as if recognizing her, and excitedly ran towards her.

"Woof woof!"

It was large, fluffy and huge, excitedly pawing at Jiang Nuan’s clothes. One pounce and the impact of dozens of pounds almost made Jiang Nuan stumble and fall.

"Alright, Toothbrush, Toothbrush, don’t do that."

The large yellow dog panted heavily, its two paws fervently scratching on her sleeve, while a pink tongue flicked out and its tail wagged frantically.

"Woof woof woof!"

Seeing it barking at her again, and rubbing its head against her hand excitedly, Jiang Nuan couldn’t help but smile. While patting its head, she said softly, "Toothbrush, long time no see, have you been eating your dog food obediently? You’ve gained so much weight recently, you must have been doing well, right?"

The large yellow dog seemed to understand what she said, excitedly responding with a bark.

Jiang Nuan, amused to the point where laughter glinted in her eyes and a smile played at her lips, patted its head again and suddenly gave a command encouragingly.

"Toothbrush, sit down!"

The large yellow dog, that had been clinging affectionately to her, immediately sat half a step away.

Jiang Nuan held out her hand, "Shake hands."

"Woof!" The large yellow dog obediently lifted its left paw, resting its padded paw on her hand.

Holding its fluffy paw, Jiang Nuan bent down and ruffled its head, "Good dog, but I didn’t bring any sausages with me, what to do."

She looked up, intending to see if there was a supermarket nearby, unexpectedly meeting a pair of loving eyes.

"Nuannuan, it really is you."

Upon seeing the newcomer, a look of fondness flashed across Jiang Nuan’s face, and she called out, "Nanny Li."

From elementary school to university, she studied in this area. When she was little, Nanny Li ran a supermarket, and whenever they met, she would give Jiang Nuan some snacks. Later, when business at the supermarket wasn’t good, Nanny Li opened this beverage shop near Jiang Nuan’s university, and she would often visit with her classmates to support the business.

She and Nanny Li had no blood relation, but this elder was no different from family to her.

Li Qing’s eyes brimmed with warmth, and she gave a light cry, walking up to her and gripping her hands, her voice sounding somewhat choked, "I heard Toothbrush barking outside, and I came out worried, only to see you. When did you come back? Why didn’t you tell me? If you told me, I could have come to pick you up at the airport."

Jiang Nuan let the dog’s head be patted, having it wait aside, she explained to Li Qing, "I just got back, early hours of last night’s flight. It was too late to disturb you, so I just called a cab."
