Chapter 1540: 834: The Great Search of Storm City!

Chapter 1540: Chapter 834: The Great Search of Storm City!

Returning to the land of the Eastern Continent, even if just for a minute, brings a sense of familiarity to Qing Chen.

Even when facing the stern old man, he found him to appear kinder than usual.

Qing Chen looked at the old man and asked, “How does it feel to be back in action?”

The old man thought seriously and said, “Nobody’s mentioned paying me a salary yet — forget about any stock options, but a salary is necessary.”

Qing Chen couldn’t help but laugh; this old man was truly treating himself like an employee.

Silence fell between them once again.

Ke Rouli asked considerately from the side, “Are you used to the food outside?”

Qing Chen replied, “Not really, often it’s steak and burgers, but they’re not as good as a simple plate of shredded potatoes from back home.”

Ke Rouli asked again, “Is there any danger now?”

“Yes, I’m working on resolving it, and time is of the essence,” Qing Chen answered.

The questions Ke Rouli asked were the sorts of things a father would like to ask but couldn’t bring himself to.

The old man had been the head of the Qing family for so long, accustomed to viewing humanity from a grand perspective—his thoughts and plans always large-scale, making it difficult for him to show concern over mundane family matters.

So Ke Rouli tactfully asked all the questions a father would want to, sparing the old man from any awkwardness.

As for how much personal curiosity she had, that’s uncertain.

This might just be why Ke Rouli could quickly become the Chief Butler of Ginkgo Manor.

Nevertheless, he didn’t have much time for reminiscence.

The AI from the West Continent reminded him that many had already guessed the true identity of White Light, leading to a new investigation targeting that identity.

This infiltration and covert operation felt like a protracted siege, each side continuously finding each other’s weaknesses and then launching attacks and defenses.

Currently, Qing Chen could only defend.

He said to Ke Rouli, “Who are the personnel currently gathered in City No. 5?”

Ke Rouli handed him a transparent tablet: “The list is here. You can tap on it to see what everyone has been doing recently.”

Qing Chen glanced at her; this girl had everything prepared.

Aboard the Storm, Black Spider stood quietly in the command room, knowing White Light wouldn’t keep her waiting too long.

Suddenly, someone announced, “White Light is online!”

Black Spider coldly ordered, “Deploy the net and identify them, regardless of life or cost; confirm the status of each target, whether they are in the Superconductor World! This is Plan A, and if resistance is encountered, immediately proceed to Plan B!”

“Most targets are at home, and one is even a Marquis; we can’t storm in…”

Black Spider’s expression was stern: “Of course killing them is out of the question, but can’t we slip in for a look? As an Arbiter, I don’t need to be so cautiously timid.”

Inside the Kennedy Marquis Manor.

The new driver leaned against the car smoking; inside the brightly lit villa, female slaves bustled back and forth preparing a night snack.

In the nearby slave quarters, the foreman was playing cards with the slaves.

The driver seemed out of place, neither belonging to the villa nor the slave quarters.

With a tiny earpiece in his ear, a communication channel was open.

As he smoked, someone on the channel said, “White Light is online; check if Blue Mountain, Crimson Blood Team, and others are online simultaneously.”

Upon receiving the command through his earpiece, the driver nonchalantly stubbed out his cigarette and quietly moved toward a dim, unoccupied area.

In a surveillance blind spot, he climbed the villa’s exterior wall with agility like a lizard, silently making his way to the second floor.

The driver nimbly scaled to the entertainment room window, cautiously peering in. Apart from two guarding B-Class Genetic Warriors, everyone else was in the Superconductor World.

The driver prepared to leave, but at that moment, the two genetic warriors spotted him and immediately shouted, “Who?!”

In an instant, these two members of the Crimson Blood Team acted decisively, leaping beside the window and smashing through it with their elbows, jumping down to pursue the driver.

The shattering glass rang out, followed by shards falling like raindrops, but the people inside, with neural connections to the Superconductor World, heard none of it.

Yellow and Green caught up to the driver.

The driver, not very strong, was quickly subdued by the two after only a brief encounter.

Green pressed the driver’s head tightly to the ground and coldly questioned, “Who sent you? If you won’t tell, I’ll cut off your ears and gouge out your eyes.”

The driver sneered, “Very soon someone will call you, don’t worry.”

“A call? No call will help you,” Green was just about to use interrogation tactics when his phone rang.

A calm voice on the line said, “This is the Arbiter, release our man and cooperate with the investigation. An electronic action order signed by the Duke of Storm has been sent to your phone; read it and comply, or face charges of treason.”

The call ended.

Green glanced at his phone’s action order, and his expression changed at once; it was really from the Arbiter!

An intelligence agency like the Arbiter wasn’t something he could provoke!

In the entire Roosevelt Kingdom, the capital and its four ducal cities were under tight control by intelligence organizations. Typically, agents from these organizations would work undercover, but when discovered, they’d immediately reveal their identity and solve problems with more extreme measures!
