Supreme Emptiness

Chapter 1381 - 1398: Cultivation

Chapter 1381: Chapter 1398: Cultivation

The person you trust the most?

Jiang Fan felt lost.

He has always been cautious and never easily trusted others.

Only someone with impeccable character could earn his trust.

If their character is faultless, why would they want to kill him?

Jiang Fan asked, "Who is it?"

The Heavenly Mechanism Elder shook his head, "I don’t know."

"What I divined is the heavenly mechanism, not predicting the future."

"The heavenly mechanism is ambiguous, like an elephant touched by a blind man, indescribable."

"What I just said is all I know."

Jiang Fan fell silent.

For a moment, he felt utterly hopeless.

The Six-Path Masters looked with sympathy and said:

"Elder Heavenly Mechanism, may I ask, will the divined heavenly mechanism definitely come true?"

"Is there a way to avoid it through some means?"

"My life is almost over, I don’t care if I die, but it’s too regrettable for Jiang."

"He’s so young, with such a promising future, couldn’t you rewrite the heavenly mechanism to spare him from death?"

The Heavenly Mechanism Elder sighed lightly towards the sky:

"Heavenly mechanism, heavenly mechanism, a fateful opportunity ordained by heaven."

"What is decreed by the heavens cannot be changed."

"Even the Ancient Saint cannot."

Jiang Fan’s lips curled into a bitter smile.

He too harbored such a wishful thought.

Originally, he thought like the prediction of the Five-star Giant King, if you pay enough price you can rewrite the future.

Who knew, even the Ancient Saint couldn’t alter a person’s heavenly mechanism.

The Heavenly Mechanism Elder patted his shoulder, sighed and said:

"Everyone has their fate."

"Cherish the limited time you have."

He then turned to the Bodhisattva and said:

"You are the first to die according to fate, be prepared."

After speaking.

He suddenly felt a stinging pain on his face.

Looking in the mirror, the sores that had barely disappeared sprang up again.

His graying hair became even whiter.

With a pained face he said, "My handsome old face!"

"I’ve lost, lost again!"

Divining the heavenly mechanism comes at a cost.

He paid an even greater price for divining the mechanisms for three people simultaneously.

But this wasn’t his greatest worry.

Because there was a second request on the letter.

He glanced around, coughed and said, "I, an old man, need to undress, none of you have strange habits, right?"

All the monks silently turned away.

Reluctantly, the Heavenly Mechanism Elder took off his tattered clothes.

Naked, he leapt onto the back of a big green ox and patted its rump, "Stupid ox, what are you standing there for?"

"Won’t you go?"

The big green ox mooed, seemingly asking where to go.

The Heavenly Mechanism Elder blushed and cursed, "Where else can we go?"

"Of course, it’s a lap around the states!"

"Moo!"

"Don’t moo, do you want the Sea Demon Clan to kill me?"

"Moo moo!"

"Stupid ox, I told you not to moo again, or tonight we’ll have beef hot pot!"

"Moo moo moo~"

On the Vast Sea, a big green ox carried a ranting old man, charging across the ocean, mooing all the way.

This comical scene didn’t bring a smile to Jiang Fan and the others.

The monks gathered around the Bodhisattva.

Master Puguang said compassionately, "Bodhisattva, the Buddha will bless you."

All the monks appeared sorrowful, unable to accept the heavenly mechanism of the Heavenly Listening Bodhisattva’s downfall.

The Heavenly Listening Bodhisattva had a peaceful smile on his lips:

"The journey home is fixed, my heart is finally at peace."

"Next, I will prepare fully for the catastrophe, to find a silver lining for the monks of White Horse Temple."

The monks’ eyes showed sadness, all put their hands together in prayer.

The Heavenly Listening Bodhisattva turned his gaze to Jiang Fan, smiled and said, "Master Jiang, do not be despondent."

"Death is the inevitability of life, only the difference between sooner and later, today and tomorrow."

"In finite life, doing meaningful things is the responsibility life has assigned us."

"I hope you recover soon, the beings of Taicang State are waiting for you."

Jiang Fan responded blankly, bowed slightly and said, "Thank you Bodhisattva for enlightening me."

He glanced at the Buddhist Scripture in his hand and offered it forward, "To you."

Heavenly Listening Bodhisattva gently shook his head, "It’s meaningless to me now."

"If Master Jiang has affinity with my Buddha, give it to a Great Bodhisattva someday, let the scripture be passed down."

This is the scripture needed for the practice of a Great Bodhisattva who resonates with the Buddha Venerate.

He could not wait to become a Great Bodhisattva.

Hands together, he bowed to Jiang Fan and the Six-Path Masters.

The Heavenly Listening Bodhisattva led the monks away.

The Six-Path Masters sighed deeply and comforted, "Jiang, I know you feel bad."

"But the shorter our life, the less we should waste it, do meaningful things in the limited time."

"Next, I will fully search for my daughter."

"As long as I can find her, I will pass willingly."

Jiang Fan forced a smile and said, "I understand."

"About your daughter... I suggest you meet Bai Xin."

"Hope that can help you."

Bai Xin?

The Six-Path Masters looked puzzled and said, "That girl who won’t stop hunting me?"

"You wouldn’t suspect she’s my daughter, would you?"

"Don’t make jokes!"

"If my daughter was still alive, she’d be an old lady by now, how could she be a young girl?"

Jiang Fan thought for a moment, deciding to temporarily conceal Bai Xin’s reincarnation as a True Demon.

His expression turned serious, "I’m not sure either, you need to go confirm yourself."

The Six-Path Masters’ pupils quivered slightly.

Knowing Jiang Fan, if he wasn’t seventy or eighty percent sure, he wouldn’t say such a thing lightly.

Could it be that Bai Xin is his daughter who has been lost for over fifty years?

His aged body trembled lightly, his lips quivered, his voice low and choking, he said:

"Alright, I... I’ll go see, I’ll go see right now."

"If she’s really my daughter, I’ll bow and thank you."

Before Jiang Fan responded, he ran towards Taicang State filled with excitement.

Jiang Fan watched him go, his expression turned lonely again.

He sat on a rock, staring into the distant sky, watched the clouds gather and disperse, watched the birds flying away, watched the last twilight of dusk disappear on the horizon.

A sense of desolation welled up in his heart.

"As vast as the world may be, as large as the earth is, can it not accommodate me alone?"

Jiang Fan’s lips twisted with profound bitterness.

Noticing his mood, the Little Qilin emerged from the Space Mirror.

It jumped onto his shoulder, extending its little claw to gently hold his face.

Its furry face snuggled against Jiang Fan’s neck.

In the cool evening breeze, it offered Jiang Fan the only warmth.

Jiang Fan patted its head, self-deprecatingly saying, "I truly am a self-deceiving liar."

"Often saying that I’m ready for death, but when I realize I will truly die, I cannot face it calmly."

"I somewhat understand why Wu Gou would betray his ideals and forsake his initial mission to protect the world."

"Because, in the face of death, those who aren’t fully cultivated cannot face it."

"What people say about not fearing death is simply because they do not know death."

"Once the date of death is known, no one can remain composed."

"Even sages are like this, and so am I."
